This isn't real!

The day had become to much for Charlie to handle with her mate missing and the stress of the dreadful phone call, so Hayden had suggested that she go back in the bedroom to relax while she looked after Ashton at her house. Charlie had taken her up on the offer after Hayden's persistent nagging. She wasn't going to take no for an answer. Charlie looked exhausted an worried an her eyes were swollen from crying. Hayden was not gonna allow her friend to make herself lose herself again after the events of the day before hand. So after getting Charlie to lay down, she took the kids to her house.  She had just got done feeding the kids dinner an they were in the family room watching cartoons and coloring. Hayden had just finished washing the dishes an put them away when Devlin walked into the kitchen. I need to talk to you Hayden. Before I lose my nerve. Devlin said as he looked at his fidgeting hands. He looked up at her with a nervous look. His brows were furrowed an he looked as if he was on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Hayden laid the drying towel on the counter an walked over to him. She took his hands in hers. Babe? What's wrong? You know that you can tell me anything. I love you an I will always love you an I will be here for you every time you need me. Hayden assured him as she stood on her toes to give him a peck on the cheek. She gave him a smile and then got very nervous when he didn't return it. I think you are going to change your mind about that statement after you find out what I have to say. Devlin said as he continued to fidget even as Hayden held onto his hands. He looked up and gave her a sad smile. She had never seen him like this before. She worried that he was about to say the worst thing imaginable. Your not leaving me? Are you? Hayden said as she dropped his hands and wrapped her arms around herself. NO! Never. You are my soul mate. I could never even imagine my life without you or Ava. No. I love you Babe. Devlin said as he grabbed hold of her elbows to get her to drop her arms. She gave in an he took her hands in his. He pulled her to him an hugged her, tight. I think you should know....... while I was out looking for Xavier last night..... Devlin pulled back from the hug to look her in the eyes. I walked through the barn to see if Kensley had seen anyone. Devlin hesitated as he released her from the hug an stepped back a few feet. Well? Hayden said after a moment of silence. She did......see someone... She said that she seen a man carrying Xavier, an unconscious Xavier, that he looked........ a lot like....well..... me. He had the same color eyes, just a tad taller than me but same color hair. I think it was my father that took Xavier. Devlin spat out quickly before he could back out of his statement. Hayden's eyes grew wide an she dropped her arms to her side. Whhh.... What do you mean? Your father found you? Is he after Ava as well? So why didn't he just try to get her? Why grab Xavier.... Hayden stopped asking questions as she covered her mouth in shock. She recalled her and Charlie's conversation in the hallway outside of the bathroom earlier that day. f**k! Devlin! He took him because he wants Charlie to make the trade. Ava and Theia for Xavier. He called Charlie earlier. On. Her. Phone. Hayden exclaimed as she covered her face. He contacted Charlie? Why didn't you tell me right away? Devlin questions as he pulled her against his chest. Hayden looked up at him. There was a whole lot of s**t happening. I was still trying to figure it all out too. I meant for Charlie to explain the whole conversation with you an then, when I looked at her, she just looked...so....lost an tired, so.... I told her to get some rest. We need to be out there looking for him Devlin! They couldn't have gotten very far! Hayden said as she turned around to grab her cell phone from the kitchen counter. Soon as she pulled up the map of Sistersville Lake on her phone she showed the screen to Devlin. We need to have people  here..... and here an here, she pointed to the mountains on the map. Theia is already out there. We need to have our people out there too! He is our family an we are not trading anyone to that vile man. Hayden said with tears in her eyes. She looked up from her phone after a few moments and looked at Devlin curiously. How did you get Kensley to give you that information Devlin? Please ........... for the love of the Goddess, do not tell me our whole life has been some manipulation you an your father concocted years ago? Is that why you searched for me for so long before me met? Did you know that you an I would have this Prophecy Child with you? Hayden threw out accusations one after the other. Soon as she seen the hurt look on Devlin's face, she knew that she had made a terrible mistake by accusing him of such indiscretions. I am so sorry Babe. I didn't m....Hayden was cut off as Devlin held up his hand for her to stop talking. It's Okay, I forgive you. Do you really believe me capable of such things? Devlin asked with hurt in his eyes. Hayden shook her head. No, I am sorry, there had just been so much going on and it's hard to know who is with us an who is against us anymore. Hayden said as she looked into her husbands hurt eyes. A tear escaped her own. I didn't mean it Devlin. I swear. I just don't know what to think anymore. I love you. Hayden expressed as she moved closer to him. She took it as a good sign when he didn't step away from her. She wrapped her arms around his waist an  hugged him tight. I trust you with my life, I don't know why I said those things. I really am very very very sorry. Do you forgive me? Hayden asked as she looked up into his eyes. I forgive you. I just never want you to think of me that way. I can't handle it. It felt like you were ripping out my dead heart. Devlin smiled at her even though he was still feeling a bit hurt that his wife would think that way. In a way he understood her hurtful words, it was his fault that she was just now finding out about his father to begin with. I should have told her about him the moment we met. He thought to himself. He leaned down an gave her a kiss. When he pulled back she had tears running down her face. What is it Honey? Devlin asked as he wiped her tears with his thumb. We knew this day would come, I was just kinda hoping that it would be years from now. Hayden explained as she laid her head against his chest. I just need you to hold me for a minute. Hayden added. I can hold you as long as you wish My Love. Devlin replied an kissed her on top of the head. By the way, I told Kensley that I would dismember her in a thousand different pieces and bury her all over the world if she didn't give me the information that I needed. Devlin added with a laugh. It was the first time I actually seen her terrified. He added as Hayden laughed. They both started to laugh as Devlin held her in the middle of the kitchen. 

After putting Ashton and Ava to bed, Hayden walked into the family room to clean up their toys. She began to pick the crayons an markers up when she heard what sounded like someone talking right outside of her window. She laid the handful of markers an crayons down in the pencil box an walked to the window quietly. She stood beside of the window without pulling the curtain back. She didn't want to alert anyone that she was there listening. She turned off her other senses and turned on her vampire hearing. It sounded like it was one person on the phone. She couldn't make out what the person on the phone was saying but it was definitely a male voice she heard coming through the phone. She waited for the one outside of the window to say something else so she could identify the voice. The man on the phone was still talking. She took her pinky finger and barely inched the curtain back a very small slit. They weren't standing right outside the window as she thought but, in the middle of the road between her house an the pack house. She made out the person quickly. Devlin. He was on the phone with someone an he obviously didn't want her to hear that conversation or he wouldn't have wondered so far away from the house. She let the curtain fall back so she could continue to listen. I told you! I will not! She is my daughter! I am nothing like you father! I actually love my child and I will always love her, no matter what she is capable of! I know they are after her! We have prevented it this long an we will continue to keep her in the right hands! You are not the one that needs to do this! Give Xavier back an we can go our separate ways!!. You never have to see me or my family! I don't want you to anyway after what you did! Devlin shouted into the phone. Hayden covered her mouth. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. His father must have started talking again because Devlin got quiet. After a moment he began to speak again. I swear on everything I love, I will find you, I will put an end to you MYSELF! I should have done it years ago instead of chaining you up in that mountain! We wouldn't be dealing with this bullshit right now! Why have you always tried to make my life a living hell?! Why couldn't you just be a father to me? What did I ever do that was so bad that you tried to wipe me off of the face of this earth!? Devlin continued to grow agitated. Hayden could feel his anger towards his father. It was intense. He really did want to rip his heart out an burn him to ash. I am gonna give you three hours! THREE HOURS FATHER! You need to bring Xavier back! No one will be making the trade! You are wasting your time! I swear if you hurt him you will be hunted for the rest of your days. I will not stop until I destroy you! Devlin yelled. Hayden had heard enough. She walked over to the door an threw it open. She paced down the steps an right up to Devlin. He was so furious that he didn't even hear her approach. Soon as she put her hand on his shoulder he spun around so quick that she didn't have time to react. His eyes were glowing his bright blue but the iris had a circle of red. His face went slack as he realized it was her an not an enemy. He had his hand up in a gesture that was meant to make a killing blow to the heart. He had almost tore her heart out without thinking. Her eyes grew wide. Devlin looked furious and remorseful at the same time. She had never seen him that mad before. His eyes had always been that brilliant blue, never outlined in red. As she studied his eyes they changed back into the color she loved. His hand dropped to his side an he held the phone to his ear without saying a word. He mouthed the words.... I am so sorry. He held his index finger up to signalize (hold on a minute). I told you! I will give you three hours, if you are not back here with Xavier.....I am gonna release the whole pack to hunt you down!!!!. Devlin requested with venom in his voice an hung up the phone without another word. 

I am sorry Hayden. I would never hurt you. I was just so furious. My emotions got the best of me. I guess I was hoping that it was my father so that I could rip his heart out. Devlin said as he pulled her against his chest. It's Okay. I know you were mad. I could hear you from the house. Why did you come out here to speak to him? Hayden asked as she stepped back from him. I knew I would get loud. I didn't want to wake the kids. Devlin replied. I have never seen your eyes that way before. Why were they outlined in red? Hayden asked curiously. That usually indicates that I am very pissed off. If you see my eyes completely red then you have to worry. That means I have lost myself. Just like the Muertes. I usually maintain control though. Nothing to worry about. Devlin said blandly. So, Do you think he is going to bring Xavier back. Hayden asked nervously. I really hope so. By eleven tonight, if he isn't here, we will all go out and look for him. I want him dead this time. I will not make the same mistake twice. Devlin replied as his eyes started to glow again.
