The Veil of Forgotten Truths

Some truths aren’t hidden... they’re buried.

For eighteen years, Kira Blake thought she was ordinary an unremarkable student working in the quiet archives of the Celestine Library. But everything changes the day she stumbles upon a book that shouldn’t exist. Bound in cracked leather and stamped with a strange symbol the same one that mysteriously appeared on her shoulder the book whispers a single, devastating truth:The world you know is a lie.Behind the Veil, a secret barrier built centuries ago, magic thrives and other realms burn. The Wardens keepers of the Veil have shaped humanity’s understanding of reality, deciding who lives in ignorance and who is erased. And Kira, newly Marked, is no longer invisible. She can see the cracks. She can cross between worlds. And she has something rarer still: the ability to see through the Veil, to the truths even the Wardens cannot hide. Now hunted by monsters from between realms and the Wardens themselves, Kira is forced to flee with Soren, a defector with secrets of his own. In the bioluminescent forests of the Threshold Realm and the endless shelves of the Deep Archive, she begins a brutal training under Elias, an ancient Archivist who trades knowledge for dangerous debts. Each lesson peels back another layer of the lie she’s lived and draws her closer to a truth that could shatter entire worlds.Because the Veil isn’t just a wall. It’s alive. It’s hungry. And it’s built from the very souls of those who came before her.If Kira survives her training, she might uncover what the Wardens are truly hiding. If she fails, she’ll become just another thread woven into their endless lattice of lies.In a story of conspiracies and hidden magic, where every ally has an agenda and every truth has a cost, The Veil of Forgotten Truths asks: how far would you go to know what’s real and what would you sacrifice to tear the lie down?

## Chapter 1: The Library of Lies
The truth was that Kira had been lied to her entire life. She discovered this on an unremarkable Tuesday, in the basement archives of the Celestine Library, when she found a book that shouldn't exist. The volume was leather bound, unmarked, and tucked behind a row of agricultural census records from 1847. No title. No author. Just a symbol burned into the cover a circle bisected by three lines. The same symbol that had appeared on her shoulder the morning of her eighteenth birthday. Kira glanced toward the stairs. The head archivist, Master Tollen, had warned her never to venture into the restricted section. But restricted from whom? She was the only research assistant willing to catalog the moldering collection of forgotten documents that no one cared about anymore. She opened the book. The first page contained a single sentence, The Veil exists to keep you comfortable in your ignorance. Her hands trembled. She turned the page. You are Marked. You can see what others cannot. The world you know is a construct a carefully maintained illusion designed to keep humanity docile. Beyond the Veil lies the truth: magic is real, other realms exist parallel to yours, and you are one of the few who can cross between them. Kira slammed the book shut. This was insane. Magic wasn't real. Other realms were the stuff of children's stories and fantasy novels. She was a university student studying archival science, not some chosen hero in a... The lights flickered. When they steadied, a man stood three feet away from her. He hadn't been there a moment ago. Couldn't have been. She would have heard him on the stairs. He was tall, sharp featured, with silver eyes that seemed to reflect light that wasn't there. His clothing was strange, a long coat that looked simultaneously medieval and futuristic, made of fabric that shifted between black and deep purple with each movement. "You opened it," he said. His voice was calm, matter-of-fact. "That was either very brave or very stupid." Kira grabbed the nearest object a wooden bookend and held it like a weapon. "Who are you? How did you get in here?" "My name is Soren. I got in here the same way you're about to get out through a door that doesn't exist for people who can't see it." He nodded toward the wall behind her. She didn't turn around. "There's no door there. That's a solid wall." "Is it?" His expression didn't change. "Look again. You've been Marked. The Veil is already beginning to thin for you." Against every instinct, Kira glanced over her shoulder. There was a door. Ornate, made of dark wood with silver inlay, standing in a wall that had been solid stone her entire life. Light leaked from its edges, soft and golden and utterly impossible. "What is this?" she whispered. "The beginning of the truth," Soren said. "And the end of your comfortable lies."
