chapter 1- The contract
> Elena Ross stared at the hospital bill in her hands. $50,000. That was the amount she needed in three days, or her mother would be removed from the life support machine.
>
> She had sold everything, borrowed from everyone, but it was still not enough.
>
> Just as she was about to break down, her phone rang. It was an unknown number.
>
> "Miss Ross, this is from Blackwood Group. Mr. Adrian Blackwood would like to meet you regarding a proposal. It concerns a large sum of money."
>
> An hour later, Elena found herself in the tallest building in New York, sitting opposite the most handsome and coldest man she had ever seen.
>
> Adrian Blackwood. 30, billionaire, CEO, and known for having no heart.
>
> "I need a wife," he said straight, sliding a document towards her. "My grandfather's will says I must be married before my 31st birthday to inherit the company. I have one month left. You need money. I need a wife. It's a simple business."
>
> Elena's eyes scanned the document. Contract Marriage - One Year. Compensation: $500,000. Rules: No love, no interference, no physical relationship outside public acting.
>
> "Why me?" she whispered.
>
> "Because you are desperate, and desperate people don't ask questions. And you don't move in my social circle, so when we divorce, you will disappear quietly."
>
> His words were insulting, but the $500,000 could save her mother.
>
> Elena picked up the pen with shaking hands. Was she about to sell herself for one year?
>
> "Do we have a deal, Miss Ross?"
>
> She closed her eyes and signed. "Yes, Mr. Blackwood. We have a deal."
>
> She didn't know that one signature would change her entire life forever.
