Bad Timing

Torren grinned. “Which means things must have gotten really bad.” Kael glanced toward Aria. “They have.” The trail curved around a jagged stone wall. Then suddenly the trees opened. Aria stopped in her tracks. Before them stood the temple. It rose from the mountainside like something carved by the moon itself. Massive white stone pillars stretched toward the sky, glowing faintly in the fading daylight. Ancient symbols covered the walls—circles, wolves, and crescent moons etched deep into the stone. At the center of the structure stood a massive open courtyard. And above it all… A huge circular opening in the roof allowed moonlight to pour directly into the temple. Aria stared. “Whoa.” Torren smirked. “Pretty nice, right?” Lyra walked toward the entrance. “The temple reacts to the MoonBorn’s presence.” Aria blinked. “What does that mean?” The moment she stepped closer… The symbols on the stone walls began to glow. Soft silver light spread through the carvings like liquid moonlight. Torren stopped walking. “Well that’s new.” Darius watched calmly. “The temple recognizes her.” Kael looked at Aria. “Looks like you’re home.” Aria stared at the glowing walls. “I’ve never even been here before.” Lyra pushed open the massive stone doors. “They were waiting for you.”
