Kael folded his arms and leaned against a nearby column. Aria glanced around at them. “You’re all just going to stand there?” Torren nodded enthusiastically. “Absolutely.” Lyra gestured toward the center of the platform. “Focus on the moonlight.” Aria closed her eyes. The silver energy pulsed around her again. “Now,” Lyra continued, “imagine pulling the energy inward instead of letting it explode outward.” Aria took a slow breath. The swirling light around her body began to slow. The power condensed, drawing closer to her skin. Torren’s eyebrows rose. “Well I’ll be—” The energy settled around Aria like a soft glow. Her eyes opened. The silver light remained—but it no longer cracked the ground or blasted outward. She was controlling it. Darius nodded with approval. “Impressive.” Kael smiled quietly. Aria looked down at her hands. “I’m doing it.” Lyra allowed herself a small smile. “Yes.” But Torren raised a finger. “Don’t celebrate yet.” Aria looked up. “Why?” Torren grinned. “Because controlling your power is step one.” Darius finished the thought calmly. “Learning to use it in battle is step two.” Kael’s smile faded slightly. “And Vargan won’t wait forever.” Lyra looked toward the dark mountains beyond the temple. “He’s gathering his army.” Aria clenched her glowing fists. The silver light pulsed stronger. “Then we better get ready.” Above them, the rising moon shone through the open ceiling. And for the first time… The MoonBorn was beginning to understand her power.
