Chapter 28Zoe was starting to get restless. Deputy Director Carter’s assistant had told her to call back in half an hour. She had waited twenty minutes which felt like twelve hours. This was indeed turning into a very long day. She decided to try calling again and hoped that the deputy director had returned early. She loaded the Signal app on her iPod and dialed the number the assistant had given her earlier. The call was picked up after two rings. “Deputy Director Carter’s office.”
“Hello, this is Doctor Morgenthal. Is Deputy Director Carter available?”
“Hello, Doctor Morgenthal. Yes, he has just walked in the door. I’ll put you through to him now.”
