David swallowed hard on the lump that was suddenly in his throat. He hated the fact that his mother was suddenly praising Drey. It made him hate Drey the more.
Ann was never like this. She was always eager. Wasn't she the one who always proposed a new man for Betty? She was so against Drey from the onset but she had no choice because Betty was ugly.
When Betty recovered, she suddenly proposed that she divorce Drey. What then has changed? Why was Ann behaving like this towards money, James didn't understand.
