Part 7

Athea felt like just going back to her place and having a hot chocolate made by Beth. It was too much for her to handle, Archer being so painfully arrogant and of obnoxious. Something like that shouldn't affect her because she had seen a fair share of Alphas like him, rude and disrespectful but at the end of the day he was her mate. And that simple knowledge did not sit right with her. The Omega shivered as the cold gust of wind blew by her. She could see the pack house a few steps away and it made her exhale a sigh. Her feet were going to fall off with all the snow. "Athea!" A yell from behind her made her flinch. She knew that voice. Instead of turning around and walking towards the Alpha who was calling her she just stopped in middle. Maybe she should just walk to the packhouse and get warmer before her legs actually sink inside the snow. Aries scent was thick even with the snow that was falling on the ground accompanied by the harsh wind. She never understood how Alphas did that. "How can you just wander off?" He sneered as he got closer to her and the omega wanted to actually sink inside at his stare. Aries had a frown on his face that indicated that he was actually disappointed with her. She licked her cold lips and weakly shrugged, "I know the way to the pack house" "And? The rogues around don't care about it. Do you purposely want to get killed?" She shook her head, cringing at the way her toes wouldn't even curl due to the intense cold. Athea needed to just walk inside and warm herself because she actually gets frostbite. You know it shouldn't be like this being a wolf and all but omegas were always on the weaker side. "No" She managed to croak. "For f**k sake! You're freezing" Aries exclaimed taking her bare hand in his and she instantly felt calm. He had freakishly long fingers and she just gawked at him. At the way, their hands just fit together so well. "Why did you not wear your jacket and gloves? It's snowing out here for moon's sake!" Aries grumbled pulling her closer and the omega wanted to whine. She was immediately surrounded by his thick scent. The strong powerful aura made her want to stay there forever. The Alpha had a thick leather jacket on his body and those ridiculous boots. She wanted to press her nose in his neck and sniff more of his scent but that would be so awkward later. Instead, she stayed by his side as he wrapped his hand around her waist and intertwined their fingers. Her breath hitched when he did the same thing with the other hand. "Do you feel warm?" He asked while trying to scent her. And she finally mewled, unable to hold back. The Alpha scenting his omega was so personal and intimate, it spoke volumes about their relationship. She would smell like him at the end of the walk and that made her belly flutter. So much for trying to remain unaffected. "Mmh" She hummed and felt a grin on his face. "You're just like a tiny kitten" "I'm not tiny" She argued as they began walking towards the packhouse. "Of course you're the tallest omega in our pack" He teased, tightening his grip on her and she looked up only to see that he was staring at the packhouse. "What happened?" She quirked her brow "Nothing" "Anyways you didn't answer my earlier question. Why did you run off without gloves and coat?" Athea tensed at that. She was hoping that he would forget about it and they don't have to talk. The Omega didn't want to recall the earlier incident as it made her want to just curl in a ball and never leave the room. "I was mad at Archer. And it would have been lame if I went to coat hanger and got my stuff instead of storming out" She gritted her teeth together. Aries shook his head, "You have a flair for drama huh? But Athea you need to remember that we are here to protect. That's literally why we allowed you to stay with us and you storming off like that won't help us. And Archer...well he's a bit stubborn about these sort of stuff but give him time" Athea was quiet. It was true, the first part atleast about them being there to protect her. She hadn't meant to cause a scene but the omega was genuinely upset and wanted to get away. "I'm sorry about that...it was so childish and stupid" "Thank you for apologizing. Repeat this to Archer and we can be at peace" "No" She frowned Aries halted and blinked at her with an unrecognisable look on his face. "And why is that?" "I was hurt- am hurt by his words and he needs to apologize first." He stared at her long and hard and she met his stare. One thing Athea learned was never backing down, that habit got her into trouble but it was worth it sometimes. She was not scared of the Alpha, her mate being angry at her, hell most people in her school who were Alphas are still pissed at her and she doesn't care because she was right back then. And even at the very moment, she was right. "Well it's going to be a long night then" Aries huffed *** They were greeted by a beta named Laura and Athea was instantly pulled in a hug as if they were long lost, friends. "You're so pretty!" Laura giggled parting away. Her accent was so thick and British that Athea forced a smile. She did seem a bit tipsy so Athea just nodded her head. "Laura stop scaring her. And let us inside" Aries grumbled, standing beside Athea. She missed being in his arms but if he was not ready to tell the pack that he found his mate she couldn't do anything. "Always a delight Aries" "What can I say? I have a natural talent" Aries replied softly closing the door behind him and Athea instantly felt warmth engulf her. Her eyes fell on the fireplace which was lit. Fairy lights and flowers were strewn around the living room and soft jazz music was playing in the background. She recognised that tune, it was a classic. "Oi where are other two annoying t***s?" Laura asked as they stepped inside the gigantic living room. Everyone immediately stilled, smiling at Athea and she could see that they wanted to talk with her. Laura introduced her to every single one in the living room which were a lot. Some of them were pups eagerly bouncing from couches and some teenagers looking bored. Aries wandered off when he was pulled by other pack members to set up the karaoke machine. Just as Athea was talking in a group with some betas and an omega, Sia when she heard them. Her two other Alphas. "Oh, Archer" Sia gushed raising from her seat. "Sia!" Archer laughed rushing towards her and Athea was shocked. She really thought that the Alpha was incapable of having any other emotion than that stoic look on his face. Why was this girl hugging him so tightly? It made Athea a bit mad. "It's been so long! You have clearly forgotten me" Sia pouted and then she noticed Aron in the background. "It's just-" "Aron! Oh my God!" Sia interrupted Archer but Athea noticed that instead of being pissed he just smiled. Huh? Who was this new Alpha and what did he do with grumpy fucker Archer? "Sia it's been a while!" "Yeah yeah, all because you three idiots are too busy to meet an old friend. I flew in yesterday you know" Sia laughed parting away. "We are trying to make a living" Archer laughed, raising his hand and Sia playfully rolled her eyes to which no one said anything. Now Athea really hated this omega. Who was she? "Where is Aries by the way?" Archer as if he remembered Athea existed turned towards her, "Where is Aries?" "Fixing the karaoke" Athea grumbled, too jealous to muster up a proper response. "Why did no one told us you were attending the gathering tonight? Would have picked up wine from our cellar" Aron cheekily said wriggling his eyes at Sia. What was going on? Sia laughed, too loud and screechy, "You don't need to impress me boo you already got me" Aron shrugged in response "Let's go find Aries atleast" Sia said pulling Archer with his arm and he hummed, moving along. The three of them just walked out of there without saying anything. And the worst part of it was Athea just stood there, waiting for Aron to acknowledge her but he did not. She just stood there in the crowd, feeling lonely and sad than before. ***
