ANUBIS
"This is it guys" Ian said pointing to the lights ahead.
We ran towards it excitedly, escaping the darkness caused by the thick canopies of the woods.
It had taken us almost two days to finally find the grasslands (or say the biggest labyrinth on earth)
"I've missed the sun!" Reem exclaimed excitedly as we emerged from the woods.
I think everyone felt that way too.
"So what next?" I asked, unwilling to drop the distrust in my tone.
"Well I have a plan..." he began
"What plan?" I replied impatiently, cutting him short.
"The plan is this:
Everyone will wait for us here, while you and I go find the minotaur and kill it" he said plainly
"That's the dumbest idea I've ever heard " I protested
"We can't risk taking the others with us, it's too dangerous (he spoke with concern)
Well unless you've got better ideas....Genius? (He asked sarcastically and I kept mute)
Exactly what I thought" he concluded
He looked back at the others for a while, then he looked at me.
Instantly his demeanor changed.
He began to look at me like a prey he was going to devour. (slowly shifting into a Lycan)
"Wait...Ian what is going on?" I asked afraid (actually, terrified) as I carefully took a couple of steps backwards, looking at the others for help.
He shifted into his Lycan fully as he began to walk towards me slowly and the other guys took a couple of steps backwards (including Reem)
"What is going on guys?" I asked terrified
And just then, in my moment of confusion, Ian roared at me, jolting my spirits out of my body.
And in that moment of fear, my zeal came to me, taking me off the ground immediately as I hovered above Ian.
"Ian I don't want to hurt you !" I said, my voice booming like thunder and as if he heard me, he shifted back to human.
"You should've seen your face" he said laughing hysterically and the other guys joined him too
"What do you mean, and what is going on here?" I asked, switching back to my normal voice.
"I figured your powers come to you when you're scared (he said)
And you'd really need them to help me fight the minotaur " he added.
"So what next?" I asked trying to suppress my anger over their prank.
"Well since you have the advantage of flying? (He said sounding, not so sure)
It'll be easier for you to spot the minotaur " he concluded.
IAN'S POV
We had been searching aimlessly inside the Labyrinth for over thirty minutes.
This situation troubled me a lot.
"Any sign of it yet?" I asked as I suddenly picked up the scent of the minotaur AGAIN!
(It was no use relying on the scent anyways. Besides I had no idea who the predator really was, me or the minotaur?)
"No I don't see anything " he replied, giving me the exact replies he had given me just like the other three times I picked up the scent.
"What's really going on? " I muttered, sensing a problem?
I suddenly stood still as the scent got stronger, followed by loud thuds on the ground, almost like it was coming towards me and fast.
"What the?" I exclaimed, trying hard to figure out what was going on, before a morning star [spiked metal ball with handle]from no where landed right on my abdomen, flinging me away like a piece of paper.
The impact of this attack wasn't a funny one, as my belly churned badly and I retched blood.
I was still trying to get myself together before the morning star came again, landing heavily on my back. (crushing my bones)
The only difference now was that I got to see who was swinging it, as he emerged from the maze.
Who would it be if not for the legendary 9 ft tall minotaur.
"Help!!" I said weakly, calling out to Anubis for help, but he didn't botch.
This recent attitude of Anubis puzzled me.
I'd have to deal with him, if I ever made it out alive.
"I am Asterion! (The minotaur suddenly spoke)
I'm a god and I am the lord of this Labyrinth." He said as he struck his double-edged axe on the ground, as if sealing his statement.
I wasn't really bothered about his speech, as it had given me enough time to slightly recover from the impacts of his first attack.
"Next time? If you really want to kill someone, try doing it without much talking " I said casually, cutting him short as I immediately shifted into a Lycan.
"Finally! A worthy opponent!" He said grinning as he readied his weapons for another blow.
Swinging the weapons (axe and morning star) in both his hands in circular motion, he charged towards me; leaving heavy thuds on the ground.
He swung the morning star at me again as we got closer.
I was swift enough to dodge it this time around.
He thrusted his axe towards me immediately, and I dodged it too.
I came In with my own attack as I landed a blow directly on his ribs.
I targeted his hand wielding the axe as I bit on it, seeking to turn this into a fair fight.
Just the single bite from my powerful jaws were enough to crush a few bones as he immediately dropped the axe.
He didn't take my attack light heartedly, as he gave me a heavy punch with the other hand.
The punch tho, instead of weakening me, made me more aggressive as I roared at him, then attacked with a few punches and clawing on his midsection, with each clawing leaving deep wounds.
Well my short period of momentum were cut short by just a single kick from the powerful hind limbs of the minotaur.
I was definitely no match for this guy, especially being in his territory.
And in all this, Anubis never interfered.
Since it was now a matter of life and death, I decided I wasn't going to go down easily. At least not without a good fight.
I gave Asterion a surprise attack as I leaped towards him.
And as everything went in slow motion for a moment, I returned to him with a clawed blow directly at the side of his eyes leaving a deep wound.
He growled loudly in pain and rage. He then charged towards me bull style, placing his horn in attack.
I didn't run off tho.
I stood my ground as he came running with speed towards me.
I stopped his attack by holding him firmly by the horn as he still pushed harder.
It was now a matter of strength as we wrestled each other.
I anchored the claws in my feet to the ground as he kept pushing.
But this wasn't enough as he was winning, pushing me backwards, little by little.
An Idea came to me immediately, and I countered his attack using his momentum against him.
As he pushed harder, still holding him by the horn, I crushed his face on the floor, breaking his horn in the process.
Still with the broken horn in my grip, I leaped towards him, going for the bull's eye as he was about to get up.
In a little slow motion, I descended on him, digging the horn deep into his left eye, blinding it.
In the moment of pain and growling, he accidentally knocked me off my feet.
I think he noticed it, as he followed up the action with a heavy punch directly to my head, and then other blows followed through, with each blow knocking the life out of me.
And just then when I was about to pass out (or die), a white werewolf (maybe an albino) surprisingly emerged from the maze and attacked with one powerful bite at the vulnerable neck of the minotaur, killing it.
Surprisingly, I recognized the werewolf.
It was Reem!
