Chapter 19Zoe hurried back to the lab. Clearly she was being watched, and even though she had no intention of dragging the chain and putting her son in danger, she now knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that she couldn’t call the authorities. She was completely alone. Throughout the walk back, Zoe had taken the sum total of one bite of her sandwich. Her appetite was gone, and the sandwich wouldn’t last very long, so she threw it in the trash, holding onto the coffee. Zoe checked the time remaining on the viral vector propagation. Noting that there was still over an hour remaining, she moved on to extracting the genetic material from the Marburg virus sample. She placed the sample in a vacuum controlled workspace along with an enzyme to break down the virus walls and extract the genetic mate
