For a big dog, Rufus sure could fold himself into small spaces. Like under the table to await anything Zoe might slip down to him as they were eating dinner. Mom didn’t approve and blamed Dad for spoiling the dog. Zoe spoiled him too, happy to see him. He at least always greeted her like a returning hero. Not that her parents hadn’t been thrilled to see her too, giving her many hugs and kisses. Dad had helped her bring her stuff in, and they’d dumped it in her room—except for the box of nail polishes, which had started to ooze bright colors and was now in the garbage.
