28. Betrayal***

Liam POV:

I felt my still painful body sliding down on the floor and I was on my knees, I was so afraid of losing her around the Realms and it happened right under the same ceiling we were living in.

I can’t believe it happened again, she was so close and yet so far from me.

“Alec, I hope you’re missing to shift, up for a fly? We have a leech to visit” I told him and a new sensation of determination just filled me in.

“I thought you’d never ask” he told me in reassurance.

I tried to contact her through our bond but now it was completely closed, I’m sure they casted a spell or put on another bracelet on her, I wouldn’t fail her anymore, first I would finish what she started, for her, for our Queen.

“Devon, wait here” I ordered him, I would ask Philip to check on him later and Devon nodded dramatically.

“Keep an eye on him, please, Atlantes” I asked him through mind-link and he slightly nodded, Atlantes was also suspicious of Devon.

I entered the dungeon and Prospero was talking to a very angry Kathlyn and Philip was chuckling over them.

“Alice’s gone, her mother kidnapped her” I let them know and their eyes opened wide and Kathlyn started to cry.

“It was all my fault, she's the one who was more willingly to proof my innocence than myself and I let my selfish allows it to happen, I’m so sorry, King Liam” she said and I could see how much she cared for Alice.

“Kat, I’m the one who should apologize, I should’ve listened to you and Alice at that moment and not have acted like a tyrant, a King or a leader shall always listen to his peoples” I told her and she stopped sobbing.

“We have to find her, she’s our Queen, we need her, she was there when I needed the most and now I want to be there for her” she said and I smiled.

“Philip, let’s go to the living room” I told him as I mind-linked everyone at the mansion to also make their way there, there’s about 20 dragons living in the mansion.

Prospero was following us by Kat’s side, he was apologizing over and over again but Kat just ignored him.

Devon was there with Atlantes and sooner, everybody gathered, I glanced at every single one of them and I noticed there was someone missing.

“Devon, where’s Aslam?” I asked him ever since Aslam was his brother, Aslam was magnificent and he’s a great, strong and fair dragon, I've chosen Devon back at the time to be my 3rd in command because he was the oldest of them both.

“I believe he’s gone out to train at the mountains, King Liam” he said with a slightly trembling voice.

“He’s f*****g lying to us” Alec said.

“It seems so” I replied.

I tried to mind-link Aslam but the connection was closed and Aslam never closes the connection doesn’t matter what happens, it looks like he’s in trouble.

“Well, King Atlantes from the Wizard Realm and King Philip from the Fae Realm, please, give us the honor” I simply told them.

“This is a device to project our visions and thoughts, it’s the only one that ever existed, there was 4 devices created by the Goddess with the light of an Seraphin and it’s been trigged with a Cherubim, these last ones are responsible for ordering the universal chaos, offering all of us knowledge and ideas to make this whole world a better place which includes all of us, even humans, it was all allowed by The Fates, which are the ones who connect our souls and intercross us with one another and this one particularly is meant to project visions, thoughts, ideas, you can even take your memory and keep it inside this small device or even bring back memories that have been lost without using a memory spell. It came to my knowledge that a member of your horde, now-a-days, your clan, have non intentionally invited a thief to come inside, she said she’s been tricked and she didn’t know that woman was a thief and that’s why we’re here for, we’re going to proof that to you, obviously no one of you knew about this device and what it could do but yet, I let King Liam’s mate to contact King Philip to collect more evidences, that’s not a device to fall into wrong hands and it shall never be used near our enemies, except in life or death's matter, now King Philip, you shall come in” Atlantes said and he was impeccable on his words, King Philip made his way next to King Atlantes.

“I’m King Philip and I rule the Fae Realm, I can enter on peoples mind to find answers, places, secrets, moments and even a possible threat, King Liam’s mate looked for me to help Kathlyn, a dragon and one of your members so we can proof her innocence, I entered lady Kathlyn’s mind and I could see exactly what happened on the night the thief, which was Alice’s evil mother and one of the leader of the Sixforce group, stole the runes from your mansion and I can assure you that there’s more to it” he said and he glanced at Devon “now, please, watch very carefully and pay attention to what I’m about to say; our mind and memories never tricks us and we can recover things that at the moment have been unseen to our bare eyes, King Atlantes, please, you can use the device” Philip said and I got very curious to watch it.

Atlantes summoned a wand and I straightened up, I never saw him using a wand and even though he’s a wizard, he was known to be very good at close combats just like Philip's, so the limits of their magic are also unknown ever since they barely use it for fighting.

He took the wand and waved it above the small device and the endless light from the middle started spinning around the device and made its way to the tip of his wand, Atlantes placed the tip of the wand into Philip’s temples.

“Now keep Kathlyn’s memories inside your mind until I say so” Atlantes asked Philip and he slightly nodded, Atlantes started to pull some white smokes that was glowing out of Philip’s temples, when the glowing smokes came out completely and left Philip’s mind, Atlantes said; “All right, everything we need is right here”

The glowing smokes joined the light that was spinning around the tip of the wand and Atlantes put both the light and the smoke into the middle of the tiny device again and with a single wave of his hand, the device became a projector that looked like a hologram projecting the moment, the place and even the weather and the smell of the city, the food, the flowers and it amazed all of us, it was all happening like we were living the same moment Kat lived.

We saw her, we could see that Kathlyn stumbled over nothing but at Kat’s peripheral vision we saw a woman waving her hands, that woman was Alice’s mother indeed, the same woman we interrogated at the Wizard Realm, after it she came closer to Kat offering help, then when they get into the mansion, we all could see Devon smiling mischievously to Patsy, what a motherfucker traitor.

He used Kathlyn’s good heart to trick her into letting Alice’s mother come in the mansion and then we could see how Kathlyn was worried and upset and how she intended to tell us what happened but Devon made her fear me and her clan’s reactions over letting a stranger coming in at the mansion and still, I did exactly what he threated her I would do.

The astral projection turned to its tiny device self and Atlantes made sure to have it summoned away and safe.

I turned to glance at Devon and I could hear how his heart was racing.

Little amethyst alike sparkles was coming off my hands, I wrapped my arm around Devon’s neck from behind to immobilize him.

“Philip, have his mind checked” I asked him and Philip came closer and he was ready to put his fingers into Devon’s temples.

“King Liam, listen to me, it’s not what you think…I’m also innocent, I don’t know how Kat did it to trick King Philip but I can find out how…” Devon tried to speak.

“YOU LIAR!” A man said opening the mansion’s door and he was with his hand on his stomach with lots of wounds and bruises all over his body and swollen face and Devon's eyes opened wider than before.

“Aslam, what happened to you?” I asked him as all the dragons were gasping and talking to each other.

“Devon is what happened to me, he’s been working with the Sixforce group even since the war, Devon was the one who made the dragon’s attacking plan over the Realms and signed it as official using Liam’s ink, he could do it as your 3rd in command and responsible for our army back then, I suspected it was him ever since the night of the robbery, I was there watching them and I started to follow him, I needed to collect evidences before bring this matter to you, he’s my brother but my loyalty will always remain on our clan, I will never accept a betrayal, especially this kind of betrayal. Devon noticed I was following him and he was sure of it after I intimated him to why didn’t he stand for Kathlyn when Liam locked her up, so he locked me and tied me up in an abandoned cave in our past realm, he left me there to die, he used an invisible rune to make his way in and out, that place is full of rogues and enemies from all over the dimensions, trolls, ogres, cyclopes, even f*****g chimeras. I could find a way to release myself but I had to fight for my life, I couldn’t shift inside the cave because my dragon wouldn’t fit inside so I had to make it in my human form until a chimera attacked me out of nowhere, my dragon came in the surface and we learnt to share our body at the same time, so your only mistake, “brother”, was to think I was weak enough to never make it out of there alive, I did all thanks to my dragon Apollo, the white one, after we fought in the cave and made our way out of it, Apollo fully shifted and flied high up until he could not bear any longer and we fell into the Elves Realm and that’s when the elves took me to King Werloth, I was about to die when he gave me a couple of drops from the water from the core of life and he brought me here, please come in, King Werloth” he said and invited Werloth in and he made his way inside the mansion.

“I’m sorry I’m late but I believe I just made it on time” King Werloth said and King Atlantes nodded at him.

“I knew about Devon’s brother, after Alice asked me for help, I contacted King Werloth, he could help to solve this matter and that’s when he told me about Aslam. I asked King Werloth to don’t say anything to anyone until the time comes and we have it figured out what truly happened, Aslam was too weak and he needed to rest for a few hours so I decided to keep with Alice’s plan even though it was risky to have brought the Vision’s Projector” Atlantes said, he was truly as wise as the Elves.

I was still with my arm around Devon’s neck and I just couldn’t believe what Aslam just said, Devon was lower than I thought.

“King Philip, you know what to do” I told him and he nodded at me, his face was frowned and he looked enraged.

Philip placed his fingers on Devon’s temples and after a minute Philip let his fingers, turned his back to Devon with gritted teeth, we could see Philip was enraged to the bones but soon he turned to face him and he punched Devon’s face making Devon spit blood.

“If I was Liam, I would kill you, motherfucker” he said almost shouting.

“Everything Aslam said was true and there’s more to it, he was planning to kill Alice, do you know why he didn’t kill her? Because the b***h, who is her mother, stopped him, look at how far he’s gone, he’s the one who made the war begin and he was planning to have Kathlyn killed, that’s why he let Alice take her away, I saw he planning it” Philip said and I was almost breaking Devon’s neck but I didn’t want to do it here in front of his brother.

“Do you know the punishment of betrayal and trying to get your Queen or any of your kind killed, Devon?” I asked him with a disgusted face, he was quivering out of fear, that’s right, he should be.

“Execution!” Aslam said surprising me “He’s no longer my brother and after he tried to get me killed, I want to ask something for you King Liam, I want to be the one to do it” he said making my eyes opened wide.

“Aslam, killing someone who you’ve been living for too long will change you in a way that you’ll never be yourself again, trust me, I know” I tried to reason him.

He came closer and stared intently at my eyes, Alec didn’t feel challenged, we could see the determination of his eyes.

“And you trust me, Your Highness, he already changed me” Aslam said looking intently into my eyes and then at Devon's eyes..

I glanced at Werloth.

“He’s right, Liam, the wounds you’re seeing on him now were nothing like when he came, he was dying, he had deep cuts all over his body and his neck, he was blind from an eye and he had a lot of broken bones, you know we couldn’t give him more than 2 drops of the water from the core of life or it would be fatal and we had to wait for the Goddess’ miracle, he wanted to live and she let him, this means a lot, the Goddess might have great plans for him, I don’t know exactly what he’s been through but I can assure you that whatever it was, it changed him for eternity, besides, ever since he drank from the core of life and the Goddess accepted his destiny, he’s also immortal now” Werloth said through mind-link.

I glanced at Aslam, his gaze was full of hope and determination.

“Ok Aslam, if that’s what you really wish for, I will grant your wish, let’s go to the dungeon, this piece of s**t doesn’t deserve a fair death, he must be burnt to ashes” I said and Devon started to squirm and tried to escape from my grip but he wouldn’t go anywhere, especially after what he’s done to us and after trying to get my mate who’s carrying my babies killed, Kat was crying over everything that was happening.

We made our way to the dungeon and I threw Devon into a cell, he still tried to stand up and fight me, I just laughed over his failed attempt, did he actually think he could beat me?

I just left my fire’s sparkles coming out of my fingers and I directed it to Devon’s direction, as soon as a single sparkle touched his skin, all over his body burnt with my purple blowtorch fire.

He screamed out of pain and I put out my fire.

“Why would you kill your Queen, Devon? And why did you betray us? Answer me and then I might ask Aslam to make it a quick death” I told him.

“They offered me something you never did, power, protection and a chance to replace you as a King, I was almost making it…and I…I fell in love with Alice when you brought her here, I just couldn’t stand seeing her next to you, I knew I could never kill a King, I’m not as powerful but I could kill her so as your babies to make sure you wouldn’t touch her ever again” he said with a trembling voice, he knew that it was pointless to lie or try to get away with it alive after what he’s done and I got enraged by every word he said about my beloved, I felt my purple fire spinning around my arms and I directed it to Devon nonstop like a blowtorch, he screamed in pain and I turned to stare at Aslam.

“He’s all yours” I simply told Aslam with a disgust face, he betrayed us, lied to us, tried to get Alice killed, left his own brother to die, made me lock Kat in the dungeon and made me trust him all over these centuries, death seemed like a light punishment for everything he’s done.

“You’re out of your mind, goodbye brother” Aslam said as he grabbed Devon’s neck and let out his white flames burnt Devon to ashes making me satisfied.

We got back to the living room not long after.

“I want your attention, please” I told to everyone and they glanced at me “From now on, Aslam will be taking Devon’s place, he’s becoming my 3rd in command and you’re all free to go to the Realms” I said and everybody looked happy, their dragons always felt locked up in the Human Realm because they don’t get to shift like they supposed to.

“Kathlyn, I’m so sorry for locking you up in the dungeon, you’re innocent” I also told her and she let some tears of happiness fall from eyes, she held Prospero’s hand but soon she let it go making him frown with a sad face, they surely have a lot to talk to.

“Please, call some healers to Aslam and gather some warriors to fly over the Wolves Realm, look for any sign of trouble and if you find it, make sure to annihilate it without burn the entire realm, if any pack get burnt by accident, make sure to gather the servants to clean the mess and the healers to look for any injured wolf, I’ll make my way to the Realms now” I told them and they all nodded dramatically and spread through the mansion “Atlantes, Philip and Werloth, thank you so much for what you’ve been doing for us” I thanked them truly, I would never imagine that someday we’d be working together like we did today.

“I’m sure I can say for all of us, we’re happy to have you back, King Liam” Werloth said and I nodded.

“I have to go after Alice now” I told them and my next destination will be the Vampire Realm, I tried to contact King Lucius for the location, I wouldn’t ask for his help through mind-link, it’s a matter to be solved in eye-to-eye but I could use the location but his mind-link was cut as always, no one have never been there, I’ll have to flash to Atlantes’ castle, which is the nearest Realm and make my way flying over there, it’s risky but I’m up to do whatever it takes to bring my mate and our babies back where they belong, by my side.
