chapter 1 It is 4 months now since I quitted my previous job. I can't deny it was a nice job,but I couldn't bear it for its toxic environment. I can't believe how people surviving there.The owners of the company don't even know the meaning of the humanity.But at least I'm out of there and free from stress now. But what am I gonna do now.Ihave tried looking for another job in different companies but there is still no response. I'm still thinking about it as I'm scrolling through my phone checking emails, if there is anything new. but it's of no use everyday is all the same. I need a cup of coffee. I place my phone on the seat heading to the kitchen to make coffee. " Please God why don't you give me a job?" That is my everyday prayer. Anyway, I have tried my best, and sent enough applications all I have to do is to be patient. For real I have no other option. Am talking to myself. I know I'm still home at my parents house , but it is still hard to be home without a job. I think i have to do something. But what is this thing that is not going to get a job that I'm gonna do now. I'm still lost in my thoughts. Suddenly the living room door opens. I curiously checked since I didn't expect anyone. Oh ,mummy it's you." Good morning darling. How is your how is your morning going. You still stressed about getting a job?" She comes in hugs me and kisses me on the forehead as usual. It doesn't matter I'm still mama's girl. Good morning mummy. I'm good. No Mum about the job I'm still patient. But Mum you know it's not easy. I'm still worried. I replied to her with a low tone and my silly frowned face. You know mother daughter thing. "Yes baby, I know that. But don't worry. You will get a better job." She tells me." and what are you up to today. I have a couple of things to do at my workplace. Can you accompany me today and help me please? If you have nothing much to do I think it's the best for you." That is what she always tell me to bring me out of my comfort zone. For real she knows better. Being in the house alone, and having nothing to do , is more stressing. Okey Mum I will come. But I'm not ready yet." It's okey darling let me leave, because it's already late you will come when you're done getting ready." She hugs me and goes towards the front door " Hey don't fail to come. And hurry up don't be late. Now I have to leave. Take care." Okey mommy, I will not take long I will be there in the next 2 hours. I love you mummy. She leaves the door behind her. Immediately after she's gone I quickly goes upstairs to my room to get ready. I goes to the bathroom and take a shower. I dressed up, Combs my hair, put on my makeup, where are my sneakers , takes my jacket and I hurries downstairs. Oh! I forgot about my coffee. I went to the kitchen to take my coffee. It's already cold. I have to warm it. I put it in the microwave and turns it on. I take some biscuits and place them on the dining table waiting for my coffee too warm. "Beep! Beep!" that's my phone. I have to check it maybe it's Jannie. Jannie is my best friend. Actually she is my childhood friend. Maybe she want us to hang out today. But I can't. I have to go and I ask my mum today as I promised her. I goes to the living room takes my phone and unlocks it to check if it was Jannie. No it is not her. it is a message from LC WAIKIKI. It is the biggest company in the city .It is my dream company to work at. But I know it's their normal work advert. That is what they always do updating their works everyday. I don't expect much from them. I unlocked the email to check. OMG!! I can't believe this. No no no no no... I have to check again. It can't be. Wait a minute. What!!!I couldn't believe my eyes. My job application have been approved. "Hello Esther we have approved your job application. Congratulation you qualified to work as a secretary at LC WAIKIKI. Please come tomorrow for an interview at 8 a.m. In the morning good luck." That was the message. I couldn't still believe it. This has been my dream company for long. I have applied for a job there many times without qualifying. Finally I qualified. I'm so happy. Couldn't hide my happiness. I cheered up and jumped around the house like a mad lady. I have to call Mummy. I have to share the good news with her.I thought as scrolled my phone to check my mum's contact. No, I will not call her. Have a go at the workplace and share the good news with her. I grabbed my hand bag and the umbrella, not minding about the coffee anymore ,locks the door and hurried down to the bus stop. What is taking this bus so long. I said impatiently . All I wanted is to see Mum and share the good news with her. Finally the bus is here. I jumped in the bus and sat down. Still not believing I took my phone and checked the message again. For real, everyone could tell how happy I was. After like twenty minutes ."Hello young lady you have not paid" the conductor told me. Sorry I forgot .I'm already at my destination.I took my bag to get money. Excuse me here is the Fair. " Thank you but you seem so happy." He said. Yes I am. I highlighted off the bus, and hurried down to my mommy's workplace. Mummy!mummy! I have good news for you. I ran to her and hugged her. Expressing my happiness. Holding my hands she asked me," What is this all about?Why are you so happy? What happened?"Holding her arms and smiling happily I told her. Mummy!! guess what... No wait let me show you. You won't believe this. I took my phone from my hand bag, unlocked it and shown her the email. I'm going for a job interview tomorrow at LC WAIKIKI company. Can you believe that Mummy. Finally, do you know this is my dream company I've always been telling you about. I'm so happy I can't believe this is happening. I told her jumping everywhere. "Come down girl. It's just an interview. Are you sure you get a job there. That's a big company you know that." She told me. I didn't even think about that. It is just an interview. But I'm very sure I'm going to get a job there. I still have great great hopes." Don't worry darling, believe in yourself you will get a job I was just kidding I believe in you. you are such a hard-working lady just like Mummy." my mum told me. Mummy!, I will do my best.You trust me, right. I told her. I want to hurry up here, finish quickly arranging the store and go check tomorrow's outfit because I have decent as a secretary at the interview. After 2 hours I was done with my work. I had to prepare and go for clothes shopping. Since I had no decent secretary outfits.Mummy, I'm done now I have a lot to do today. I have to go and look for Jannie. I want her to take me for shopping." I see now you have a lot to do for real.Is Jannie not at work today." she asked me. No, today is on Tuesday it's her off day. I think she is home. She has not said anything today not even calling me maybe she's relaxing. Perhaps I have to call her. I told Mum reaching my phone in my bag to call my friend." yeah you should call her to know if she is home and check if she is busy." Phone ringing... Hello Jannie.How is you. Hope you're doing fine. What's up today you've not reached me and it's your off day is everything okay?" Hello garlfie." she replied." I am fine how you and everyone. Sorry I didn't know I had to do some laundry and cleaning.You know, I had alot because last week I didn't have an off-day. But I was to call you later, I want to see you." she told me. I thought you were free I wanted us to go shopping. I have good news for you."No no no I'm done with everything I'm just relaxing now. I can't wait for the good news just tell me now I'm so curious." she said. She's my best friend whenever she is free she's always there for me and am always there for her. We have been they are for each other since childhood. Okey I'm at my mum's workplace can you come please all I come and pick you." since you're in town let me come there's no need to come here and we will have to go back to town again." actually it is making sense, there iso need going back home and then coming back to town again I still have to wait for her. I decided to help my mum tidy up the store as I'm waiting for my friend to come." What did Jannie say? Are you not going for shopping?" Mummy asked. We are still going but she is home I have to wait her here .She's coming." let me send you to the supermarket before she come. Check the money in my bag and go can you buy a packet of milk. Buy some snacks for yourself because you've not taken lunch." she told me. I took the money and rush to the supermarket. I found Jenny was already there. Hi Jannie you didn't take long. Were you around town?" No I was home but I did not take long waiting for the bus today. Okay now sit down before we go and tell me the good news. I'm so curious." she told me giving me a seat next to her. She was so curious to hear the good news. Okay here we go now remember the application you insisted to me not to give up for LC Waikiki company. They sent me an email and I have to go tomorrow for an interview." Wow that's great bestie. You see I told you not to give up and now here you are. I'm so happy for you congratulations." she was so happy indeed. Now I want us to go for shopping. Specifically clothes shopping you know. I have to look presentable as a secretary at the interview. I don't have anyone else to me at this. I know you with fashion. I have no doubt you will men get the best outfits. She laughed and agreed We stood up and waste my Mum goodbye and headed to the mall. since I did not have enough cash I had to go to the cheapest mall. I trusted Jannie in fashion. We reached at Mall. It was not far from my mum's workplace. Okay now bestie I need. We chose different types of official clothes and I want to try them all. It is fun doing shopping with you girl. You know I I don't love doing shopping. But with you you're such a vibe." yeah what do you expect from me. I'm a model girl I should love shopping. And this is the best moment ever. Now we have chosen enough of your clothes can you help me now choose mine you know I can't come here and go back home without two dresses." she told me.Jannie love shopping. Finally we are done.We can go home now. It's getting late. Since we had a lot off things to carry we took taxi home. In less than an hour we were finally home. My mum is already home. We were welcomed with a sweat aroma smell of Chinese fried rice. That's my Favourite meal. Mommy! That's my meal thank you so much. I was so happy. Dinner is already prepared Jannie. Let's have dinner together and you will go home." okay it's too late now." it's not that late let's have dinner first. It won't take long. just stay please. We had it at the dining table and had dinner together. After we were all done Jannie decided to go home. But I had to understand because she go to work early in the morning. " I have to leave now Essy. It is almost 9 p.m. Tomorrow I'm waking up early I have a lot of work to do at my workplace. We had the best evening ever I really appreciate. Mummy, I have to go to bed now it's late and I have to wake up early tomorrow for the interview." ok good night darling I will wake you up early so that you can't be late." I went upstairs to my room, freshened up for the long day put on my pyjamas and laid down on my bed. I couldn't stop thinking about interview tomorrow. I'm so happy but still nervous.I don't know what is going to happen. I'm still thinking of the questions I'll be asked at the interview. And their working environment,I hope it will be a conducive working environment not a toxic environment like the previous job. Anyway this is a great company, I know the working environment there is respectable and it's suitable for everyone. I was very happy that I couldn't even get to sleep. I took my laptop and decided to watch a movie. I didn't notice when I fell asleep at last. Beep!Beep!beep!beep! That's my alarm ringing. It's already 6:30 a.m. In the morning. I have to wake up get ready before I get late. It's a new day dawn . I am finally going to work today I have an interview ,I better wake up now. I said lazily checking my phone. I'm so happy I can't believe the day is here it's a great day. I woke up dragged myself to the bathroom to take a shower. In 10 minutes I'm already done freshening up. I dress up ,did my makeup and puts on my sneakers. Checked my CV ,my certificates and my identity card to make sure I carry everything that is required at the interview. Now I'm done and everything is ready, I have to prepare breakfast before it gets late. I walked down the stairs heading to the kitchen. Oh Mummy you are already up. Good morning. What's for breakfast can I help you please." Good morning girl.You know I always wakes up early am not like my naughty lazy head baby here." She tells me with her hands on my head patting me.Mummy, don't say that .Don't ruin my hair especially today.I told her smiling .For sure am lazy waking up.I think it's normal for most of us." It's just a few minutes."I answered with a fake smile thinking how my mum will take minutes to get ready and she takes almost the whole day there. Let me just believe she won't take long. "But make sure you have taken your breakfast before I come." she said to me holding my shoulders. And be fastI don't want to be late today. She went to her room and I was left in the kitchen to finish with this breakfast thing. I really hate making breakfast I had to do it since I had no otherwise. It's 7:30 a.m.now everyone is ready taking my breakfast and my mum is ready she has finished her breakfast too. We have to go now it will get late. We better go before car stuck in the morning traffic." I hope you have everything you have not forgotten anything behind or your documents. And it's cold today please take your trench coat with you umbrella put it in your bag." my mum told me she is always concerned as it comes to my health. This is so sweet of her. But I'm still mama's baby I can't deny that it doesn't matter my age. " Have you locked all the doors and the gate? Please get in the car, you can't be late today. It's almost time we have to drive a bit faster.." my mum said I entered in the car and she starts the engine. Mummy,Do you think I'll be hired after the interview. I am nervous. I'm happy but still worried about what is going to happen there. I hope I will answer all the questions perfectly I hope I will and I believe believe that because I really wanted this and this is for me." Take a deep breath don't be nervous, I believe in you is what you wanted.Now you have to stop worrying. Think positively. When you get there, relax , take a deep breath and show your courage don't be afraid of anything. After all you're not going to work with superheroes of superhumans. They are all humans like you.
