The Murder
I was jolted from my sleep by the sound of glass shattering in the alleyway outside my apartment window. "Seriously. Can't a b***h catch some shut eye in this f*****g city?" I growled to myself as I crawled out of bed to stupidly look out my window. My apartment wasn't the best but it also wasn't the worst. It was big enough for me. Everything was open. So I could see the kitchen and living room from the comfort of my bed which made it easier to see intruders. My bed was a king.(Obviously, do I seem like the kind of girl who doesn't treasure her beauty sleep?) I had recently gotten into a fuzzy phase with all my blankets so the bed was littered with a mass amount of fluff. Black fluff I might add. I sighed as I made my way to the little window to the left side of my bed, tripping over my combat boots in the process. I manage to get off the floor after verbally assaulting my boots and then myself for not picking them up. Drawing back my blackout curtains, I look to the alleyway below. A rather attractive man and woman were lurking in the shadows having some sort of domestic dispute. I rolled my eyes and looked around trying to see what had made the awful shattering noise. There was a dumpster right below my window, over stuffed some might say. To the left of that was the man and woman and to the right was nothing but a few flickering street lights and the alley entrance leading to the road. I noticed broken bottle fragments littered around the man and pressed my face against the glass to get myself a better look. Childish? Yes. Nosey? Most definitely. The man had blood forming at the top of his forehead. I couldn't get a good look at his face because it was dark and I was on the top floor but he had ruby red hair that brushed his shoulders. Some of it had started to stick to his face and forehead. I lowered my gaze to focus on his face and noticed he was....smiling? What the fu---- my thoughts were interrupted because at that moment he charged the girl in front of him. Her long blonde hair becoming a blur as her petite figure smashed against the alleyway floor. The man was now on top of the girl laughing like a maniac, she went to scream and he began punching her repeatedly. The first blow caught her in the nose and I bet if I was down there I would have heard the cracking and breaking of her nose. Blood spewed from her nose but he was far from done. The second blow landed on her forehead and instantly broke the skin. The next her eye. I gasped and covered my mouth with my hand knowing full well he couldn't hear me but not being able to hide the shock and fear on my face as the man below me viciously beat the little blonde to a pulp. I know what you're thinking, why the hell aren't I helping? Well..To be honest I'm in shock. Frozen in place because I can honestly say ive never seen such raw violence towards a woman before. A gut wrenching scream chased away my thoughts and I looked down at the scene unfolding before me. The man had now had an unidentifiable object in his hand and was pushing it into her stomach, blood pooling all around her. I banged my fist against the window hoping to get him to stop, once I realized what I had done it was too late. A pair of beady black eyes looked up at me, a menacing smile forming on his lips. My eyes widened and I immediately backed away from the window. I ran to my front door making sure it was locked, before running to every single window doing the same before finally grabbing my .9mm and rushing to the bathroom. After locking myself in I looked at myself in the mirror. Tears were streaming down the side of my face because of the horror I had just witnessed. My red eyes slick with the unwashed tears that had yet to come. After taking a few deep breaths and wiping my tears. I crawled into my porcelain claw foot tub clutching the gun close to my chest. Sometime in the night I fell asleep. Enjoying the last moment of peace I was ever going to have.
