Excitement was still in the air as it neared bedtime for Jake and Kaitie. Jake had been firing question after question at Kaitie as they watched television. Kaitie often laughed but did her best to answer all his questions as they shared a bowl of popcorn.
“What causes the smell they have? It is strong but not as overpowering as I had expected. I keep hearing that smell so bad that your eyes water,” Jake continued with his questions.
Kaitie chuckled, “That describes the group's patriarch in the summer. Think of it as the worst body odor you have ever smelled, mixed with an open sewer and a hint of skunk thrown in for good measure. The females and young are never that bad. They do have an odor like anything living in the forest will have, but it is nothing compared to the adult males.”
