The battlefield had become a storm of chaos.
Smoke rose into the sky as the Lycan warriors continued clashing with the shadow creatures pouring out of the forest.
The ground was torn apart from the earlier attacks.
Broken weapons and fallen monsters covered the valley.
But despite their courage, the Lycan army was beginning to struggle.
Commander Roran swung his sword, cutting down a twisted beast that lunged toward him.
“Hold your positions!” he shouted.
But more creatures kept appearing.
Winged monsters circled in the sky while dark wolves rushed across the ground like waves.
Aria stood beside Kael, breathing heavily after blocking Dravoryx’s last attack.
Her arms trembled from the strain.
“That blast almost broke my shield,” she admitted.
Kael wiped dust from his face and looked up at the towering Devourer.
“Then we don’t give him another chance.”
Dravoryx stood in the middle of the battlefield like a god of destruction.
His massive wings slowly spread wider.
The air around him began to darken.
Aria felt the energy immediately.
Something terrible was coming.
“Kael…”
He noticed it too.
“Everyone back!” he shouted.
But it was already too late.
Dravoryx lifted both of his massive claws toward the sky.
Dark energy began swirling around his body like a black storm.
The ground trembled violently.
“What is he doing?” one warrior cried.
Aria stared in horror.
“He’s gathering power.”
Dravoryx’s voice thundered across the valley.
“You insects dare wound me…”
The dark energy around him exploded outward.
“…now face the price!”
He slammed his claws into the ground.
BOOOOOOM!
A massive wave of shadow energy spread across the battlefield.
The shockwave knocked dozens of warriors off their feet.
The earth cracked open beneath them.
Shadow creatures that had been defeated suddenly rose again.
Aria’s eyes widened.
“They’re getting back up!”
The fallen monsters were reforming from dark smoke.
Commander Roran cursed loudly.
“He’s resurrecting them!”
Dravoryx laughed as the creatures rose once more.
“You cannot win a war against endless darkness.”
The Lycan warriors began fighting again, but exhaustion was starting to show.
Aria clenched her glowing hands.
“If this continues, we’ll lose.”
Kael looked around the battlefield.
His army was being pushed back.
For the first time that day, worry appeared in his eyes.
Then suddenly—
A powerful blast of energy struck one of the shadow beasts.
BOOM!
The creature exploded into black smoke.
Everyone turned in surprise.
A tall figure stood at the edge of the battlefield.
Darius.
He lowered his glowing hand slowly.
His blue eyes scanned the battlefield calmly.
“Well,” he said with a faint smile.
“This fight is becoming messy.”
Aria stared at him in disbelief.
“You’re helping us?”
Darius shrugged slightly.
“For the moment.”
Kael’s voice turned cold.
“You betrayed this kingdom.”
Darius looked at him calmly.
“Brother… the world is more complicated than loyalty.”
Dravoryx suddenly turned his massive head toward the newcomer.
His glowing red eyes narrowed.
“Interesting.”
The Devourer studied Darius carefully.
“You are not afraid of me.”
Darius smiled faintly.
“No.”
The wind blew across the battlefield as the two powerful beings faced each other.
“I’ve been waiting to meet you.”
For a brief moment…
Even the war paused.
Because something unexpected had just entered the battlefield.
And no one knew whose side Darius truly stood on.
