His Mad Obsession

I took a deep breath while staring at my father. He's laying in the hospital bed without hope in his eyes. He's just staring at the ceiling with his sad eyes. My heart is breaking with this scene but what can I do in times like this? "Aurielle,"  "Mama,"  She gave me a sad smile and held my hand. "Your father has Colon Cancer. What should we do?" There's a tear in her eyes while looking at me. C-cancer? My hands trembled in fear. Did I enjoy my life so much that I forgot I have parents? Is this God's way of saying that I should go back and spend my time with them if I still have a chance? I closed my eyes. "P-papa," I called him and I tried so hard to smile. "Please fight for us, we can get through it." "A-aurielle, f-find your brother for me. We should be complete again before I go."  I shook my head as tears fell in my eyes. "What are you saying? You're not going anywhere." I can also hear my mother's sobs. This scene is heartbreaking. I can't understand why of all people why it has to be my father? He's a good man, he has a big heart so why?  "S-sweetheart, your father is right. You have to find your brother, our company is facing bankruptcy, find him so he can help us."  Brother? I'm still young when he left, I think I'm still in senior high when he left five years ago. We have no news about him and now my parents want me to find him?  But do I have a choice?  I sighed and nodded. "I will do everything to find him, Papa. I promise to bring him back to us."  He smiled. "We will wait for you, Aurielle." "What?"  I hugged the pillow and closed my eyes. "What should I do? They want me to find my brother."  Vanilla tapped my head. "So you will go to El Diablo? Of all places?"  I groaned in pain. Just thinking about that place makes me sick. That place is home for criminals, there are no rules or laws there. Damn, just thinking that I have to live there just to find my brother makes me want to run.  "You know my brother is such a pain in the ass. He left us because Papa kicked him out. He almost killed someone because he belongs to a frat. And now I think he's there, where he can do anything he wants without the government." I explained. If I love to follow rules well my brother is the opposite. He's been a member of a fraternity before. He's always in jail for doing nonsense things. I don't understand why his life is like that.  Vanilla grins. "I can go with you," she said. My eyes widened. "Really?" I asked. "But I heard your ex is there." The smile in her eyes vanished and rolled her eyes. "That bastard belongs to a gang, you know I've loved bad boys before."  I laughed. "Yeah, and he held you as a hostage before so he can escape."  I pouted. I think I understand why we're best friends. Our life is messy.  She chuckles. "But it turns me on," "What the heck, Vanilla?"  "Alright, I will contact that bastard and tell him to welcome us. Don't worry, I heard El Diablo is a good place to have a vacation." What? El Diablo is the last place on my list to have a vacation. My forehead creased, my heartbeat was fast. I feel like something bad will happen.  Tsk, maybe I'm just paranoid. --- "Oh my gosh!"  "Huh?" I looked at Vanilla.  "Look, girl!" She said while smiling like a fool on her cellphone. "Our plans are set, we can go there anytime. I also booked an apartment for us, don't worry we can find your brother." I shook my head. "I'm still not sure about this, I'm having a bad feeling," I said.  She frowned. "You're being paranoid. Don't forget that your father wants you to find him."  "But what about my dream?"  "Tsk, you still want to pursue your dream of being a policewoman? You're crazy, you know your mother won't allow that."  What's wrong with helping the government spread peace? When I saw my brother almost kill someone before, I've realized that I hate someone like him and I will do everything to stop them. I want to become a policewoman but they won't allow me. Until now it remains a dream. "Fine, we will go tomorrow. I've already decided, I will find him no matter what. It's time now for him to do his responsibility as a son." I said and go to my room. I throw myself to the bed.  Argh, I will miss my bed. What the heck just happened? I just woke up and my father's having cancer and our company is facing bankruptcy. Now, I have to go to the place where every criminal and dangerous people lives just to find him and bring him home.  When I saw him, I will seriously punch him in the face. I yawned. "Can you hurry up?" Vanilla shouted at me. Tsk. "What the heck is your problem? Why are we walking?" I groaned. It's just 8 in the morning and we're already walking in a creepy road. There are no people, cars or buildings. It's like a dead road. "Well, you know we can't use any transportation here. We can walk until we saw the sign, if they saw a car here, they will shoot you in the head." She explained as she carries her bag. Damn, this place is weird.  "If there's no transportation how can we go back?"  Vanilla frowned. "We're not there yet and you're talking about home?" She said and continue walking. Tsk, this is a really bad idea. "Can we stop for a moment and rest? My stomach is already growling."  She stops and looks at me. "Omg, same. I'm going to die."  I sat down on the dirty floor. "Jackson will fetch us?" I asked. She nodded. "Yeah, I will kill him if he doesn't show up. He laughs at my face when I tell him we will go there. He said that this place is not for us, the nerve."  Well, he has a point. This place is for criminals and those people who love adventure.  "Do not tell me you came here with me because you want to continue your forlorn love with him?"  She glares at me. "What are you saying? That jerk won't have a taste of me anymore, in his dreams." She said. I just laughed and stand up. "Let's go?"  "Yeah, I badly want to take a bath and sleep." I groaned. Same. My eyes widened in shock as we saw the entrance of El Diablo. "What the hell? They say it's a scary place but why does it look like a paradise to me?" Vanilla whispered in awe. I silently agree. This is like Las Vegas. No, this is like a whole city, the buildings are tall and it looks peaceful. This is El Diablo? "Hey!"  "Jackson," Vanilla said. I rolled my eyes when he immediately pulled my friend and kissed her.  What the heck? His hair is gray and he has piercings in his ear. He looks like a real gangster.  I laughed as Vanilla pushed him. "You bastard! How dare you kiss me?" Jackson just smirks. "Welcome to El Diablo,"
