Chapter 11 Later that afternoon they emerged once again from the subway station, after a trip back to their motel room. Only now they made an odd couple, with Zoe still in her casual outfit and Lorna in a tailored midnight-blue skirt suit. She’d bought it to be ready for possible court dates and meetings with lawyers over the divorce. She wore a figure-skimming white top under it. Her legs were silky smooth, her hair and her heels businesslike. Sunglasses and discreet jewelry completed the look. “Okay,” Lorna said when they emerged from the station. “Stop here a second.” She took her tablet from her purse, slipped her phone in a pocket, then gave the purse to Zoe. “Hang on to that.” She didn’t have a briefcase, so better to go with the modern briefcase—the tablet computer.
