Everyone was staring at me and I squirmed in my seat. Amka wouldn’t meet my eyes and Uki was confused. Poor kid, I felt bad he had to escort her highness around.
“Would someone like to tell me what just happened?” The silence was broken by my father’s voice and I knew that tone. He was angry, and his anger was pointed at me.
“I think it is just a small misunderstanding. You know how young folks can be.” Meliana was my father’s second in command and she was a woman I would not want to cross. She was covering for me and by the looks she was shooting me; I better straighten this up and soon.
“Melly, I do appreciate you sticking up for my i***t son but I think he needs to tell me what is going on.” I threw my fork down on the plate and Amka flinched.
“You want to know what is going on? I don’t want to marry her. I have a mate; Amka is my mate.” Everyone gasped and Amka shot a nasty look at me. Sighing I grabbed her hand and she swatted me away.
“Oh, is that so? And what does your mate say about that?” I glowered at my father. He was trying to assert his dominance I could feel his Alpha powers trying to work on me. They felt disgusting and like tar.
I needed to talk with the pain in the rear princess about this. Shuddering I wiped my palms on my pants.
“I talk for my mate. She is fine with it so you know what you can send the Princess back to where she came from.” Sven stood up and slammed his palms on the table.
“You talk for your mate and yet you treat your wife to be like garbage. I find it odd that Amka is your mate when she is mine.” The rest of our breakfast guests were shifting in their chairs.
“Well, father if you feel so strongly about the interloper then you marry her and uphold the contract. I will not do it. I claim Amka as my mate.” Meliana gasped and shook her head.
“Do you know what you just did son?” I pushed my chair back from the table and stared at my father. He was sickly and looked weak.
“Yes, I just challenged you to fight to the death.” I walked out of the breakfast room kicking myself for being a hothead. There was the sound of feet pounding on the floor.
“You can’t go through with this Cade. Please just let it go and find happiness with the Princess.” I wrenched my arm out of Amka’s grip.
“No, you are my mate. I know it. I feel it in here.” I pounded my fist on my chest and stared down into her eyes.
“You know that is not true. If we were mates, we would have the marks. I never received the mark when I was with you. Please Cade.” I hated seeing her begging me and then her eyes went wide as she let go of my hand.
“That is a lie, you are my mate and I will take you one way or another. You will be mine.” I turned around to see Lucent standing there. What I said bothered her, I could tell that it bothered her and a small part of me was annoyed that it hurt me as well.
“You and I need to talk wolf boy.” I glared at her and she rolled her eyes.
“I have a name.” Amka scurried away and I started after her but Lucent cleared her throat and stood with her arms crossed.
“What is it that you want from me?” Sighing she ran a hand through her long dark hair and I wondered what it would feel like to have that pretty mouth of hers on my d**k and that curtain of hair on my legs.
“I am assuming that you just challenged your father to some sort of wolf dual, correct?” I smirked; I couldn’t help it. I wanted to remain stoic and angry with her but she has a way with words that was kind of cute.
“In a sense yes.” She looked around and hunched her shoulders.
“I don’t suppose we can take this conversation elsewhere. I don’t know how things are done here but having a conversation in the hallway is just begging for prying ears to listen to.” Her eyes shifted around the hall again and I frowned.
“What the hell did they do in the Fairy court? You’re more paranoid than some of our prepper wolves.” She let out a bitter laugh and started back toward the hall that led to her room. My c**k twitched at the thought of being in the room with her.
“You don’t want to know wolf boy. I have a theory about your father. Mind you it is just a theory so it isn’t concrete.” Was she worried about me? I moved up close behind her and sniffed her hair. She tensed as I practically rubbed myself all over her.
“Fine let’s go back to your room.” I wanted to wrap my arms around her and I cursed my stupid wolf for wanting to get cozy with the enemy.
“Back off wolf boy, I had enough drama in my own home growing up. I like Amka and her brother I don’t want to be involved in any more drama.” I scowled at her back as she pulled away from me.
“Why won’t you call me by my name?” I don’t know why it bothered me so much. She turned to me and stared at me with that sexy pout she has.
“I refuse to call someone by their name if they wish to just throw me away. You have no respect for me and therefore I will show you the same courtesy.” She seemed so matter of fact and her indifference was like an icicle to my heart.
“Do you think we can call a truce Lucent?” I extended my hand to her and she eyed it as if I were going to eat her alive. If I was going to eat her, she will be enjoying it and screaming my name.
“Hey Cadence where did you go?” She was snapping her fingers in front of my face and I shook my head.
Her stomach let out a loud growl and she blushed.
“That’s right, you didn’t get to eat breakfast because you hit me in the face with it.” She snorted and let out a loud laugh.
“It was a pretty good shot though you should have seen your face after getting slapped with a waffle!” I couldn’t help it I started laughing as well.
“Let me go tell someone to send some food to the library and we can eat while you discuss your theory with me.” She nodded and headed to the library. I didn’t want to tell her how cute she looked in her cat ear hoodie.
Or how nice her ass looked in her pajamas. I needed to get a grip on myself. She was the enemy and Amka was my mate.
That was just how things are.
