What's happening?

Later that night Devlin awoke to a noise outside. He stood from the bed and walked over to the window. Just as he pulled the curtain aside he seen a shadow run across the street light by Xavier an Charlie's house. He immediately ran over to his beside table an grabbed his cell phone off charge. He hit speed dial number two on his phone. It rang an rang and rang. When the voicemail picked up he hung up and ran over to the dresser an pulled his drawer open an grabbed some sweat pants and slid into them quickly. He grabbed a white shirt an threw it over his head an pulled it on as fast as possible. Hayden sat up in the dark bedroom. What's wrong? She said sleepily. Devlin put his index finger to his lips to quiet her. Her eyes instantly grew wide an she stood up quickly an threw her robe around her naked body. She ran over to him as he slipped out of their room. Quietly following behind him without a noise. They were silent on their feet. Devlin barely cracked open Ava's bedroom door as he went down the hall. They looked in on her. Still asleep. He whispered an shut the door back quietly. What did you see? Hayden whispered to him so only his vampire ears could hear. I seen someone sneaking around outside by Xavier's house. I have a bad feeling Hayden. Someone is here. I don't mean anyone that would be invited either. Devlin stopped walking an turned to Hayden. Please stay in here. I will be right back. Okay? Devlin said nervously an quietly. Hayden shook her head. Be careful Babe. Please. Hayden whispered to him as he turned an quietly opened the front door just a crack. I will. Devlin whispered as he slipped out of the front door after seeing the coast was clear.  Hayden shut the door quietly behind him after he slipped out. She ran over to the window and barely pulled the curtain back so that she could see Devlin. He snuck over to the side of Xavier's bedroom window an knocked quietly. He waited a moment when no one came to the window before sneaking up on the front porch. He silently opened the front door an slipped in. Hayden couldn't see him anymore so she ran to Ava's room an shut herself in with her daughter. 

Devlin walked through the house as quiet as he could be. It was eerily silent. He felt a heavy evil presence lurking. He didn't know if they were still in the house or if it was just the remnants of them left behind. The scent was weak but it felt near. It felt wrong. It kind of felt familiar. Devlin thought with unease. He just couldn't place it. He snuck around the corner after peaking out from behind the wall. After seeing that the hallway was clear, he stepped closer to Xavier an Charlie's room. He opened Ashton's bedroom door an looked in. He was still sound asleep. He shut the door back silently an walked closer to their bedroom. He felt the evil stronger here. Soon as he placed his hand on their bedroom door knob an turned he got a sick feeling in his gut. He slowly opened the door an slipped in. He shut the door behind him. He didn't want to wake Ashton if something was in the house. He flipped the light on. Charlie laid in the bed asleep. Xavier's spot in the bed was empty. Charlie sat up in bed when the light woke her. What's happening? Charlie said with sleep still heavily  in her voice. Where is Xavier? Devlin whispered. Charlie's eyes grew wide when she realized he was not in bed with her. Let me see if I can reach him. Charlie closed her eyes an searched for Xavier in her mind. Nothing. He must have went to the barn or something an fell asleep after I went to bed. I'm not getting anything from him. I can feel him, I just don't hear him in my mind. Charlie stated. She grabbed her phone from the table an called him. The phone started ringing on his bedside table. He left his phone here? He never does that. Charlie said as she hung up the phone an looked at Xavier's table. I haven't heard anything. I didn't even hear him leave. Charlie mumbled. Devlin sat at the edge of the bed. I heard something. It's why I am awake. When I looked out my window I seen a shadow slip by your house. That is why I am here. I'm gonna go check the barn. Stay here with Ashton. Lock the door. I will be right back. Devlin stated seriously. Devlin? Are you sure it wasn't Xavier you seen? Charlie asked. Devlin gave her a sad look. Yes, I'm sure. I can feel the evil that was here. You don't feel that? Devlin asked Charlie. Charlie furrowed her brows an stared at the wall for a moment. Her eyes grew wide an she jumped up out of bed. Devlin! We have to find him! Charlie said with a shaky voice. He knew if she said anything else she would break down in tears after the events from yesterday. Charlie. Go to Ashton. I will go look for him. Okay. I will find him. Devlin reassured her. She nodded an followed him out of the room. She gave him a helpless look before slipping into Ashton's room an shutting the door. Devlin quietly flashed through the house. He knew that he had to find Xavier quickly. He knew that bad feeling he had felt was telling him something bad was about to happen. He worried that Xavier missing was that bad feeling. He flashed over to the barn with lightening speed. He threw the doors open an walked in, flipping the light switch as he walked in. Kensley was still in the cage with a smile on her face. What's wrong Vamp. Can't find your wolf friend? Kensley mocked. Devlin felt anger rise to the surface. He ran over to her cage. What do you know about that traitor? Devlin spat at her. I know quite a bit more than you know you filthy vampire! Kensley laughed. Devlin kicked the cage an Kensley laughed. You won't find him until they get what they are looking for. Also until you let me go. Kensley said smugly. Devlin knelt down with his eyes glowing with fury. You will be going nowhere, if I don't find him soon, you will be dead, and you won't be coming back. I will chop you in so many pieces an bury you all over the world so no one will ever be able to find all the parts. Devlin flashed his fangs at her. For the first time since they locked her in that cage, Devlin seen raw fear in her eyes. She knew that he was serious. Kensley looked down at her feet. What? You think I won't do it. I am that pissed off right now. If you don't start talking I will start with your fingers, then your toes, until you are in tiny tiny tiny pieces. Devlin told her with a growl. Kensley looked up at him. She could see the fury in his eyes. I ....... I, ......seen, I seen a tall vampire, I , I don't know if , if, my mother sent him, or if he is just here for himself. I've never seen him before. He had these glowing blue eyes, kinda like yours, no..... exactly like yours. He had dark hair. It was long, at least to his shoulders. He was built like a brick house. Like you an Xavier. He looked like your twin to be quite honest with you. Kensley explained nervously. She kept stuttering. She knew this vampire would make good to his word if she didn't talk. What else did you see? Devlin said as he held onto the cage while he knelt to talk to her. He was carrying Xavier. I think.. .... he was unconscious. Kensley replied nervously. Which way did he go? Devlin asked. He walked through here then out the other door. That is the only reason I know what I know. I don't know if my mother sent him but if she did, then she doesn't care about me being locked in this cage. He didn't even try to break me out. Kensley said with anger. It's because you belong exactly where you are. Devlin said as he stood an walked towards the back door. Wait! Kensley yelled. Let me out! I will help you find him. I have powers outside of this cage! Kensley added as she yelled after Devlin. Devlin put his hand on the door handle an turned around. Good try. You think I'm that stupid! Devlin laughed as he walked out the door. He knew that it was his father that took Xavier. But, Why? Why Xavier? He thought to himself as he followed the stench of evil. He turned the corner from the side of the barn an bumped into Amony. Holy s**t! You scared me to death! Devlin yelled. Amony put her hand over her chest. You scared me too, you know! Amony replied. What are you doing out here? Devlin asked. I felt an evil presence. What are you doing out here? She asked him. I woke to a noise outside an seen someone sneaking around. Xavier is gone an I think someone took him. Devlin answered quickly. Amony looked confused. Why Xavier an not Ava? Aren't they after Ava? Amony asked. Devlin furrowed his brow. I know. I don't know what his game plan is? Maybe this is all part of it? Devlin said quietly. Wait? How do you know it was a he? Amony asked. I just spoke to Kensley, she seen him. He was carrying Xavier while he was unconscious. I think it is my father. He is going to try something. Maybe a trade. He won't try to contact me though. He is gonna try to make Charlie make a trade. That is the only reason I can think of on why he took Xavier an not Ava. We need to keep a close eye on Charlie. She is gonna be devastated when she finds out Xavier has been taken. Devlin sighed an squeezed the bridge of his nose. We will find him. Amony stated. We have witches an me. I am an Angel. I will find him. We will keep Ava safe. Amony said confidently. Devlin looked at her. Okay. Well go back home. Get some rest. I need to go tell Charlie what is going on. I will probably get Hayden first so that she can keep her calm. Devlin explained. Yeah right. How am I supposed to go to sleep now. Knowing what I know. I won't be able to close my eyes. I don't need sleep anyway. I'm coming with you. Amony stated. Devlin nodded. Okay. Come on then. 

Charlie let out a blood hurtling scream and went into a crying fit when Devlin told her what he had discovered. Hayden hugged Charlie tightly. Why!!!!!!!!! Why him??????? I don't understand. It doesn't make sense. Charlie cried loudly into Hayden's shoulder. Hayden tried to soothe her by rubbing her back an running her fingers through her hair. It's Okay Charr. We will find him. We know he is still alive or you would have felt it. Xavier is strong. He may even escape before we find him. Hayden reassured Charlie as she continued to rub her back an run her fingers through her hair. Charlie kept crying no matter what Hayden told her. Please, I need you to stay strong. For Xavier. For Ashton, and for me. I need your help to find him Charlie. We are going to find him. I swear on my life. Hayden kept speaking as she cried an cried into her shoulder. Mommy? Why are you crying? Ashton said as he peeped his head into her room. Charlie sat up straight an wiped the tears away. Come here baby boy. Mommy needs to tell you something. Charlie said as she tried to get her emotions under control. Ashton ran over to his mothers bed an climbed up. Charlie pulled her son into a hug as soon as he reached her an began to weep again. It's Okay Mommy. Daddy will fix it. Daddy fixes everything. Charlie cried harder and hugged her son tighter. Mommy? What's wrong? Ashton asked again. Charlie sat him on her lap and wiped at her tears again. Daddy won't be around for a little while. Okay. Daddy had to go on a trip. Charlie told him. Then why are you crying? He will be back. He always comes back. Ashton asked curiously. Mommy is just sad. Daddy doesn't know how long he will be gone this time. Charlie told him. I see. Your lonely without Daddy. Ashton said with a smile. Yeah. That is it. You guessed it right my handsome little man. I love you. Why don't you go play in your room. I'll come play in a few. Charlie suggested. Okay Mom, Love you too. Don't be sad anymore. You have me. Ashton said as he gave his mom a kiss an jumped down an ran to his room. He is so sweet. Hayden said to Charlie. Yeah, he is. Charlie said as she stared at the spot she seen Ashton run. Her gaze was locked on that spot. Hayden looked at Devlin an he shrugged. Charr? Are you okay? Hayden asked. Charlie blinked a few times an looked at Hayden. No, I am far from Okay. I want to find him, I want to kill whoever took him, and so help me Goddess, if they have hurt him in anyway. I will tear them limb from limb. Charlie said with extreme anger. Her eyes flickered her bright glowing teal. Hayden smiled at her. I'm so glad you are over the sadness, we need the angry Charlie right now. That Charlie will find her mate. We will be right there to help you as well. They will pay for what they have done. Every last one of them. Hayden said seriously. Charlie gave Hayden a big smile. Thank You. I can use all the support I can get right about now. Hayden laughed. Well we have a whole compound of people that are just as mad as you are. So, what do you say, lets get started. Hayden said as she stood up an offered her hand to Charlie. She took it with a nod an a smile. Lets find him Sister. Charlie growled out with a glow to her eyes. 

Theia walked over to Charlie. I am so sorry that your mate is missing. I just wanted to tell you that I will do anything in my power to help you get him back. She stated. Thank you Theia. I appreciate that very much. Charlie said softly and continued to chop veggies for Ashton's lunch. Can I ask you something? Theia asked. Sure, go ahead. Charlie replied as she pulled the bowl of steak pieces over to her so that she could put them in the skillet with the veggies, it was Ashton's favorite meal . I know werewolf mates can feel each other and when they are within a close distance they can hear each others thoughts an feel what they are feeling. Have you got anything since he was taken. Charlie looked up from the cooking meat to look at Theia. She thought for a moment. There was a tiny second where I felt him feel confused an then it was gone as quick as it came. I think they are keeping him unconscious. Charlie stated as she pulled the pan from the stove an emptied the pan onto Ashton's dinosaur plate. She went to the fridge an pulled out the gallon of milk and poured him a cup. She walked over an sat his lunch on the table. Ashton, Honey, your lunch is done. Charlie yelled down the hall. A moment later she heard his bare feet hitting the wood floor as he ran to the kitchen. Thanks Mommy! I'm starving! Ashton yelled as he climbed into his chair. Why do you ask? Charlie said as she walked back over to Theia an looked at her curiously. Well, if he is close then you will feel him as long as he is awake. We can use that to our advantage. Theia said with a smile. I only felt that single second of his emotion. I don't see how that can help. Charlie said an instantly regretted the negative comment. I'm sorry. I am trying to stay positive. It is just hard because I don't understand why they took HIM. Out of everyone in this property.............. Why HIM? Charlie questioned. Theia gave her a sad smile. That is what I am trying to find out. I am going to go follow the scent as far as I can. I know they will cover it the closer I get to their location, but, I am a pretty good tracker if I do say so myself. Theia stated. Thank you so much. I mean it. Charlie said as she leaned in an gave Theia a hug. Theia's arms hung limply for a moment before she slowly lifted her arms an hugged her back. It had been so long since she had received a hug from someone other than Michelle. She realized that she actually enjoyed the sentiment. Your welcome Charlie. Just trying to do my part. Theia said as she pulled back. Don't tell anyone where I am going, if you don't mind. I work better alone. I will be back soon. Theia said. Before Charlie could reply to her she had vanished into thin air. Charlie looked around the room and back to where Theia was standing a moment before. Charlie shrugged an laughed. She went to cleaning up the kitchen after cooking lunch for her son. She stopped for a moment and closed her eyes. She searched an searched for Xavier. Something, Anything. She still felt nothing from him. She was hoping the next time that he regained consciousness that he would pretend to be asleep so that she could at least know that he was okay. She opened her eyes an sighed. She swore at that moment that she was going to do everything in her power to get him back. She turned an looked at Ashton. He was still eating his lunch. He looked so much like his father that Charlie's heart gave a little thud at the thought of her mate. She studied Ashton's blonde curls an smiled. Ashton glanced in her direction and gave her a little smile. Charlie smiled back at him. She was just about to walk over to him when her phone rang. She pulled it out of her pocket and looked at the caller id. Unknown. That is what was displayed across the screen. She looked around the room. Everyone was in deep conversation an no one had noticed her phone ringing. She walked down the hallway to the bathroom an closed the door before answering the phone. 

Hello? Xavier? Who is this? What have you done with my husband? Charlie yelled into the phone.

No need to yell. I have something that you want, and youuuuuu have something that I want, or at least you have access to what I want. The deep voice answered. 

And what is it that you want? Charlie asked with anger

You know what I want. I want the girl, also I want Theia as well. The man replied. 

What about a life for a life, not two for one, that is hardly fair. I will give you Theia if you give me Xavier. Charlie suggested.

No, I need the smaller one more than I need the older one. Then is it a deal? The small girl for your husband? The man said. 

I can't do that. That is my niece you are talking about. I can not and will not. Charlie said nervously.

How do you know my name? Why did you take Xavier an not just take Ava yourself. Charlie growled.

Because...... I would have never gotten past Devlin undetected. I barely got out with Xavier. I thought he an the woman had found me out behind the barn. They were so close. If they would have just walked over to the tree line they would have found the both of us. Of course your poor hubby was knocked out from the serum I gave him but they would have found him none the less. The man laughed. 

I will do anything. Please, but I can not trade my niece. I won't. My husband will understand why I can't. I can't stand the thought of living without him but I will if I have too for the greater cause that Ava brings to all of us. Charlie explained as tears ran down her cheeks. 

Very Well. The man said an hung the phone up. Charlie pushed her back against the bathroom door an slid down it. She has started to cry uncontrollably. She heard a knock on the door an wiped her tears. YEAH? Charlie yelled. Are you Okay? Hayden asked through the door. Yeah, I'll be out in a sec! Charlie yelled back. She stood up an looked in the mirror. Her eyes were swollen an red. He long blonde hair twisted into a messy bun an she wore her yoga outfit. She looked a mess. She leaned down an turned the water on. She splashed some cold water in her face an looked at her reflection again. She reached up an pulled her hair out of the bun an picked up the brush. She began to brush all the knots out of her hair. She opened the medicine cabinet an pulled out her makeup bag. She needed to look a little better to feel better. She put a little makeup on and turned to the bathroom closet an pulled out some clean clothes. She changed into her pink sweater an a pair of ripped jeans. She slipped her feet into some sandals an looked at her reflection again. A little better but she still looked as if she had lost her best friend. She thought for a moment. I did lose my best friend, but, I will get him back. Charlie whispered to her reflection. She gave the mirror one last look an smiled. She opened the bathroom door an Hayden was still standing there. Who were you talking to in there? Did someone call you? Hayden asked. Charlie looked down at the phone in her hand then back up to her best friend. She couldn't lie to her even if she had too. Yes, ........ the man that took Xavy. He called me. Charlie said sadly and a tear escaped her left eye. She wiped at it quickly. Well? What did he want? Hayden asked. He, He...... he wanted to make a trade. He wanted Theia an Ava for Xavier's life. Charlie replied softly. What did you tell him? Hayden asked already knowing the answer but still needing to hear it anyway. I, I, told him that I couldn't trade my niece, that I could trade Theia for Xavier, he said no that he needed the small girl before he needed the old one. Charlie felt ashamed. What else did he say? Hayden asked. He said that if I didn't give him Ava then I would never see Xavier alive again. Charlie answered as tears streamed down her face. Her makeup that she just put on running down her cheeks with the tears. I'm so sorry Charlie. Hayden said as she went in for a hug. The worst part of the whole conversation is that he said that if Devlin an Amony would have just walked to the tree line that night then they would have been found out. I also told him that Xavier would understand why I couldn't give Ava up. She is my Goddaughter, my niece an also the light to our darkness. I can't and I won't trade her..... no matter how much I love Xavier. I couldn't live with myself. Charlie explained.
