I sit back in a chair in my bathroom as a girl named Rosa applies my makeup. It’s the day of the ceremony and my stomach is twisted in knots.
“Oh honey, these dark circles are terrible.” She says as she adds some color corrector.
“I know, I haven't been sleeping well.” It’s a lie, I’ve been sleeping entirely too much, but it also feels like not enough. Even as I sit here and she applies layers of makeup, I feel myself wanting to drift off to sleep.
