Kael stepped closer.
“Your focus shifts when you move.”
“So how do I fix it?”
He paused for a moment.
Then he stepped behind her.
Aria stiffened slightly.
“Relax,” he said quietly.
His voice was close now.
Too close.
The warmth in her chest returned immediately.
Kael gently reached forward and adjusted her arms.
“Hold them like this.”
Aria swallowed slightly.
“Kael…”
“Focus on the magic.”
His hands remained lightly on her arms, guiding her position.
Her heart was definitely beating faster now.
“That’s hard when you’re standing this close.”
He chuckled softly.
“Excuses.”
Aria tried again.
Silver energy flowed around her fingers once more.
“Now walk,” Kael said quietly.
She took a step forward.
The magic stayed.
Another step.
Still there.
Aria blinked in surprise.
“Wait…”
Three more steps.
The silver threads continued swirling steadily around her hands.
She turned to look at him.
“It’s working.”
Kael smiled.
“See?”
Aria laughed in disbelief.
“You’re cheating.”
“How?”
“You distracted me so much I stopped overthinking it.”
“That’s not cheating.”
“That’s manipulation.”
Kael grinned.
“Effective manipulation.”
Aria rolled her eyes.
But the smile on her face remained.
The silver light around her hands slowly faded as she relaxed again.
For a moment neither of them moved.
The moonlight poured down between them.
And that strange connection returned once more.
Stronger than before.
