Chapter 21

"Alice!"

Alice suddenly passed out and luckily Dawin arrived at the same time at the hospital.

Alice was immediately brought to the emergency room and Dawin was in the hallway pacing back and fourth.

How come bad luck was always on their way? Can't they live peacefully for once, Dawin was in dilemma, hearing Alice's distress voice earlier was making him sick, Alice, she suffered to much physically.

Dawin was putting aside all his grudges towards Alice for now, what's important for now is her health.

After waiting for almost an hour, the doctor comes out from the emergency room and went towards Dawin.

"Sir Marquez, your wife is now in stable condition."

Dawin sigh in relief, "Doc, what happened to my wife, why does her head and stomach hurt so much?"

The doctor sigh and looked straight to Dawin.

"Sir Dawin, in my conclusion I know you didn't know this, but when I check your wife earlier I saw her feet is swollen and bruised."

Dawin's eyes widen.

"What?!"

"So sir as I am saying, I check the bruised earlier which got swollen and I discovered your wife was bitten by an insect and not just an ordinary insect as I inspected her feet earlier, her feet was probably swollen and bruised and what causes her head ache and stomach ache is because she was poisoned by the insect."

Dawin was literally shocked, how come he didn't know this things, but Alice was walking perfectly fine yesterday, and she doesn't seem in pain when he looked at her.

"Sir, did you and your wife perhaps went to an island? Cause as long as I know, the insect who bitten your wife is mostly can be found in islands and rarely here in cities."

"Me and my wife did went to an island, but she was fine, she was Fine all along then why does? And what kind of insect is that?"

"Actually sir there is no specific name for the said insect but I can show you a photo of that, the science did state that when people get bitten by that said insect it was most probably receives poison and actually if we try to name the insect it was in scientific name but it was hard to dictate."

When the doctor showed Dawin some photos his eyes widen.

He saw that, he saw that in the island, he saw that in the path way going to the lake, he thought it was just an mere insect but he didn't know it can cause so much trouble in one's body.

"Your wife is in the VIP room now Sir, and I'll go now I still have patients to check."

Dawin nods and he hurried fly went to the room, when he open it he saw Alice sleeping peacefully.

When Dawin remembered about Alice foot, he hurriedly check it, but unfortunately it was covered by bandage.

Dawin sigh and remembered that he needs to call their family but he retracted his hands from grabbing his phone from his pocket as he remembered how much trouble they gave to their family this time.

They got lost in an island, Their family got worried sick, her sister and brother find them without any complain, and now Alice got sick again.

He decided not to tell them for now as he doesn't want then to be worried especially it's 2 a.m now and calling them at this time will make things more in chaos.

Dawin decided to go back in the house and will get the things he and Alice needed for the time being while staying in the hospital.

After an hour he was back at the hospital and when he opened the door he saw Alice was awake.

"Ali?"

Alice look to her side to see Dawin. Her eyes widen in a second when she remembered that she was ignoring Dawin earlier.

"Dawin, I'm sorry I ignore you."

Dawin was taken back by that, he didn't expect Alice to say that at all.

Dawin smiled a little and walked towards her.

"No, it's okay and we still have something to talk about, more important than you ignoring me."

Alice was confused and scared for a minute but Dawin assured her.

Dawin sat in the chair just beside the bed.

"Why you didn't tell me?"

"Huh? About what?"

"Your feet."

Alice was shocked and hurriedly checked her feet.

"When did that happened Ali?"

Alice hesitantly looked at Dawin before Answering.

"The time I left the lake alone. I-I trip on something while going back to the house and when I saw what makes me trip it was big branch of a tree and it has many insects scattered all over it, and I was bitten by one of them luckily before the others could bite my feet I hurriedly ran from there."

Dawin didn't say something for a while before he spoke again," Alice why did you not tell me? Did you know the insect who bite your feet was poisonous and it was the one who causes your head ache and stomach ache."

Shock, that was the feeling Alice has right now, well she didn't know that a mere insect t can make her sick like this.

"I didn't know, well what happened already happened and it teaches me a Lesson not to walk anywhere without looking on the way."

Dawin looked at her for sometime and sigh.

"Sleep for now Alice, It's still Dawn and I'm going to sleep in the couch too."

Alice felt sorry for Dawin but she still nodded and went back to sleep, while Dawin after spending some time with his thoughts fell asleep also.

It was early in the morning when someone loudly opened the hospital room, Dawin woke up by the sudden noise, same as Alice also.

Dawin's eyes widen when he saw Pia and their family.

"What are you doing here?" Dawin asks because as long as he knows he never told their family about Alice's state.

"You s**t head! Why didn't you tell us that Alice got sick?!" Pia said frustatingly.

"Okay, okay I admit it, but I don't want you all to worry again, we did make you worry many times."

Mae sigh and patted Dawin's head, "Of course we'll worry we are your family and if something like this happened again please call us immediately."

"By the way mom, how did you know we're here?" Alice asks.

"Well Pia went to your house earlier to check on you both but when she goes there the maid told her that you were brought here yesterday midnight."

"Mom it was an emergency, I needed to bring Alice here in hospital as soon as possible, and when she was transferred her in her room, I was going to call you but I thought we will disturbed you."

Alice sigh, and mentally thanked Dawin for not telling them as if Alice was also in Dawin's place, she will not call them also as she doesn't want to make them worry more especially after they got lost and now this followed.

"Your Mom and Jeremy couldn't come here Alice, they went to your hometown yesterday before you was rush here and they couldn't book any plane ticket this time as it was already fully booked."

Alice smiled and shook her head,"Actually dad it is more okay this way, I don't want to burden them anymore with me, and they also messaged me yesterday night about them going to our home town to fix something."

"Well I suppose you both still didn't eat breakfast?" Mae asks.

"Well obviously you three woke the both of us," Dawin says sarcastically.

Pia just punched his shoulders and Alice smiled a little.

"Well me and Mae will go buy food, you three wait here."

Pia and Dawin and Alice are left in the room and the atmosphere is kinda awkward? Well that was Alice's feeling right now.

"So what happened in the island that resulted for the both of you to ignore each other?" Pia asks straightforward.

Dawin choke on his saliva while Alice looked at Dawin.

"It's something personal Pia," Alice replied as she knows Dawin didn't want to talk about it, well also her.

"Well if that's what you want but I'm telling the both of you to never hurt each other, am I understood?"

Dawin froze while Alice was uncomfortable, hurt each other? Like they didn't do that to each other. Alice hurt Dawin, Dawin hurt Alice, till now, and that makes Alice uncomfortable.

"Yeah," Alice shortly replied.

After some minutes of talking some useless stuff, the door opened and doctor came to check Alice, luckily they already get the poison from Alice's body yesterday and now Alice's body is getting better but she still needs to stay in hospital for monitoring and maybe tomorrow morning or afternoon she will be discharged already.

Then doctor went out after doing his job.

When Pia comes to know the reason of Alice's poison, she scolded Alice for not telling them immediately especially when the time they got rescued and the medical team who went there to check them for wounds or injury but still Alice didn't tell them.

"I'm sorry okay, I thought it was just a bite like a mosquito I didn't know it will cause this much trouble."

Dawin stared at her for sometime before he talked, "Your not a trouble."

Alice and Pia looked at each other but before they could answer Dawin the door open.

"Kids were here, let's eat breakfast."

The day passed like a blur and Alice was now alone in her room, the doctor came to check her earlier and Dawin was in the house to check on Brian.

Alice was just peacefully reading her book when someone knock on the door.

Alice got confused on why would someone knock when they can just open it immediately.

Well aside from her family and Dawin and the doctor or nurse, she didn't expect someone to come here, especially this night time.

"Come in!" She shouted so she can be heard.

The door opened and a man went in while Alice was shock, she froze while looking at the man infront of her.

"A-alice."

Alice was now in dilemma, how come he's here, after many years, he will show up just like this?

"Dad?!"

"Alice, my daughter, I know it was shocking to see me here but I really wanted to see you since before but I got no perfect timing for that and to Jeremy too, I want to see my children but destiny didn't want me to.

I want to apologize for the things I've done before, for leaving you and your brother, especially your mom."

Alice furrow her eyebrows, she was now in doubt. But still his dad continue without giving Alice chance to talk.

"Alice I want to apologize for everything, I want our family to go back as what it is before, here this is my number call me if you want to meet me I'll be glad if you want to meet me!"

Her dad, Michael went to the table beside her bed and out a piece of paper, Alice grab it and saw a number, obviously this belongs to his father.

"How can I believe you?" Alice suddenly asks.

Her dad seems to be taken back from what she said but he still smile.

"Believe me or not, but I realize my mistakes a long time ago, for leaving our Family, and I regretted that so much, so Alice I really hope you'll call me and meet me again, and we'll talk more, but for now I need to go."

His dad went out and Alice was still in daze.

How come he came just like that? Like nothing big happen years ago, like Alice didn't hurt herself because of him, this was so absurd. Her mom work really hard for an living just to make sure she and Jeremy survive after her dad left them and now? Like really?

Alice sobbed when she remembered everything that happened before, it was bad, everything was shattered when the day her father left them.

Alice was still crying when the door opened again, revealing Dawin who was holding some foods inside a paper bag but he stopped when he saw Alice crying miserably.

"What happened?!"

Dawin hurriedly ran into her and embrace her.

"Alice, where does it hurt?!"

Alice shook her head indicating Dawin to stop when he almost called the doctor.

Dawin on the other hand was worried such when he saw Alice in the bed crying.

"Please, Alice tell me what made you cry?"

Alice sniffs and stared to Dawin at some time, "when, d-dad w-was here."

Dawin stopped rubbing Alice's back and looked at her immediately.

"What?" His blood ran cold when he heard what Alice said, Alice's Dad, Michael was not good as you may thought.

When Alice and Dawin was still in a relationship 5 years ago, Alice didn't hide Dawin the truth about truth, she tell Dawin everything, and when Dawin also discovered that Alice hurted

Herself when her dad left them, he was mad, not to Alice but to his dad. Because Alice won't do that horrifying thing if just her dad didn't left them.

"Alice where did you saw that bastard?"

"He came here a while ago."

"What? But only our family knows about you being confined here in the hospital."

Alice while still sniffling, "I don't know win, I didn't tell anyone also, and I was shock when someone suddenly knock on the door and when I said come in, I saw him. Win I feel off about him, even though he's my dad there is still some hesitation inside me."

Dawin grab a water and let Alice drink it, "Alice it's normal for you to feel that way, and after what he have done to your brother, mom and you, years ago, having hesitation to him is the right thing, and your father, well no offense but he is a literal scumbag."

Alice smiled a little and nodded her head,"I forgot, I told you everything about him."

Dawin nods and remembered the food he have brought.

When Alice saw it she smile because it was all her favorite.

"Dawin, how is Brian, I really feel sorry for my son, after we were found from the island, I didn't spend time with him. Is he finding me?"

Dawin smiled and shook his head.

"Yes, he was looking for you, but I told him you are sick and needs time for healing, I know he doesn't understand everything I said, but he still nodded like a good boy he is."

Alice laugh a little.

"By the way, Did your dad said he wanted to meet you again?"

Alice nods and pouts while still muching her pizza, "he gave me a number and he said if I want him to meet me just call that number and he will be glad to come and see me."

"Well if you want to meet him, you need to tell me."

"Why though?"

Dawin shrugged and continued eating his burger.

"If you won't tell me then I won't tell you also."

"Fine,fine, I need to come with you so I will know your okay."

Alice blushed and looked to the window.

It was now early in the morning and finally Alice will be discharged later on.

For now her nurse remove first her dextrose and Alice was also already done on changing her clothes.

Dawin already paid the hospital bill and went towards Alice room, Pia was also there to help them.

"Alice when will you go back in your work?"

"Maybe next week, I still need to talk to Cassy and also Dawin said to me that he was still fixing the new schedule for the opening of Quez wear's new branch in Jeju and of course I'll be present that time."

"Jeju? Again?!" Pia shouted.

Alice laugh, "of course now, we will ride a plane going there and also your brother said you will be coming with us."

"Of course I'm coming with you and I will not go far away from you and Dawin, if it's okay I will tie you with me."

Alice looked at her weirdly and facepalmed.

"Whatever and I know it will not happen again, Dawin makes sure we will travel without any weather problem."

"Okay enough chit chat Alice let's go, Pia did you bring your car?" Dawin said as he was just sitting in the couch while listening to Alice and Pia's talk.

"No win, I'm going to your office, I'm gonna treat someone for coffee?"

Dawin confusingly looked at her.

"Who though?"

"Seb," Pia says while her eyes glittering in excitement.

"What!?" Dawin and Alice shouted at the same time.

"My dear brother and sister, I think I'm in love!" Pia says happily.

Alice just smiled while Dawin was now worried for her sister, even though he know Seb personally but still Pia is her younger sister, it's normal for him to worry because even though Pia is strong outside but in inside Pia is a sensitive person.

"Okay, okay, I understand but don't get attach too much," Said said.

Pia just nods and bids good byes to the both of them.

Dawin and Alice also left and went to their home, as Alice was also excited to see Brian again.

Pia is now inside the company and luckily she saw Seb in the lobby talking to a client so Pia waited for a while until they were done talking.

The client left already but Seb was still busy on his tablet.

Pia walks to him and tap his shoulders lightly.

Seb turns toward her and he was shock to see Pia smiling at him.

"Mam Pia? What are you doing here?" But when Seb realize what he said he speak again.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to be rude, I was just shocked to see you."

"No,no it's okay actually I want to ask you something."

"Well what is it?"

"Can you come with me?"

Seb looked at her confused.

"Well, I saw how you help us when we are still in Busan and I wanted to thank you so maybe come with me, there is a good cafe I know, it is near here."

"Um, mam I am glad about that but I still have many things to do."

Pia looked at him instensely.

"How come though? My brother is absent and of course when the boss is absent, the secretary won't do anything right? So please," Pia said while her clasping her hands.

Seb sigh and nodded, well she is right though after the talk he have with the client earlier, all he needed to do after is to fix Dawin's schedule which was almost done.

So a little treat is not that bad right?

"Yes, okay I'm coming with you but please wait here I'll go get my things in my cabin."

Pia eagerly nodded and Seb went to the elevator.

Pia was happy that Seb agreed because actually it was her first time ever to approach a man as before she was the one who was always approached by boys and now doing this makes her excited.

After good twenty minutes Seb came back while panting a little.

"I'm sorry I took a while, their way some problem upstairs."

Pia smiled and shook her head.

"No,no don't worry and it's okay at least I know you are working diligently."

Seb blushed a little but Pia didn't saw it as he lower his head and act like he was busy wiping his sweat.

"Let's go?" Pia asks.

"Yeah,yeah let's go."

After walking for 10 minutes as the cafe is just a walking distance from the company and they would also look stupid if they will use their car when their destination is too near.

Both entered the cafe and they we're welcomed by the great aroma of coffee lingering around.

"Do you love coffee?" Ask Pia.

"Yeah, I always take in office, but still, I love coffee."

Pia giggle and Seb instantly looked at him.

But unfortunately Pia didn't saw it as she was busy looking at the menu in the counter.

Both sits beside the window and waited for their orders.

"So Seb, tell me about yourself."

"Huh me?"
