The Lesser Evil
I've learned to say No
Not because I disagree,
But because I've chosen to
Protect myself from the danger that is to come.
You may think me of being defiant,
An insurgent, but I am
Only trying to turn my No to a shield.
A shield to wear when you come with
Your battle of inevitable.
I learned that the more I say No
And stand with it,
I'm telling myself I get power over myself.
I battle between the choices of either
Being subjected to a relationship where only
One has the upper hand, or one where
We'd both work hand-in-hand.
I do things to please, you,
Hide my bad habits, to be "Perfect" for you
I didn't know you were supposed to
Love me with them.
So now,
Now I've got a better choice
It's either I fight back even if you'll leave, or I don't.
But you'll leave either way.
It's a fixer-upper,
These kinda things won't last.
You won't be here for much longer
You won't run with me a second lapse
So it's time for this choice
And I choose the lesser evil.
Even if it'll hurt me still
But you left me, no choice.
