Next morning the sun was already high in the sky, Maera opened her eyes and Moira was still fast asleep. So she slowly got up and grabbed her towel, she went to the bathroom and stood under the shower letting the water flow over her and feeling its fall of showers upon her body' then her mind drifted back to the moment Spencer had been kissing her.
She was trying to figure out what was it that she felt? it was like a fire burning within her and when he had pulled her into his arm she could not resist. is it love? oh no it isn't. she washed herself, trying not to think of anything, and stepping out of the bathroom door, she could hear Mr. Ramond talking with Moira, and running to him said' "what did you just say?" Mr. Ramond, said' "your father just rang me up this morning while I was in the office saying your friends Dianne Strove, and Betty, and three more are coming and will arrive here 5:00 pm." "Yeah" shouted Maera, running to the bedroom and shutting the door behind her. Going out again through the door she was dressed in blue jean pants and T shirt.
Moira took her turn in the bathroom. Mrs. Ramond said aloud for the girl's to hear' "girl's Stella called, and wants you two to go help her; it is her daughter Hellen's birthday party, and she will be hosting it in the evening so your arriving friends, will be able to join the party"" Wow I think I love this island" Maera in a singsong voice
As the two sister's were ready to leave, Maera ran to Mrs.Ramond who was cleaning their bedroom, and asked"can I ask you a question" yes you can, Maera, Maera paused a little before she asked "is Spencer a labour in the fish factory too?" "Oh yes, and he is the master of the Kungfu club here on Sandry island so dont try messing around with him " yes and thank you. He is a good man the girl who marries him will be so lucky, say's Mrs.Ramond. Maera lifted her eye brows and said good bye. And off went the two sister's and Solaz following after them.
Reaching the home of the Fairs, they sat beneath the huge mangoe tree to take a rest, they were out of breath from climbing up the hill.
Mrs Fairs saw them and called out "rest a little and then come on in there's cold juice here to quench your thirst from walking."
There was a lot of work to be done' cooking , and baking and frying, and as Moira and Maera were good in cooking, maybe taking after their father, so everyone was busy, then Stella asked Maera to go down to the shop and buy six beers for her, and they went on with the cooking while Maera walked down the short cut behind the Fair's home, that leads directly to the power station below and which stood opposite the shop. As she reached the power station she saw a beautiful house just ahead before crossing the road to the shop. So she walked on till she reached the house and was just passing the door when she thought she saw a familiar figure of a man standing at the door but did not want to be caught staring so she just walked on head held high, oh if its not my beautiful angel good morning my beautiful Angel, she turned to look at the man' and he took her by surprise that nearly tripped over, it was Spencer the last man she wanted to encounter. and she continued walking forward
never daring to look back.
