Chapter 9: The War Begins

Morning came too fast. I woke up in Damian's bed. His arms around me. Our marks still glowing faintly. For a second, it felt like peace. Then the alarms started. WOOM. WOOM. WOOM. War horns. Damian was out of bed in 1 second. "Stay here," he ordered. "No," I said, already pulling on clothes. "I'm the Luna. I fight with my pack." At the gates, it was chaos. Kael's army. 200 wolves. All silver. All furious. And in front, Kael. But he wasn't the same. His eyes were black. Veins were black under his skin. He had made a deal. With something dark. "LUNA!" he roared. "Give her to me, Damian, and I spare your pack!" Damian shifted instantly. A massive black wolf with red eyes. "She's not a thing to give," his voice echoed in my head. "She's our Luna." The battle started. I wasn't weak anymore. My wolf came out - huge, black, with silver markings. I fought beside Damian. Claw for claw. Every time a wolf came near me, Damian was there. But Kael... Kael was only looking at me. He broke through 5 wolves just to get to me. "You did this to me!" he snarled, shifting back. "You made me weak!" "No," I said. "You did that to yourself when you rejected me." He lunged. Damian was faster. He slammed into Kael and they went rolling. Blood. Teeth. Claws. "Yield!" Damian growled over Kael's throat. Kael laughed, bleeding. "This isn't over. The Goddess will see. She belongs to me." Then he shifted and ran. His army retreated with him. It was over. For now. That night, Damian bandaged my wounds. "I'm sorry," he whispered. "I should have protected you better." I touched his face. "You did. You claimed me." Outside, in the dark forest, Kael was watching. And he was smiling.
