“It didn’t seem that way to me ,Madeline”. Came his smooth voice from behind her.
For some reason her breath hitched and her heart flipped, panic began building up within her and adrenaline began clouding her judgment, she wanted to run, somehow she wanted to shove the guards out of her way and run out into the night, she wanted out.
Slowly she turned around to face him. He stood at the top of the stairs, his hands splayed on the banister as he leaned against it, cold eyes regarded her from above like and owl would. He had changed his outfit she noticed, in place of the regal suit was a casual outfit of black sweatpants and a black hoodie, he may have been dressed casually but his aura was anything but that.
She swallowed hard, with her heart pounding so hard against her chest all she wanted to do was dash through those doors and run, but his gaze seemed to have frozen her where she stood, from down here his eyes seemed almost silver, almost…..
“You of all people should know how unsafe the streets are”. He said snapping her back to her senses.
She cleared her throat quietly.
“I...I do”. She stuttered. “But I would like to leave nonetheless”.
“So late at night?”. He asked her. “One would think you were running from something, unless you truly are”.
His words were thick with meaning.
She swallowed another lump that had formed in her throat.
“I would like to leave now, thank you for your help and hospitality”. She said.
With that she turned around to face the guards again. Had she been looking at him she would have seen the sadistic smile that curved his lips.
“You seem to have forgotten our deal, Madeline”. He said causing her to turn around. “You said you’d do whatever I asked of you in exchange for my help, do you remember?”.
She hadn’t actually meant that, she wasn’t thinking straight when she said that, she had been desperate and scared.
“I never let an unfinished deal go”. He said straightening up.
“I…I didn’t mean…”. She stuttered quietly.
“Madeline Cooper, for now I suggest you go back to your room and get some rest”. He said. “Someone will come get you for breakfast tomorrow”.
She shook her head, her fingers balled into fists.
“I want to leave”. She said. ”Unless I can’t”.
“Precisely, you can’t, not until I let you”. He said.
Her heart did another flip and her chest began rising and falling heavily. What had she gotten herself into?
“You…You can’t keep me here against my will, its kidnaping”. She said.
“What will you do? Call the police? Get yourself arrested?”. He said.
Tears begun clouding her vision as the horror of what was happening began setting in, she thought she was finally free, apparently she wasn’t, perhaps she had gotten herself into an even messier situation.
“Or would you rather I send you back to where you merely manage to escape from?”. He asked.
There was something about him, as though underneath his clean façade he was every bit as dirty as the bastards who had held her captive for so long ,or even more so. Fear begun creeping into her and she stepped back, her back bumped into the hard and sturdy chest of one of the guards.
“No”. she breathed, the tears she had been restraining finally broke free. “No, please”.
“Your stay here can be the best days of your life Madeline, you just have to do as you’re told and you will be fine”. He said.
She shook her head pleadingly.
“Please”. She said, her voice hoarse with emotions. “Please”.
His gaze raked over her slowly, demeaningly, as though she was nothing but an object.
“A deal is a deal Madeline”.
”This wasn’t what I meant, this wasn’t part of the deal”. She said.
“You still don’t understand, do you?”. He said as he began walking down the stairs slowly, majestically. “you are here because of a deal you struck yourself, your end of the deal makes you an object ,a tool I can use whenever I please”.
An object. A tool.
Words she never thought she would be classified as again words she thought she could she could escape from.
It wasn’t long before he was standing in front of her, her petit frame made it too easy for his 6’something to tower over her effortlessly,
“You belong to me now, Madeline”. He spoke lowly.
The rich and mind-altering smell of his cologne invaded her senses harshly, his aura seemed to choke her, the dominance he exuded sort to bring her to her knees.
“Who are you?”. She asked, her voice low and quiet.
Yet another sadistic smile curved his lips.
“Your owner”. He answered darkly.
He reached out, his fingers gently brushed her semi wet hair from her face, she filinched and pulled away from his touch as though he burned her.
He smirked.
“Remember Madeline, how you behave will determine how you be treated here, you do not have to be a prisoner”. He said. “Consider yourself a guest, a guest with certain boundaries of course”.
Standing there she couldn’t help but wonder what wrong she had done in her past life to deserve such a wretched existence.
“What will you do to me? For how long will you keep me here?”. She asked.
He glanced at the watch on his wrist.
“It’s late Madeline, I am in no mood to continue our conversation, and I certainly am in no mood for a Q&A session”. He said. “Go to your room or I’ll have these gentlemen escort you”.
She blinked and more tears left her eyes and went staining her cheeks with their wetness. A cruel world it was, a cruel, cruel world.
“Goodnight, Miss Cooper”. He said and stepped aside.
Saying nothing more she rushed away quickly.
