I couldn't sleep.
The Luna mark on my chest kept glowing every few minutes.
Damian sat in a chair across the room. All night. Guarding me.
"Why are you doing this?" I finally asked.
"Doing what?"
"Being... kind."
He looked at me. Really looked.
"Because no one was kind to you for 18 years."
Before I could answer, we heard it.
Howling. Angry howling from the gates.
Kael.
Damian was on his feet in a second. "Stay here."
"No," I said, standing up. "I'm done hiding."
At the gates, 50 of Kael's wolves were standing. And in front, Kael.
He looked wrecked. No sleep. Clothes torn.
His eyes found mine immediately. Then dropped to my chest where the mark was faintly glowing through my shirt.
"Luna," he said. His voice broke. "Come home."
Home? This wasn't my home.
"You rejected me," I said coldly. "Remember?"
"I was wrong!" he roared. "I didn't know! The Goddess played me!"
Damian stepped in front of me. "She's not yours anymore."
Kael ignored him. His silver eyes were only on me.
"Please. I'll do anything. I'll beg. I'll kneel."
And he did. Right there in the dirt. Alpha Kael Blackwood... on his knees.
My heart hurt. But my wolf remembered the pain.
"Get up," I said. "I don't want you on your knees. I want you to feel what I felt."
Kael looked up. Shock. Then understanding.
"You want revenge."
"Yes," I whispered. "And I'm going to get it."
Damian put a hand on my shoulder. Possessive. Protective.
Kael saw it and his wolf flashed in his eyes.
"She will never be yours again," Damian said.
"We'll see about that," Kael stood up. "This isn't over, Luna."
He left. But the way he looked at me...
It wasn't hate anymore.
It was obsession.
And I was starting to like it.
