Divorce Agreement
“Please sign these documents,” She placed a file in front of him and said in a calm voice.
“What is this?” He asked her.
“Look at it yourself,” She still said calmly.
Braydon Lu took the document into his hands and opened it in confusion. He read the title of the file- ‘Divorce agreement’.
He sighed before looking at Fiona Chen, “Are you sure about this?”
“Yes,” there were still no fluctuations in her voice. No one would think that she was actually asking for a divorce from her husband from her calm voice.
Braydon Lu nodded his head, “If that’s what you really want.”
He directly turned to the last page of the document, took his pen and was totally ready to sign it.
“Stop,” Fiona Chen stopped him just before the tip of his pen touched the paper.
Braydon Lu raised his eyebrows, “Don’t you want it anymore?”
His tone was neither sarcastic nor disdainful. Instead, his voice was similar to that of his wife’s. Calm.
It was very clear that if she said that she didn’t want this divorce now, he would immediately stop and not even ask her any questions regarding her decision.
But this reaction would only confuse others. One wouldn’t know if he pampered his wife so much that he would give her everything she asked for or if he was so indifferent towards her that he didn’t even care for her feelings, nor would he waste his time thinking about her decisions.
In Braydon Lu’s case, almost everyone would think that the reason would be the latter.
It was because of Braydon Lu’s usual cold appearance and aloof personality. No one knows how he treats his wife in private.
In public, the couple was always too calm and steady for anyone to understand the dynamics between the two.
No one even knows how they both got married. Hence, some doubted if their marriage was a business marriage but some would reject this idea because no one had ever heard of Fiona Chen’s family.
There were even a few who thought that she was an orphan because they had never heard anyone mentioning her family till date. But again, if it was the case, there is no way it would be a secret till now.
Thus there were many different versions of stories going on around the circle about Braydon Lu and Fiona Chen.
But no matter how many stories were spread, there is not a single soul that could clarify those speculations except for Braydon Lu and Fiona Chen themselves.
Unfortunately, the couple were so private that they would never care to answer these irrelevant people.
Even now, no one knows that there is a ‘discussion’ regarding divorce between the couple. Though it was said to be a discussion, none of the two were actually discussing anything.
Instead, it was just Fiona Chen calmly looking at her husband and saying, “No. Read it before signing. I don’t want anyone to say that I cheated you in the future. I want everything to be open and clear.”
Braydon Lu did not reply for a while but he calmly looked into Fiona Chen’s eyes. He saw that she was determined to get this divorce signed today. He did not read the file like she asked him to.
Instead, he signed it directly, “I don’t mind you taking anything from me. So, I don’t care what was written in this. You don’t have to worry about anyone saying anything about you cheating me. I am willing to give you anything- even if it was my entire property- as long as you are happy.”
Fiona Chen sneered at his words, “Stop your hypocrisy. Whom are you trying to fool here? Anyway, I don’t like these fake words, so just act in front of others and not me.
“Since you already signed it, I am taking my leave now. Just make sure to read that file later. Because I don’t want to be a female lead in a drama or novel who left the male lead of the story and hid from him for all sorts of weird reasons.” With that, she took her document and left with her straight back.
There was no hesitation in her steps. She was resolute to leave him.
But what confused Braydon Lu were her last words. ‘What did she mean by hiding from him for weird reasons? Looks like there is something in this document that I have to look at.’
For some reason, he felt ominous. He was scared to read it but his curiosity got the better of him and he opened the file to scan through it.
After reading for a couple of pages filled with all sorts of nonsensical law-related words, somewhere deep in the middle of the document, there lay a part which made him freeze in his spot.
“She is pregnant?” He was shocked at the meaning behind all those technical words.
In short, he had just signed a document, in which he agreed that he was aware of his unborn child and he gave his wife entire custody of the child. Not only did he hand her the entire custody of their future child, but he also agreed that he would never take initiative to meet the child.
If he were to look for his now ex-wife or their child, even if it looked like it was nothing but a coincidence, it would equal him trying to kidnap Fiona Chen’s child and he would be punished severely according to the law.
Braydon Lu couldn’t help but clench his fist, which crumpled the file in his hands when he realized what he had just done.
He was about to be a father, but he didn’t have a second to rejoice about the news.
Instead, he had to lose all his rights as a father before he even knew of it. He is really a fool. Fiona Chen even stopped him and reminded him to read the document before signing it.
She was clearly hinting to him to know about his baby before he could sign the document. She did not want to hide the news from him. He should be happy about it. But is it really a piece of news that could make one happy?
