Kaitie awoke in a foul mood. She had hoped that having Jake beside her would have helped her sleep. Instead, feeling him beside her and unconsciously embracing her in his sleep had made her sleep restless and fitful. She inched her way out of bed and Jake’s grasp. When she stood, she turned to see that the man was still sound asleep. Kaitie’s frustration with him diminished as she watched him sleep. It had been the first time since he had regained consciousness that he had slept this well, which was essential to his recovery.
