Chapter 14: A new enemy

REEM

We watched silently as Ian and Anubis disappeared into the labyrinth.

"What are the odds that these two can handle a minotaur alone?" Xavier asked with folded arms as soon as they were out of earshot

"Zero?" A dwarf replied immediately

"This is a very bad Idea.

They're not even in good terms" Xavier said plainly.

We were all silent, waiting patiently to find out where the conversation was heading to

"I'm going in to help them" he finally concluded, unsheathing his sword.

"No you can't Xavier, it's too dangerous" Nania said keeping her gaze on him

"But they might need our help!" He protested

You're going nowhere (Nania said blocking him)

It's an order" she said seeing how serious he was.

"I'm sorry m'lady.

I received an order far superior to yours to protect the wizard at all cost till he makes it to Horeb" he said referring to the king's order.

"I'm going with him" I cut in, interrupting their drama

"Me too (Margaret said collecting her axe from the sheath on her back)

I don't have a reason " she added as she saw how everyone looked at her, expecting her to give an explanation.

Well after much arguements, we all decided to go lend help.

We were slowly catching up on them.

We had managed to trail them by studying there foot prints using magic.

I had this weird feeling that Ian was in trouble and needed help.

In this past few days, Ian and I had connected in a much unimaginable way.

"Why do I have the feeling that you're about to do something weird " Gretel spoke on noticing my facial expression

"I'm really sorry guys (I said facing them squarely)

Something's not right here and maybe y'all coming might be dangerous " I said almost pleading

"Reem, what are you trying to do?" Gretel asked giving me a suspicious look.

"Sorry guys (I said apologizing for what I was about to do)

rigescunt indutae! (I spelled, freezing them)

Don't worry guys, it'll wear off soon" I said tryna comfort them before I ran off.

I finally found Ian after what seemed like 10 minutes?

But he was really in a bad state, looking up to Anubis for help, but the latter did nothing

"For the love of hathor! What is going on here?" I muttered

I decided to step in and lend some help when I noticed Anubis wasn't going to

I shifted into a werewolf as my bones crackled. (It was a painful experience)

My white furs grew out of my now 7ft body, rapidly.

Thanks to Ian I had finally learnt to control my werewolf self.

I knew better than to just jump into the fight, so I stalked them. Waiting patiently for an opening before I make an attack.

And when I saw one, I quickly cashed in on it as I leaped towards the minotaur and with one powerful bite on the neck, I killed it.

IAN'S POV

I was now recovering from the assault by the minotaur.

I couldn't help but wonder what could have become of me if Reem didn't interfere.

"Anubis get down here! Now!!" She commanded Anubis who still hovered in the air and he obeyed.

I waited patiently for him to get down so I could give him a piece of me.

I attacked him immediately his feet touched the ground, connecting a perfect uppercut right on his jaw.

He didn't let things sly as he retaliated too and we began to exchange a couple of punches

I must admit he was really good and had beautiful martial art skills, but he was no match for me.

"Guys stop !!" Reem cried but we didn't listen

We could have brawled endlessly if not for the interference from the other guys as they separated us.

"What is wrong with you two?" Hansel asked as we were being separated

"You should be asking him (I replied immediately pointing at Anubis)

This jerk tried to kill me!" I said struggling to get free

"What??"They said unanimously in shock

"That can't be true" Hansel said looking at Anubis then turned his gaze on me

"You can ask Reem if you still doubt" I said signaling him with my head

"Reem? (He asked.

Reem was silent for a while before she briefly explained what happened.)

Anubis why?" He asked finally facing him

"Can't y'all see? (He began ranting)

What if he's just using us to get pass the minotaur before he exposes his true colors?" He said pointing at me

"You're a jerk! (I yelled, interrupting him)

I saw the look in your eyes.

You and I know this goes way beyond your distrust on me. (I paused, then continued)

You forget that Lycan aside, I'm just a boy. A boy like you." I added

"He's right Anubis (Hansel cut in)

There's no justification for what you did.

So what if you killed him and he was just a good guy?" He asked

"I can't believe this. I can't believe y'all taking his side" Anubis said

"Look, Anubis, nobody is taking sides here. We're just pointing out your mistakes" Hansel explained calmly but Anubis felt offended as he flamed up.

"You know what? Y'all can go with him. I don't even need any of you. I never did" he barked as he left immediately.

The other guys tried chasing after him, but Reem stopped them.

"Let him be. He needs some time to cool off" she said calmly.

**5 minutes later

After Anubis had left, we began to reconstruct ourselves on the next action to take.

Suddenly the heavens tore as thunderbolts came down, exactly at the direction Anubis took.

"Anubis!!!( Reem suddenly screamed as she fell down grabbing her head furiously as if trying to get someone out of it)

He's in trouble" she finally said and we all unwillingly went in search for him.

We were able to pinpoint his location thanks to Reem.

I couldn't bear the grotesque view of what we saw when we found him.

He was trapped by a witch with bruises on his face, and his nostrils bleeding.

The witch had a skin white as snow and hair black as charcoal but she was very beautiful.

She wore a black dress which seemed to not have an ending as it's edge flowed into a darkness of black smokes.

She was torturing Anubis as he was on his knees with his hands tied backwards with some sort of black energy.

Anubis cried in genuine pain as the witch pierced his head with the black energy that looked more like thick smokes and she seemed to enjoy every bit of it
