Rhonda grumbled to herself as she drove home. She had not been involved in the discussion about having additional guests for dinner, which irritated her. She was annoyed when she was told that Bobby Norris would join them. When she was told that Buddy had been added to the guest list, she was peeved. The one saving grace was that she had put on a large slow cooker of ham and beans to cook all day. That meant all she needed to do was make a pan of cornbread, and they were set.
She breathed a sigh of relief as she pulled into the driveway and parked beside Junior’s truck. They were the only ones there, which meant he could explain why there were so many guests for supper. As she stepped onto the porch, Junior opened the door for her and greeted her with a smile.
