Chapter 16

I could feel myself being shaken awake by someone causing me to open my eyes and look over to see Oaklynn.

"What's up, what's wrong". I ask trying to get my eyes adjusted to the light.

"My water broke". She said calmly causing my eyes to go wide.

"What, huh, what do I do". I ask frantically pushing the covers back and jumping out of bed.

"Did you time your contractions, do they hurt, do you need to change, where's the baby bag". I ask looking over her before looking around.

"Calm down I'm fine the contractions are ten minutes apart, they kind of hurt, I already changed, and it's downstairs so let's go". She said and I finally let out a breath I didn't know I was holding.

Putting on my slides I grab the keys and follow her downstairs. Taking the bag from her we walk out and get in the car.

Starting it up I pull off towards the hospital.

|8 hours later|

She was close to ten centimeters and I'm surprised that she hasn't asked for that shot I hear most women get.

"So you not hurting". I ask holding her hand as I sat beside the bed.

"It hurts just not as much as I thought". She said staring at me.

"I can't wait till the baby gets here man". I said rubbing her stomach.

"Me either it's been hell these past 9 months". She said causing us to laugh.

"Hello hello let's check and see how far you are". Her doctor said knocking at the door before walking in.

I watched as she washed her hands and put gloves on before sitting in front of Oaklynn.

"So it looks like to me like you're ready to start pushing". She said taking her gloves off before standing up and throwing them away.

"I'll have some nurses to come set up and we'll get started". She said as she washed her hands.

Once she walked out I looked over at Oaklynn who was breathing heavily squeezing my hand.

"You ready". I ask rubbing her forehead.

"Yeah, you ready". She asked with a smile on her face.

"Yeah I'm ready". I said and a knock came at the door before people walked in with carts and stuff.

"Alright let's get started shall we". The doctor said putting her gloves on after she washed her hands.

|1 hour later|

"Just one more big push Oaklynn". The doctor said as I held her hand.

She pushed one more time and the baby came out crying.

Looking from the baby to her she was crying as they laid the baby on her chest.

"Congratulations on your baby boy". The nurses and doctor said.

"Thank you". I said before looking down at my first born.

"You want to hold him". She asked looking up from him.

"Yeah". I say holding my arms out and she placed him in my arms and I just got overwhelmed and handed him back before rushing out of the room.

Leaning against the wall I let out a deep breath as tears started to fall.

"You good man". Someone asked and I looked up to see Yaras boyfriend Tommy.

"Um yeah yeah where Yara nem". I ask wiping my face.

"We right here now let's go in so I can see my god baby". Yara said walking in and everybody followed behind her.

"OMG it is so cute what is it". Yara said walking over looking at the baby.

"It's a boy". Oaklynn said smiling down sat him as she played with his fingers.

"What are y'all going to name him". She asked as Oaklynn handed her the baby after she washed her hands.

"Keimorie Kairo Zale ". She said watching Yara pass him to her father.

"I came just in time and how will the first name will be spelled". The nurse asked holding the clipboard.

"Keimorie". Oaklynn said spelling it out for him and he wrote it down before handing the clipboard for me to sign the birth certificate and I did before letting Oaklynn sign it.

"How long she got to stay in the hospital". I asked looking over at the nurse.

"We have a couple test to run so she should be out by tomorrow morning". He said and I nod before he walks out.

"I have a surprise for keimorie". I said and Oaklynn looked over at me.

"What is it". She asked and not even a minute later the door opened and the delivery guy walked in with a cake and balloons.

"What's all this". She asked with a smile on her face.

"It's his birthday so we got to celebrate".I said taking the cake from him.

We cut up the cake and passed it out.

"Baby". Oaklynn called out to me causing me to look over at her.

"Yeah". I ask watching her breastfeed the baby.

"I love you". She said smiling at me and I gave her a smile back.

"I love you too". I said before getting back into the conversation with Yaras boyfriend.

Even though I was happy I still wasn't happy...
