Chapter 110: The Trial of the Moon

783 Words
The temple floor trembled violently. Ancient runes carved into the silver platform ignited with powerful light, spreading across the chamber like glowing veins. The entire room filled with clashing energies—silver and crimson. Aria clutched her arm as the mark of the Moon burned brighter than ever before. Pain shot through her body. Kael immediately stepped toward her. “Aria!” But before he could reach her— A powerful invisible force pushed him back. Kael slid several feet across the stone floor before stopping. Roran raised his sword instantly. “What was that?!” The Blood King stood calmly near the throne, watching everything with amusement. “Relax,” he said softly. “The temple is simply beginning the trial.” Kael growled. “You will stop this now.” The Blood King shook his head slowly. “I cannot.” His crimson eyes shifted toward Aria. “Only she can.” The silver light around Aria suddenly intensified. The platform beneath her feet began glowing brighter and brighter. A deep voice echoed through the temple. Ancient. Powerful. “The Trial of the Moon has begun.” Everyone froze. The voice seemed to come from the temple itself. “The Moon’s Daughter must prove her heart.” Aria looked around in confusion. “Prove it how?” The voice answered immediately. “Through truth.” The chamber suddenly filled with blinding silver light. Kael raised his arm to shield his eyes. When the light faded— Aria was gone. “ARIA!” Kael shouted. But she was no longer in the temple. --- Aria found herself standing in a completely different place. A quiet forest. Moonlight shone through the trees, creating a peaceful silver glow. For a moment, everything felt calm. Familiar. Then she heard voices. She turned. And froze. Standing several feet away was a younger version of herself. A small girl. And beside the girl stood two people she recognized immediately. Her parents. Aria’s breath caught in her throat. “This… this can’t be real.” The little girl laughed happily as her father lifted her into the air. Her mother stood nearby, smiling warmly. The scene looked like a memory. One Aria had almost forgotten. Tears formed in her eyes. “I remember this day…” Suddenly the peaceful moment began changing. The sky darkened. The forest trembled. Her parents’ smiles faded as distant roars echoed through the trees. Aria’s chest tightened. “No…” The memory continued. The monsters attacked. The screams returned. The fire. The destruction. Aria fell to her knees as the painful memory unfolded again before her eyes. “This is the night they died…” The young girl cried out for her parents. But this time— The vision paused. The temple’s ancient voice spoke again. “Moon’s Daughter.” Aria slowly looked up. “You carry pain in your heart.” Images of destruction surrounded her. “You carry anger.” More visions appeared. War. Monsters. The Blood Moon rising. “And that anger can either protect the world…” The images suddenly shifted. Now Aria saw herself standing among burning cities. Powerful silver energy destroying everything around her. “…or destroy it.” Aria stared at the terrible vision. Her future. “No.” Her voice shook. “That’s not who I am.” The voice grew louder. “Then prove it.” The burning world around her became clearer. The vision showed people running in fear. Creatures attacking cities. The world collapsing under chaos. “This future is born from your power.” Aria slowly stood up. Her silver aura began glowing around her. “I won’t let that happen.” The temple voice asked its final question. “Then tell us, Moon’s Daughter.” The silver light around her brightened. “What kind of ruler will you become?” Aria’s eyes filled with determination. “The kind that protects everyone.” The temple suddenly exploded with blinding light. --- Back in the temple chamber, Kael watched anxiously as Aria’s body hovered above the glowing platform. Silver energy surrounded her completely. The Blood King watched quietly from the throne. Darius frowned. “Is she… winning?” Suddenly— Aria’s eyes opened. They glowed with pure silver light. A powerful shockwave of moon energy burst across the temple. Even Kael staggered slightly from the force. The ancient voice spoke once more. “The Moon’s Daughter has passed the first trial.” The Blood King’s smile slowly disappeared. “Interesting…” His crimson eyes darkened. “But the next trial…” His voice lowered dangerously. “…belongs to me.” The temple shook again. And the real battle was about to begin.
