Chapter 2: Sold to the Enemy

Pain was all I knew. The rejection bond was still bleeding inside me when Alpha Kael dragged me by the arm. "The treaty says if an Alpha rejects his mate, she becomes property of the pack," he growled. "And I’m selling you to our enemy." My knees gave out. Enemy. The Blood Moon Pack. The wolves who killed my parents. "No," I whispered. "Please." His silver eyes were ice. "You’re nothing to me, Omega." They put chains on my wrists. Silver chains. They burn. The carriage ride to Blood Moon territory took 3 days. 3 days of no food. No water. On the third night, Kael came to check on me. "You’re pathetic," he sneered, looking at my bruises. "Good. The Blood Moon Alpha will kill you in a week." I didn’t cry. Not anymore. Inside me, something woke up. Something angry. The wolf I never had... was waking. The gates of Blood Moon Pack were huge. Black. Covered in bones. And standing there, waiting, was HIM. The Blood Moon Alpha. Taller than Kael. Broader. With black eyes and a scar across his throat. He looked at me. At my chains. At Kael. And then he smiled. A slow, dangerous smile. "So," he said, voice like gravel. "This is the rejected Luna Kael is so eager to get rid of?" He grabbed my chains and pulled me to him. "She’s mine now." Behind us, I heard Kael’s jaw clench. Why did that sound like... jealousy? [To be continued...]
