27. The Kidnapping

Alice POV:

“King Atlantes, please, you need to help us, it’s an emergency” I said as soon as I flashed to his castle with Kat, he was at his office as always, he was such a busy King so that was obvious, I knew Liam were already after us, I could feel it and I didn’t want to take any risk or chance to get us caught, if he locked Kat in the dungeon that was part of his clan for centuries, what could he possibly do to me?

I needed to help her and I had to protect my babies.

Deep down inside, I kind of knew Liam wouldn’t do anything to hurt me but I just couldn’t take any chances and I obviously couldn’t take any chances for him to hurt Kat.

“Wow, what happened? Please, breathe and calm down” he said.

“I’m sorry for bothering you, King Atlantes” Kat said politely bowing down.

“We don’t have much time” I said and I explained to Atlas what happened.

“Please, I need to reach King Philip and I need to know if you have something I can use to project his vision for the dragons to see” I pleaded him, he’s the one who’ve been helping me when I needed the most and I owe him so much already.

“I mind-linked him and he’ll be glad to help, about the vision’s projector…” he placed his finger on his chin thinking “I believe I can help you but I have to go with you and get it back as soon as you finished using it, this kind of thing can’t get into wrong hands”.

He waved his hand and a small object summoned his hand, it was round and had a bright hole in the middle looking like smokes spinning inside it.

“What’s this? How can I use it?” I asked him.

“Don’t worry, I’ll show you later, shall we? I already mind-linked Elliot to take a look at the castle for a while” he said and I had no words to say how thankful I was.

“Thank you so much for always stand by me when I need the most” I told him and he chuckled.

“That’s no problem, I would never let any innocent being treated as a criminal, still I think you should talk to Liam, that’s so unlike him. I can understand him though” he said and I frowned.

“What do you mean?” I ask him and Kat looked down.

“You know, after everything he’s been through, he’s been protecting the dragons ever since the war and it was not an easy thing for a King to go through, see and listen to his kind being murdered, children, woman and the men who were meant to protect their families, he couldn’t attack back because he’d lose more dragons, still it was hard to choose to leave a realm he’s been protecting and caring for way too long, they built their realm together and Liam’s parents were great Royals but Liam was the one who gave them hope and peace, so I truly believe that they got so used to let their guards up that in a moment out of rage he did what he’s done to Kathlyn but I don’t think he’d ever do anything to hurt any of you on purpose” he told me and my heart clenched painfully.

Hearing about a war is something but to imagining it by taking Liam’s place…

I didn’t think about it that way, he’s hurt, he trusted me, he always did and I disappointed him when I left with Kat without even saying anything or leaving a note, I slightly opened the bond.

“Liam, please, trust me, everything is going to be fine, Kat is innocent and I’m going to proof it to you, I love you” I mind-linked him and I closed it again leaving a thin connection opened so he knows I’m ok, it was too late to go back now and I didn’t want to distress him more and if I closed our bond completely, he’d probably burn the entire Realms looking for me.

“He’s right, Alice. Liam have always been a great King and he cares too much for all of us and you’ll be as great as him when you officially become our Queen because look what you’re doing for me, not even my mate could stand by me like you did” she told me and I hugged her.

“Let’s go, the sooner we get it done, the sooner we’ll get back to our mates” I chuckled.

“You’re right, all I want now is for them to just listen to me and get to know exactly what happened, I don’t think I would ever forgive Prospero, we’re not like we used to be anymore and it wasn’t Liam’s fault at all” she said and I could see by the look of her face how hurt she was.

“Don’t you say that, everything is going to be ok and both of you will figure things out” I told her and she sadly smiled at me.

“All right, both of you, hold my arms” Atlas said and I wrapped my arm around his right arm and Kat his left arm and he flashed us to the Fae Realm.

When we got there, I was amazed by the beautifully castle and some islands floating above us.

We were outside Philip’s castle and even Kat was mesmerized by the view.

Kat looked up and some stray tears fell from her eyes.

“Are you ok, Kat?” I asked her and she nodded.

“Yes, it’s just…Zafira would love to fly around this beautiful Realm” she whispered.

“Is Zafira your dragon?” I asked her and of course she nodded again.

“It’s been a while, you know, we do shift sometimes but we always have to be very careful obviously and use the invisible rune, we don’t have the freedom we had in our realm” she said and my heart hurt for all of them.

Philip arrived on a white and very beautiful Pegasus, I’ve never seen anything like it.

He just jumped off like he was very used to do it all the time, he was wearing an armor and he approached us with a smile with his bright violet eyes, I wish I could stay longer on this beautiful realm but I was in such a hurry, unfortunately.

“Alice, good to see you again, I’m sorry for everything, Atlas already explained everything to me” he said as he grabbed my hand and kissed the back of it, he was a womanizer but he could be a gentleman with his friends it seems.

He turned to face Kat.

“Kat, I’m sorry, I promise I’ll help you to proof your innocence” he said to her as he also grabbed her hand and kissed it.

“So, who’s up for some party?” he asked and I chuckled, not even Kat could remain serious around him and Atlas just rolled his eyes at him.

“Come on, just so we can chill a little” he tried again, I glanced at Kat and she slightly nodded shrugging.

We entered his living room and it was so beautiful and bright, Philip took his armor off and then his shirt off revealing his strong body and defined abs, he had some tattoos on his arms and I noticed there was something like a relief on his back, was that scars?

I don't know because quickly Kat and I looked away.

“Seriously, Philip?” Atlantes asked him and both of Kat and I giggled.

“What? Are they gawking much?” he joked winking at Atlas “Come on, they are mated and marked already, they’re fine, they couldn't possibly fall into temptation” he continued which made us laugh louder.

“Philip, I can’t believe you” I said chuckling.

Some servants came in and grabbed their stuff and brough a new shirt for him and he quickly put it on and he opened a door and a loud music was coming from it, Atlantes just rolled his eyes.

“You really want to take two beautiful young and mated ladies into a club?” Atlas asked him furrowing his eyebrows and Philip was the one who rolled his eyes now.

“Fine” he closed the door and opened it again and oddly, there was no music coming from it anymore but a real nice and calm sound “let’s just get a massage while we talk, it will take only 10 minutes and you all will feel so much better” he said and we all entered it.

I could smell a faint scent of mahogany and oakmoss scent and I freaked out.

“Philip, Liam’s here” I grabbed Kat hand and I was about to flash.

“Woa, calm down, he’s not here but I think he’s about to flash here” Philip said and I freaked out even more.

“I’m so sorry” I waved my hand and I used my power to draw Philip next to Atlantes and as Kat knew what I was going to do, she touched my shoulder and I touched Philip and Atlantes with both of my hands on each and flashed into the Mansion’s dungeon.

“That was some nice s**t” Philip said smiling.

“I’m sorry, Philip, can you just touch Kat so you can see exactly what happened at that night? It’s really important to us” I asked him and he nodded.

“Alice, I’m so sorry, I knew Liam was about to flash because he’s been looking for you like a crazy dragon so I told him you were there, that’s why I wanted to make you stay longer” Philip said looking down.

“I can’t believe you, Philip, you knew we have to proof Kat’s innocence” I told him and he startled, I don’t think he’s used to have peoples talking back at him but I couldn’t care less right at that moment “Just please, if you want to try to compensate me for anything right now, I need you to see exactly what happened at the night the dragon’s got robbed”

“All right, I’ll do it” he finally said and he got closer to Kat “I’ll slightly press my fingers into your temples and I will invade your thoughts, not all of them, just the ones from that night” he said and she nodded.

“Thank you, Philip” I told him and he winked at me.

“It might take a while, maybe a few minutes” he said.

“Atlantes, I’ll go take a look around, please, keep an eye on them” I pleaded him and he nodded.

I made my way to the door and someone jumped in front of me.

“Goddess Devon, you’re scared me” I told him and he mischievously grinned at me.

“So, where’s Kat?” he asked me.

“She will be fine, I found a way to help her, everything’s going to be ok” I told him and he got serious.

He came closer to me and my body took a step back by its own accord, it was pure instinct without I even think about doing it. “What the hell is happening?” I asked Hope.

“You’re acting out of instinct, which means he can’t be trusted” Hope said and I knew exactly he couldn’t be trusted, I just didn’t know my body would act by its own accord.

“Are you ok?” he asked me and I nodded.

“You’re acting suspicious, what’s wrong?” he asked me and I froze in my spot, his voice was enraged and he came even closer and he grabbed me by my neck and threw me away, I put my arms around my bump by instinct protecting my babies but my back slammed against the wall, it hurt more than I like to admit.

He took a dagger out on his hands and he was approaching me, I tried to wave my hand stopping him but I was feeling pain on my spine and I couldn’t focus properly.

Suddenly he froze and I saw her, my mother came out of nowhere.

“I told you I wanted her alive, you dumb reptile” she waved her hand and he slid inside the dungeon and she slammed the door close.

That was unbelievable, we shared the same power, she approached me and I tried to wave my hand and focus to drive her away but I felt weak and I was in pain and afraid for my babies.

“Oh child, you’re too weak for that, don’t worry, our story is just about to begin” she smirked and she touched me putting a bracelet on my wrist, I could scent his mahogany and oakmoss scent before she flashed me away.

Liam POV:

I teleported to the mansion and contacted Philip, I needed him to send me the location, I’ve never been to the Fae Realm’s castle, only in the surroundings and I couldn’t have anyone seeing us right now, Alice was smart, she surely would cover her tracks or maybe not ever since she was really focusing on proof Kat’s innocence, something that it was supposed for me and Prospero to do instead of her, I was confused and I couldn’t function as I did before with Alice by my side.

“Philip, please, tell me Alice is there!” I mind-linked him.

“Sorry, I haven’t seen her yet, Atlas mind-linked me, he told me some serious matter Liam, was it true?” he asked me.

“Well, maybe, I acted out of rage and I scared her away, she’s in danger around the realms, you know that, I need to find her so as Prospero needs to find his mate, we will help them to get to the bottom of it, we will keep our investigation, I just can’t trust Kat like I used to but we will work on that if she was telling us the truth, is she still on the Wizard Realm?” I asked him.

“I think so, Liam, I need to go now, my realm is under attack, those f*****g trolls again, I’ll let you know as soon as I find something” he told me and I was pacing back and forth around the mansion.

Prospero and I teleported to King Atlantes castle in the Wizard Realm, I could smell the faint scent of wild rose and lily.

“I can smell Kathlyn” Prospero told me “She’s been here”

I tried to reach Atlantes but he closed the mind-linking connection.

We were inside his office and made our way out, I would look around every corner of this castle if that’s what I needed to reach my beloved.

After some minutes, we found Atlantes’ right hand Elliot.

“Hello Liam and Prospero, I believe you’re looking for your mates” he said straight forward to the point and at that moment, I was glad for it.

“Yes, have you seen them?” Prospero asked and he shook his head.

“I didn’t but it’s been a while ever since Atlantes ordered me to handle some things here. He left” Elliot said and Prospero was questioning him and I could hear Philip trying to connect me through mind-link.

“Liam, listen, I just need to make sure, you’re going to help them instead of locking them up again, right?” Philip asked and I rolled my eyes.

“I would never put my mate in any dungeon or hurt her in anyway, are you nuts? That was Kat and like I said, she confessed she was the one who let the thief came in our mansion and I just lost it, I didn’t want to hear her because I was enraged by the situation, I cooled down and no, I will not lock her up again if she was telling us the truth, the fact, I would even apologize, now please, do you know exactly where they are?” I explained to him hoping he would come with good news for me, I would punish Alice for real now but not in a bad way, I just let her go yesterday night because I knew how sad she was so I just let her but not anymore, she was mine and she needs to learn to not run away from me ever again.

“Fine, they’re here with me, I’m trying to take some time until you get here, teleport to my living room, I’m inside the pixies’ room, I’ll send you the location” he said and I waited.

“Prospero, I know where they are, they’re in the Fae Realm, Philip will help us, be prepared, I’ll teleport us as soon as the location appears in my mind” I told him.

After he sent me, I teleported and I could smell her scent coming from inside the door.

But when I opened it, they weren’t there anymore.

“f**k, this can’t be happening” I cursed and even Prospero was stiffed.

“Philip, what happened?” I asked him.

“Sorry, dude, Alice could smell you and she used her sickening power to draw me to Atlas side and teleported us” he said and I was getting even more nervous, I’m tired of this playing phone tagging game.

“I could just force shift and solve this matter for you” Alec said enraging me more.

“Where the hell are you now?” I mind-linked Philip again.

“At the mansion, we’re in your dungeon” he said and I let Prospero know and we teleported there.

They were finally there and Atlantes just put his index finger into his lips hushing us.

Prospero froze when he saw Kat with her eyes closed and Philip’s fingers on her temples.

“What’s happening? Where’s Alice?” I mind-linked Atlantes and surprisingly, he opened his connection now.

“Checking the gates and Philip’s seeing what happened at that night and I have a vision projector with me, Alice asked me for it, she’s really up to proof Kat’s innocence and I believe it will help all of you, finally…” he said but he was cut by a loud sound of something slamming against the wall and I felt a insanely pain on my spine as Atlantes held me so I wouldn’t slam into the floor.

“Alice, she’s in danger” I said between gritted teeth trying to put my pain away, I heard another sound of door slammed and I hurriedly made my way to the door and I saw Devon trying to open it.

“What happened?” I asked him.

“The witch, Helena, she’s there with Alice” he said looking desperate but I noticed something else, I let it go from now and waved my hands and open the door, her scent was strong, she was just there but now…she’s gone.
