Chapter 2

It was a beautiful autumn day in a small college town, and the leaves had just started to change color. Michael and Jake, two best friends since their college days, were catching up over coffee. They had both gone their separate ways after college, but their friendship was still as strong as ever.

As they sat in the quaint coffee shop, reminiscing about their wild college days, both men were filled with excitement. They talked about their favorite professors, the silly pranks they pulled, and the crazy parties they attended. They both laughed and shared stories, feeling as though no time had passed at all.

Michael was especially excited to catch up with Jake, as he had heard about all of his exciting adventures since college. Jake had traveled the world, working as a freelance photographer and seeing sights that most people could only dream of. Michael was envious of his friend's free spirit and adventurous nature.

As they sipped their coffee, Jake asked Michael about his life since college. He worked as an accountant and was happy with his life now as a single men, but he couldn't help but feel a twinge of sadness that he wasn't able to live life to the fullest like Jake had.

Jake could see the regret in his friend's eyes and reassured him that it was never too late to pursue his passions. He encouraged Michael to follow his dreams, no matter how big or small they were. He reminded him that life was short and that it was important to make the most of it.

Michael was inspired by his friend's words and decided to take a leap of faith. He quit his job as an accountant and decided to follow his passion for photography. He enrolled in a photography course and was determined to make his dream a reality.

One day Michael asked Jake to sip a coffee again. As they talked about their lives, Michael brought up a topic that had been weighing on him for a while. "Jake, I need to tell you something," he said, looking serious. "I Introduce you with Lucy already right? The most amazing girl I've ever met, I think I'm falling in love with her."

Jake's expression was mixed, but he tried to hide his disappointment. He had been harboring feelings for the same girl, who he had also met through mutual friends.

" Lucy is smart, funny, and just, well, perfect." Michael said, a smile spreading across his face.

Jake nodded, feeling a pain in his chest. He had been hoping to ask Lucy out soon, but it seemed like Michael had beaten him to it. "That's great, man," he said, trying to sound sincere. "I hope things work out for you two."

As they continued to talk, Jake's mind raced with conflicting emotions. He was happy for his friend, but he couldn't shake off his own feelings for Lucy. He wondered if he should speak up and tell Michael about his own interest in her, but he didn't want to ruin their friendship.

The conversation soon turned to other topics, but Jake couldn't help but feel preoccupied. He kept imagining what it would be like if Michael and Lucy started dating, and he felt a sense of urgency to act on his own feelings.

As they parted ways, Jake made up his mind. He would have to tell Michael about his own interest in Lucy, and hope that their friendship was strong enough to withstand it. "Lucy, I know we've only been dating for a short while, but I just can't imagine my life without you. You make me so happy and I feel like I've known you forever. I love you."

Lucy's eyes filled with tears as she looked at Michael. She had been feeling the same way, but was too scared to say it first. "I love you too, Michael. You make me so happy and I can't imagine my life without you either."

Michael took out a small box from his pocket and got down on one knee. "Lucy, will you be my girlfriend?"

Lucy's heart skipped a beat as she looked at the ring in the box. "Yes, Michael. I would love to be your girlfriend."

Michael slipped the ring on Lucy's finger and they hugged tightly, tears streaming down both of their faces. They kissed under the stars, surrounded by the sounds of nature and the city lights.

Jake watched from a distance, feeling a mixture of happiness and sadness. He was happy for his friend, but also felt a pain of regret that he had never mastered the courage to tell Lucy how he felt. But he knew that he had to let her go and be happy for her, even if it meant that he would always have feelings for her.

As Michael and Lucy walked away hand in hand, Jake took a deep breath and smiled, knowing that he would always cherish the memories of their time together and the love that he had for her. He turned and walked in the opposite direction, trying to force himself to be ready to start a new chapter in his life, filled with new adventures and possibilities.

One day, Jake decided to confront Michael about his feelings. They met at the same coffee shop where they had first talked about Lucy. "Michael, I need to talk to you about something," Jake said, his voice serious.

"Sure, what's up?" Michael asked, looking concerned.

"It's about Lucy," Jake said, taking a deep breath. "I have feelings for her too. I've been meaning to tell you, but I didn't want to ruin our friendship."

Michael's expression turned to shock. "What do you mean? I thought you were happy for us?"

"I am happy for you, It's just, I don't know how to say this," Jake said, running his hands through his hair. "I think I'm in love with her too."

Michael sat back in his chair, looking stunned. "I had no idea, Jake. This is a lot to take in."

The two friends talked for hours about their feelings for Lucy and what it could mean for their friendship. They both agreed that they didn't want to lose each other over a girl, but they also couldn't deny their feelings for her. They decided to tell Lucy about their mutual feelings and let her make the decision.

The three of them met for dinner that night, and Lucy was caught off guard by the turn of events. She had been blissfully happy with Michael, but she had also grown to appreciate Jake's friendship. "I had no idea this was happening," she said, looking back and forth between the two men. "I don't know what to do."

The conversation was awkward and tense, with all three of them unsure of what to say next.

As the conversation continued, Michael and Jake started to reminisce about their college days and how they first met Lucy.

Lucy was new to town and was looking for a group of friends to hang out with.

Lucy eventually excused herself, saying she needed time to think. Over the next few days, she weighed her options and tried to figure out what she truly wanted.

When Lucy arrived in her apartment he remembered how Jake's ghosted her but she want to hear from Jake what was really happen.

The three of them again talked and Lucy opened up about how she and Jake started and how Jake ghosted her. Jake explained and tell everything to Lucy. He asked an apology to Lucy as well as to Michael that their friendship rules broke with a sudden.

In the end, Lucy made her decision. She sat down with both Michael and Jake and told them that she had feelings for both of them, but her heart was leaning towards Jake. Michael was devastated, but he also knew that he couldn't come between Lucy and Jake. He stepped back, wishing them both the best.

Jake and Lucy started a relationship, and despite some bumps in the road, they were happy together.

They both agreed to be open and honest with each other, to work through any challenges that came their way. They knew that love wasn't always easy, but they were willing to put in the effort.

One day, as they were having a heart-to-heart conversation, Jake brought up the topic of Michael. "I know you had feelings for him too," he said. "But I'm just curious, what made you choose me over him?"

Lucy took a deep breath and looked at Jake. "Michael is a great guy, and I do have feelings for him, but there's just something about you that I can't ignore. You make me laugh, you make me feel safe, and you always know just what to say. You have a way of making everything seem better, and that's what I need in my life right now."

Jake smiled, feeling overwhelmed with love for Lucy. He took her hand and looked into her eyes. "I promise to always make you laugh and feel safe. I love you, Lucy."

"I love you too, Jake."

And with that, they hugged each other tightly, knowing that no matter what challenges they faced in the future, their love for each other would always see them through. They were ready for the next chapter of their love story, and they were both excited to see where it would take them.
