Birthday party
Chapter One
Alexia’s PoV
My eyes were fixed on my phone while Clara kept talking about God knows what.
“Alexia” she called when she saw I wasn’t paying attention to her.
“Mmm” I mumbled an answer to her as my eyes were now on her.
“You literally ditched me off for your phone.” She said I could sense that she was a bit angry.
“I’m so sorry I was just going through some stuff.” I said.
“You didn’t take a break from work just to stare at your phone all day right?” She asked me.
“Okay okay that’s enough, what are we doing?” I asked her.
“I was making a plan for your big day today. Why don’t we throw a party and, you know, invite all your friends.” Clara said. Apparently today was my birthday.
I looked at her in disapproval while shaking my head to the side signifying a no.
“Ohhh common Alexia, you have to make this birthday a big one we have to throw a party.” She tried to convince me.
I knew Damn well she was right, I literally haven’t thrown any birthday parties in my life, or any party at all.
But the problem was we didn’t have any friends and most of the people around us are not our age grade.
“But we don’t have any friends Clara and you know that.” I said looking at her trying to make her see my point.
“Well……” she stopped and rethinked just like a brilliant idea hit her.
“Why don’t we just go to where a party is being thrown to celebrate,” she suggested.
I should have known this was one of her stupid suggestions.
“Okay now you’re acting really dumb.” I told her while getting up and walking over to the fridge.
“But that’s a good suggestion.” She argued.
That’s Clara she’ll never agree that her thoughts are bad.
I opened the fridge and picked up an orange juice and turned some of it in two glass cups.
Walking over to her and handed a glass of orange juice over to her.
“Why don’t we, I mean just both of us go have fun at a club tomorrow.” I said before taking a sip.
“The club’s are for prostitutes Alexia, where is your manners,” Clara said. Overreacting as always.
“Can you stop being a dummy?” I told her, I was literally tired of her naive behaviour.
“Alexia, we haven't been to a club before.” Clara said.
“We?Clara, please speak for yourself.” I said, trying to let her know I’ve been to a club before . Even though it was just once as my work and other stuff doesn’t give me time to hang out.
“Okay so tell us a responsible club to go to.” She said,
“Please don’t be stupid no clubs are responsible, but I’ve been searching and digging up something though, look at this.” I gave her my phone to look at the picture of a building there, it was a new hotel that was built with a club house. The club house seemed classic and it was one of the best in town.
“Their opening was today and I thought maybe we could celebrate my birthday there.” I said.
“It seems pretty cool though, so what are we wearing and when do they open?” She asked.
“Well I think 8, the notice board here says 8.” I said.
“Well it’s past 8 already, I mean it’s almost evening.” Clara said.
Gosh I forgot what a dumb ass Clara was, such a naive little brat.
“8pm Clara, 8pm.” I said.
“What, what if we can’t get back home early?” She said,
“That’s why there’s a motel there where we can pay for a night's residence till the morning,” I said.
“And you think you can afford a night there?”
“We’ll see about that but for now, please go pick a dress.” I told her and she nodded and left.
As much as she annoys me sometimes with her silly questions, I was glad she was always by my side, she was literally the only family I had.
My phone beeped and a text message came in, it was from Ken at my workplace.
“I covered up for you, your space is safely kept, Happy birthday again” The text read.
I smiled at the text, I couldn’t thank Ken enough, he has been a very good friend to me always helping me cover my tracks and also financially.
I wanted to give him a call to say thank you and just then my phone rang and it was him calling.
“Hello.” I said with a smile immediately I picked up the call.
“I thought you might have gotten the message I’m just calling to check up on you.” He said.
“Thank you so much Ken.” I said.
“So how are you celebrating your birthday?” He asked.
“Well I and Clara umm, want to celebrate it our own way just the two of us.” I said.
“Would it be bad if a third party came along?” He asked.
As much as I wanted it to be just Clara and I, I couldn’t say no to Ken, he has never said no to me too.
“Yeah sure it’s fine.” I replied.
“So where is the celebration going on?” He asked.
“Humm there is this new club I found online, Club Ziglo.” I said.
“Damn girl you’ve got taste.” He said, which made me laugh.
“Well that club is hell expensive as it’s for the top tiers of the society though but we’ll get around it.” He said and I smiled again. He always knew how to make me smile. He's such a sweet boy.
“Okay Ken I’ll hit you up by 8pm.” I said.”
“Well I’ll be at your place by 7 to come pick you up.” He said.
“Thank you.” I said to him even though my thank you would never be enough for the good he has done for me.
“Ya wlc, I’ll have to get back to work I’ll talk to you later.” He said before ending the call.
I dropped the phone on the desk and headed into the bedroom to go find something suitable to wear.
