Three days passed.
Damian barely left my side. He trained me. Fed me. Protected me.
But he never touched me. Not like that.
Until tonight.
The full moon was out. My Luna mark was burning.
"I need to run," I told Damian. "My wolf is restless."
He hesitated, then nodded. "I'll come with you."
We ran through the Blood Moon forest. Fast. Free.
For the first time, I wasn't the weakest. I was keeping up.
Then we stopped at a lake. The moon reflected on the water.
Damian stood behind me. Close.
"Do you feel it?" he asked quietly.
"What?"
"This." He turned me to face him. His black eyes were glowing.
He grabbed my wrist and pressed my hand to his chest.
His heart was pounding.
"Mine," he whispered. "You're mine, Luna."
My mark flared. So did his.
On his chest, right over his heart, the same crescent moon appeared.
But with a black wolf inside it.
"No," I gasped. "It can't be."
"Second chance mates," Damian said. "The Goddess gives us one. If we reject the first."
Kael was my first chance. And he threw me away.
Damian was my second.
"But you're my enemy," I whispered.
"And you're the girl who survived him," he said. "That makes you the strongest woman I know."
He leaned down. His lips were an inch from mine.
"Say no and I'll walk away. Say yes and I claim you tonight."
My wolf was screaming YES.
My heart was scared.
From the trees, we heard a twig snap.
Kael was watching us.
And his eyes... they were full of rage.
