Chapter 4:

3 month later

Evelyn pov

Chase as made away with all our life savings we Saved together, I am penniless and have only my family to support me for the past weeks.

Staying in Brooklyn took away my sanity, as everything around me reminds me of chase, the café we first met , the restaurant we had our first date. I couldn’t stand seeing my dreams clash before my eyes.

Seeing they was nothing left for me in Brooklyn, I packed up and moved to stay with my best friend Anie as she was more than happy to receive me.

I found a suitable law firm and applied and I got the job, and I have excel in all the cases that were given to me making me a five star lawyer in the firm.

I made enough money in less than two month to get my own place. I had just returned from work as I work on my report when my phone starts made a sound notifying me of a new massage.

"Hey, I'm coming over to your place in twenty minutes time," Annie texted me.

I smiled as i read the text, i knew Annie was coming over to make it up to her for not calling her back the other night, like she had agreed.

Annie parked in the front yard of my yard.

"You of all people should know how hectic work is for me. I'm sorry for not calling you since then but I'm here now to make it up to you."

"Get dressed, we are going out to club," she announced.

"Club? For what? There is absolutely nothing to celebrate, besides I have tons of work" i said to her.

"Shush, we have absolutely every reason to celebrate. And work can wait for another day. Now go and get dressed. Remember to put on something very sexy."

I reluctantly agreed, then i shuffled my feet as i walked to my room to get dressed.

In no time, i came out in a dazzling short gown. I packed my hair into a bun. As for my face, i wore no make up on it.

"Wow you look great but you have no make up on," Annie said to me.

"I do not feel like wearing one today or any other day. It is of no use, I had applied make up all through the days I spent with Chase but it wasn't enough to keep him to myself," i said.

"No, we are not talked to about Chase tonight. Forget about him, or else this night will be ruined. I'm taking you out so that you will be able to drink away your sorrows. Who knows? you might meet someone else there."

They talked on for a little while longer before leaving for the club.

Annie was more of a life of the party type. She tried bugging me to dance with her and have more to drink but i wasn't the party type, so she declined.

“Good evening” he greeted.

"What is your name?" She heard him ask.

"If you have nothing important to say to me, please leave," she quickly told him.

She felt that there was no particular reason he asked for her name.

Xavier glance a her with a surprise look, he taught that by his first word to her she would already be falling at his feet, maybe she’s just playing hard to get, he thought as he smirked he will need to push harder he thought as he smirk.

"You are too rude for your looks," he commented.

"What do you mean?" She asked with a questioning look.

"I have been observing you since you stepped in here with your friend and I noticed a lot about you in that short moment." He said with a smirk

His words made her give him more attention. She looked at him briefly, before offering him a seat.

"So tell me what you noticed about me then? ,"Evelyn though slightly curious.

Hearing him say that, Evelyn became really surprised.

"Isn't it obvious? Your friend had been trying to make you enjoy the night but you just can't. You even rejected to join her dance, meaning that you didn’t want to be here . But now you’re here I can change your mind about tonight what do you think.” He said as he gaze into her eyes. Waiting for a positive answer from her, he never had to try so hard to get a woman to fall at his feet.

But it wasn't long till Evelyn got to warm up to him and they began talking about random stuff, soon she was laughing hard and was obviously very drunk.

When it got late Xavier stood up and looked around trying to spot the lady he saw with her earlier but after several attempt he couldn't locate her as he turned to look at Evelyn he knew she was very drunk so de decided to take her to his house.

"Let me take you home" Xavier said as he lift her up and they walked out of the door of the club.
