JAZMINE SEBASTIAN. Zade Lethal looked exactly the same, his eyes still empty of emotion except for a lingering anger, and his forehead perpetually creased from a scowl that had become a permanent fixture on his face. I felt a surge of relief at having rejected him the moment I discovered he was my mate; his intense gaze still sent shivers down my spine. “I still feel the mate bond.” my wolf said, she has been going on and on about feeling a connection between I and Zade. “Lisa, I’m certain whatever you feel is just a spark from the previous bond. Please, I want nothing to do with Zade.” I tell her, I suddenly felt her disappointment through our link. She immediately severed the link, making me let out a deep breath, I continued to get dressed for the meeting. The prime minister seemed very worried when we spoke last night and when I asked him to tell me the reason for the meeting, he refused to and said he would only announce it when all the other leaders were present, making me understand the severity of the situation. Nevertheless, I got ready and joined the other leaders for breakfast. I sat next to Xander who placed a peck on my cheeks. “You look beautiful.” he complimented and I smiled. I exchanged pleasantries with the other leaders who included the Queen of dragons, the king of griffins, the Queen of the witches, and the king of the night walkers. Zade's absence had been a blessing, and I didn't bother myself with his whereabouts. We were served our meals, and I ate in peace, listening to the other leaders' conversations while Xander and I exchanged amused glances. But the tranquility was short-lived, as Zade walked in with his friend, engrossed in a heated discussion. What caught my attention, however, was the seething glance he shot at Xander and me, his eyes burning with a venomous intensity that made my skin crawl. The hatred in his gaze was palpable, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. “Good morning, Zade.” Xander was quick to say to him. Xander wasn’t aware that he was my ex mate, in fact no one was aware of this except for me and Zade. Zade took a seat, his gaze fixed on Xander and me. “Good morning,” he replied to Xander, his tone devoid of warmth. The other leaders remained silent, their eyes darting away, seemingly intimidated by his presence. Who wouldn't be? He was Zade Lethal, a name that commanded fear and respect. Shortly after, the prime minister arrived, and we exchanged courteous greetings before falling into an awkward silence. I was eager to conclude the meeting and leave, as being in the same room as Zade was making my heart race in ways I never thought possible. My nerves were on edge, a rare feeling for me. After finishing our meal, we requested a break until the meeting resumed at 2 pm. Upon hearing that, Xander and I stood up, his hand instinctively wrapping around my waist in a familiar gesture. As we were about to leave, Xander turned to Zade. “Zade, after the meeting, can we meet and talk? I’ve been wanting to address an issue.” Xander said, Zade, his eyes scarce of emotions nodded as he sipped his tea. I and Xander left and we decided to watch a movie together, it was a 2 hour long movie. After it was over, I went to my room, only to find Zade seated on my bed. I cleared my throat. “What are you doing in my room, Zade?” I asked, I tried to hide the fear in my voice. He lifted his head up and stared at me, his eyes scarce of tenderness. “Our bond hasn’t broken yet, I want not to see you with the blood sucker.” he said, his voice curt. I laughed. “I am not your maid nor your mate, so you do not tell me what to do. Regarding our bond, it has been broken, so please leave my room.” I said. He stood up, he took calm strides toward me and closed the door without touching it, reminding me of his powers. As he stood before me, his eye color changed. “You are mine, not the blood sucker’s.” his voice was different, his wolf was speaking. This made my wolf so excited with need, I swallowed hard and tried to move away. “Zade, leave my room.” I said, fear not letting me speak further. Suddenly his eyes returned to normal, and he cleared his throat. He didn’t say a word to me and left the room, I held my chest, realizing that the mate bond was indeed not broken, fear gripped me as I realized what it meant. I was still connected to that crazy man, oh no I am going to find a way to break this bond, no matter what it wakes. That aside, I got dressed for the meeting and headed to the room where it would be held. I didn’t wait for Xander and I sat alone. No one was there and I was left to stare at the huge board on the screen, my heart pounding in my chest. “Jazmine, I told you I could still feel a bond.” Lisa, my wolf said. I rolled my eyes. My wolf wasn’t happy about this information and severed our link. “Not for very long, I’ll reject him again.” I said. The other leaders started walking in and so did Xander, he walked over to me, his eyes filled with worry. “Are you okay Jazmine?” he asked and I nodded. “Are you sure?” I nodded yes again. He took it as a sign not to pester me to speak, he was very thoughtful. He only held my arm assuringly, and that was all it took to calm my nerves. As the prime minister took his seat, he said. “Where the hell is Zade?” Everyone chuckled. As though he heard his name, he walked in, his aura making the room fall silent. As he sat, he cleared his throat. “I’m sorry I kept you all waiting, I had some important matters to deal with.” he said, his eyes glancing my way. I looked away. The prime minister dusted a huge book on the table, he then turned to Zade who was sitting next to him. “You’re the reason we are here, you seem to like creating trouble for the world.” he said, Zade looked calm, but everyone looked confused including myself. “What trouble have I created again? The last time I checked, I haven’t killed anyone this week.” Zade’s eyes glanced at the king of the Griffin’s as he spoke. I could see the fear in the man’s eyes. Everyone was aware of the beef between the two kingdoms. “This isn’t about your kills Zade, it’s about you and Queen Jazmine.” hearing my name, I sat upright. “What about me? What have I done?” I asked, the prime minister cleared his throat. "It appears that you both are mates, and you previously rejected each other, but the rejection was null and void. This nullification destroyed the Ember Septum, which is now causing trouble for both our lands due to Zade's powers. The Septum is on the brink of collapse, and we all know the catastrophic consequences that will follow." Everyone gasped, they began talking amongst themselves and I turned to Xander and he stared at me confused, rage filling his eyes. Zade cleared his throat. “Silence.” he said very calmly but it was heard loudly, the room fell silent. “What are you suggesting? Because the septum breaking means my powers will go haywire, like a magical meltdown! And that is dangerous. I can’t afford to hurt the people of my land.” Zade said, his eyes showing concern for once. He sounded very worried about his pack, something I never knew he could do. He seemed like a selfish fellow. “What I am suggesting is Queen Jazmine and you living under the same roof until we can find a way to power the septum.” The prime minister suggested. Xander got up, landing his fist on the table. “Is there no other way? Jazmine and I are to create our mate bond soon, and marry. I do not appreciate my future Queen staying with another man.” Every type of tenderness was scarce from Xander’s voice. He looked very angry. The prime minister smiled. “That is another man’s mate, you cannot forge a bond with her if it isn’t broken. And no, there is no other way, you must have to be patient because this isn’t just about you.” The prime minister was stern in his speech, adding more to Xander’s anger. Xander took a deep breath, he stared at me angrily and tried to walk away but I got up and held his arm. “Xander, I am sorry.” I tried to speak to him but he yanked his arm away from mine, his power setting off and pushing me to the ground. He didn’t look back and walked away, I got up and walked back to my seat. My eyes glanced at Zade and he looked very angry, along with the other leaders who looked shocked. The room fell into silence and the other leaders stared at me, some in mockery while others in pity. The prime minister on the other hand further discussed the issue and made it clear to us that this could lead to great danger and cause a lot of deaths. “So staying with Zade under the same roof will stop this?” I asked and the minister nodded. “Okay, as long as this will protect my people, I’m down for it.” I said, glancing at Zade. “I’m down for it too, as long as it won’t be forever.” Zade made it clear, his eyes glancing my way. “Very well, I’m glad we have all agreed to this…” I got up and left before the prime minister could finish speaking. I headed for Xander’s room where I found him seated on his bed, his eyes staring at the wall angrily. “Xander.” I called out to him. He didn’t flinch so I walked up to him and made my way toward him, I sat next to him. “When were you planning on telling me?” he asked. I wiped the tears on my face. “It wasn’t necessary.” He turned to look at me, he grabbed my arm firmly, making me flinch. "You didn't need to tell me that you're Zade Lethal's mate. Do you even know who Zade Lethal is?" he asked. “He’s just a king.” I said and he laughed. “Just a king? Zade Lethal is a very powerful supernatural leader, he owns all of the territories, including yours and mine. And you thought to hide it from me that you were his mate, I mean is his mate a good idea?” he asserted. I was very confused but I took deep breaths and spoke anyway. “I never meant harm, and I do not love Zade lethal, it is you I want.” Xander laughed. “That explains why you were in his room that day.” he said. “That explains nothing, I thought it…” he cut me short. He grabbed me by the arm and pulled me toward the door, it hurt. “Get out of my room, I want nothing to do with you.” he grumbled angrily, and pushed me out of his room. I fell to the ground, gazing up at the feet before me. As I looked up, I met Zade's gaze, his face stern and scarce of a smile. I braced myself for him to turn away, leaving me to struggle, but instead, he surprised me by offering a hand up. He pulled me to my feet and locked eyes with me, his wolfish intensity tempered by a hint of restraint. Then, without warning, Xander was sent flying across the room, Zade's hand never moving from his side. It was a stark reminder of his formidable powers, his ability to command with a mere thought. Indeed, he was a force to be reckoned with, a powerful leader in every sense. “How dare you touch my mate?” His voice was deeper, his eyes were scarce of color, a complete shade of black. He looked like he was about to kill Xander. He launched him across the wall again. I had to intervene. “Zade, stop this.” I yelled loudly, I tried to touch him but he pushed me away with a power surge. I didn’t know what to do, Xander looked wounded. He couldn’t fight him back. “Zade, stop this!” I cried out, struggling to tap into my powers. It was a challenge, given my limited experience and shaky control. But before I could harness my abilities, Zade suddenly halted his attack and closed his eyes. When he opened them again, their fierce glow had subsided, returning to their normal color. He turned to me and grabbed my arm harshly, he pulled me out of the room despite my requests for him to let go of me. He wasn’t listening, and continued to pull me until we exited the mansion. “Are you crazy? Where are you taking me to?” My plea fell on deaf ears, as he pulled me towards his car, which he unlocked and opened with a mere thought, his powers on full display. He pushed into his car and locked it, then turned around and sat down and ignited it. He began to drive, not sparing me a glance or listening to my plea. “Where are you taking me to?” I asked. "To your home, you're my mate!” he declared, his voice commanding and filled with a sense of possessive ownership."
