I couldn't sleep again.
The war was coming and my mark wouldn't stop burning.
"Can't sleep?" Damian asked from the doorway. He hadn't slept either.
"I keep dreaming of a white wolf," I whispered. "She calls me."
Damian frowned. "Don't go to sleep. Not tonight."
Too late. My eyes closed.
I was in a field of silver flowers. Under 2 moons.
And standing there was the biggest, whitest wolf I’d ever seen.
Her eyes were gold. Ancient.
"Luna," she said in my head. "Moon-Blessed Daughter."
"What?"
"You are not like other Lunas. The Goddess blessed you at birth."
"Why?"
"Because the balance is breaking. Light needs you. Dark wants you."
The white wolf walked to me. Touched her nose to my mark.
"Kael was supposed to protect you. He failed. Damian was supposed to love you. He hasn't failed yet."
"What power do I have?"
"Both. Healing. And destruction." She showed me.
My hands glowed silver. I could heal a wound.
Then they glowed black. I could kill with one touch.
"Choose wisely," the wolf said. "The Witch comes tonight."
I woke up screaming.
BOOM.
The walls shook.
"The Witch!" Damian yelled, grabbing me. "She's here!"
We ran outside. The sky was black.
The Witch stood at our gates. And with her... Kael.
But his eyes were completely black now. No silver left.
"Give me the Luna," the Witch cackled. "Or I take the whole pack."
"No," Damian stepped forward.
The Witch raised her hand. Shadow bolts flew at us.
I didn't think. I just reacted.
My hands glowed.
Silver light shot out and blocked every single bolt.
Then the light turned black.
I screamed and pushed.
The black wave hit the Witch and sent her flying back 20 feet.
Silence.
Everyone was staring at me. Including me.
"What... what was that?" I whispered.
Damian looked at me like he was seeing a Goddess.
"That's your true power, Luna."
Kael saw it too. And he smiled.
"Perfect," he said. "Now you're even more valuable."
The Witch stood up, bleeding black. "Next time, little girl."
And they vanished.
I collapsed. Damian caught me.
"I'm scared," I whispered to him.
"Don't be," he said, kissing my forehead. "With that power... we can't lose."
But I had a feeling.
The war had just gotten 10 times worse.
