Chapter 13: Damian's Secret

347 Words
Three days. No attack. It was too quiet. Damian was different. Quiet. Distant. He kept staring at me like he was memorizing me. "What's wrong?" I finally asked him that night. "Nothing," he said. But his voice broke. "Lie." He sighed and pulled me to the balcony. The moons were full. "Luna, I need to tell you something." My stomach dropped. "10 years ago... I had a mate." The world stopped. "No." Mara looked at me. "He said... if you don't come, he will burn the village down. With 50 children inside." My blood ran cold. Damian pulled me behind him. "I won't let you go." I looked up at him. "Then come with me. But let me talk to him." "Why?" "Because I need to know if there's anything left of the man who once claimed to love me." Damian closed his eyes. Nodded once. "Fine. But if he touches you... I burn the world." [To be continued...]
