Silence_
Complete silence fell on the crowd as the famed Vice Chancellor of Silverwood College entered the orientation hall...
"Oh, there she is" Richard smirked as he glanced at the Chancellor.
"Didn't expect to meet her here"
Jane thought to herself
The Vice Chancellor was the youngest one to take the position... and...
She was Richard Jackson's elder sister!
Rihanna Jackson--
"Hmm, quite some faces in the crowd"
Rihanna thought as she sighted the three students.
"Good morning everyone. It is a pleasure to meet you freshmen... Although... Some amongst us aren't" Rihanna started facing Richard_
"It's a new year, also a new chance. Of course, it wasn't easy to get here... It also won't be easy to stay here. I really don't have much to say to you. Everything you need will be administered to you. So... Without further ado, be on your way"
Rihanna left in a flashy way, her shiny black hair waving in the spotlight, her plump lips smiling softly.
Everything about her stood elegant, reserved and confident.
"Sis! You won't greet your dear brother?"
Richard said after all the students had left.
For a moment, Rihanna paused, glanced at Richard just once... then, she turned away, refusing to look at him again_
"Now now. Rihanna, it's been a while"
Jane said, as she elegantly walked into the hall.
"Jane Frost. Long time no see"
Rihanna commented.
"You too"
Jane said, tightly clutching the campus map.
Rihanna gave a weary smile.
"Unfortunately, I don't have the time for chitchat today, Jane"
Rihanna said and walked out the hall accompanied by her bodyguards.
Meanwhile__
Joseph stood at the entrance of the hall, watching from a distance, the rumored Jane Frost.
"She is really different from what I thought"
Joseph said to himself
"Different from what?"
Christopher, Joseph's friend from before said as he placed his hand on Joseph's shoulder.
"Nothing."
Joseph said and turned to leave.
" Dude, stop being so cheesy! Wanna have some burgers?!"
Christopher said as he chased after Joseph.
Hearing his voice, Jane turned around swiftly, with her dangling in Richard's face.
Unfortunately, she couldn't see him, for he had left.
Richard watched her eyes and saw the longing gaze in her eyes, and his smirk turned into a huge frown.
"Hmph. Never thought a girl like you would be attracted to Ordinaries"
Richard smirked as he left the hall.
Just then__
"Miss Frost! A word!"
Anne, Jane's personal assistant called.
A few hours later, Jane haggardly walked back to her dorm in the rain, tears falling from her eyes.
Joseph stood at a convenience store and watched silently, his gaze revealing concern.
"Young man! Your change is $50"
The cashier called to Joseph.
"One more thing please! I'd like an umbrella"
Joseph respectfully said...
"Father, why? Why can't you just let me live my life?!" Jane mumbled to herself as she walked in the rain, shivering.
Joseph slowly walked behind her, letting her speak her woes, each step he took was calculated, to avoid startling her, or making her scared.
But, as soon as he saw a change in her posture, a change that hinted unconsciousness...
He swiftly caught her in his arms... gently, yet swiftly.
He used the umbrella to shield them both as he carried her to a nearby shed.
He laid her down on the bench gently and covered her with his coat.
His gaze slowly shifted to her glass like face, pale and delicate, her faded lips due to fever, her drenched shut eyes, and most of all, her bright red hair.
Joseph's facial expression slowly turned from concern to curiosity_
He gently held her in his arms hoping she'd wake up soon.
Meanwhile__
A few distances to their right, was a blogger, who secretly took their pictures in an angle that perfectly suggested intimacy in a shed during the rain.
When the rain finally stopped.
Joseph felt Jane's forehead to see if she had a fever, and her head was burning hot!
"I really need to get her to an hospital quickly!"
Joseph said as he carried her on his back.
Just then, Jane's phone buzzed loudly.
"Miss Frost? Where are you? Please respond!"
Anne said worriedly on the phone.
"Whoever this may be, can you meet me at the sick bay in 10 minutes, curfew will soon be enforced"
Joseph said and cut the call.
Since the floor was still quite slippery, Joseph slowly walked to avoid falling down with an extra 45kg on his back_
When he got to the sick bay...
He slowly laid Jane down on the sick bed while a nurse tended to her.
As he turned to leave, the nurse called him back.
"Sorry, young man, are you her guardian?"
The nurse asked.
"No, her guardian will be here soon"
Joseph said and disappeared into the night.
What happened the next day, was the most thrilling story Silverwood would hear of.
