Friday, 12:15 a.m.
The major was well into the night shift at the hospital when she received a call from Frank.
“Major, get away early. I need you now. Some gentlemen in dark suits are going to pick me up at my office and take me for a long ride. Park nearby so you’ve got a clear view of the main entrance to my office. If I can, I’ll switch off the lights to let you know when we’re coming down. Just keep us in sight. You’re the only chance I’ve got. They’re holding Russell and his daughter hostage, and they mean business.”
The major took a quick breath. There was something truly close to panic in Frank’s voice.
“Don’t say anything,” Frank said. “There isn’t time. Just get over here as fast as you can. Tell them it’s a personal emergency, anything, but get over he
