Jake and Kaitie had settled in for the night. They had gotten into a comfortable and familiar pattern. Each evening, after they had eaten dinner, they would lay together on the sofa. Jake would be on his back with Kaitie tucked beside him against the back of the couch. Freckles would usually join the pair by lying on Jake’s chest or abdomen so he could receive attention from both of them. However, tonight, he was stretched out on the other sofa, sleeping soundly.
Kaitie was rubbing her hand on Jake's chest. She could feel his defined muscles through the thin fabric of his T-shirt. He had shaved earlier in the day before going to meet Bobby. Kaitie was nearly intoxicated by the lingering scent of his shaving cream and aftershave.
