Rolling my eyes I sit and listen to my parents lecture me about having boys in the house.

"I didn't even invite him over he just came". I said with my face scrunched up.

"Fix your face Oaklynn don't play with me". My mother said causing me to smack my lips.

"If you didn't invite him over how did he get in the house". My dad asked leaning against the counter.

"How many times I got to tell y'all I opened the door and he just walked in". I said throwing my hands up.

"He's your boyfriend so what do you take us for Oaklynn". My mother said glaring at me.

"He's not my boyfriend". I said rolling my eyes with a sigh.

"When did this happen you never told us this". My mom said with his face scrunched up.

"I actually knew". My dad said looking at her.

"Well, I didn't". She said rolling her eyes at him.

"That's because you're never home". I mumbled looking away from them.

"You can't break up with him his family are really great friends of ours". She said and my dad just stood there.

"Why don't you just date him since you like him so much". I said and I felt a stinging sensation causing me to hold my cheek.

"Woah Woah Woah did you have to hit her". My dad said walking over grabbing my face trying to look it over.

"Are you okay sweetheart". He asked and I nodded standing up.

"Can I go to Yaras house". I ask looking up at my dad.

"Yes/No". They said at the same time before looking at each other

"Yes, you can go". My dad said and I get up walking away.

"What's wrong with you don't be putting your hands on my daughter". I heard my dad say as I walked out of the house.

Getting in my car I start it and pull off.

|15 minutes later|

Getting out of the car I walk up the steps and just walk in.

"Family I'm home". I said taking off my shoes by the door.

"Hey, baby girl I haven't been seeing you around". Yara's dad said bring me into a hug with a smile.

"I know I've just been so busy". I said as we pulled away from the hug.

"I just got off the phone with your dad he's something else". He said shaking his head.

"Yara is the same way". I said causing him to laugh.

"It's good though because we've been friends for 30 years". He said smiling.

"I think it's really dope that you guys have been friends since you were 6 years old". I said matching his smile.

"Sweetheart how you been". Her mother said walking up to me with a smile before bringing me into a hug.

"I've been doing good mama I got a B plus on my world history exam". I said with a huge smile on my face.

"That's great honey are you staying for dinner". She asked and I nodded my head.

"Yeah where's Yara". I ask looking around.

"Upstairs in her room listening to music it's pretty loud so you'll have to walk in". She said and I nodded walking upstairs.

As I got closer to her room I hear music blasting. Walking in she was bent over twerking.

"AYE b***h THROW IT BACK". I yelled closing the door behind me.

"Girl you scared me". She said turning the music off before walking off and giving me a hug.

"What happened". She asked as we laid on her bed.

"They were on my ass about Jerome being in the house". I said rolling my eyes thinking about the whole situation.

"Wait I thought you broke up with him". She said with her face scrunched up.

"I did he just keeps popping up". I said with a sigh closing my eyes.

"He needs his ass beat". She said causing us to laugh.

"No but fr though how's it been going with Kairo". She asked causing me to smile.

"You never really know what he's thinking but he's so sweet and has a really good heart". I said thinking about him.

"Really you wouldn't think so he hardly talks to people and he walks around with a mug on his face". She said typing away on her phone.

"That's because nobody actually takes the time to talk to him and get to know him". I said turning over on my stomach.

"You like him". She said causing me to look over at her.

"Psst what no". I said looking off causing her to laugh.

"Trust me I've been your bestfriend for 17 years I know when you like somebody". She said and she was right.

"So just because we've been friends since diapers you think you know me". I ask and she nods.

"Hell yeah". She said causing us to laugh.

"Can you believe we're about to be 18 in two more weeks". I ask getting excited.

"We need to go over the theme and guest list". She said and I nod agreeing with her.

After that we started going over our outfits and where the venue was going to be.
