Derek’s POV Her father was standing right next to her, and she was not in the mood for another pounding, so she stared at me with doe eyes, like a deer caught in headlights. She looked at her father as she raised her hands to her neck and gently massaged the area. "Sir, it's nothing," she retorted quietly. My eyes went narrower. "Did someone try to strangle you?" With her eyes wide open, Daria glanced fearfully at her father. When I whipped my head in his direction, her father instantly checked himself, even though he had raised his hand to strike her. "Tyler, keep an eye on yourself," I growled. My order had so much strength that it was gripping his thoughts like a vice. Tyler didn't consider me to be his Alpha, but he had to obey. It was obvious that werewolves were subjugated by Lycans. However, I was the Lycan king. I also have control over every Alpha werewolf. Tyler was merely a tiny bug in the neighbourhood. "I'm going to be leaving now," I stated, turning to face Alpha Fenrir. I'll be over to pick her up by nightfall. For the journey, she appears really pale. Verify that she has had a healthy meal. By 5 PM, we shall begin the Veil." Alpha Fenrir felt ecstatic. His offer had been accepted by the Lycans. He was certain that I would turn this girl down. And he had his backup plan ready for that scenario. He would have presented me with Chloe. With delight, he massaged his hands and replied, "Yes! I'll look after her well till you get here." "And make sure that she is unharmed," I continued. "Because if she is, I won’t like it!" "She is too thin," I remarked after that. Get her a bite to eat. Daria's perspective Alpha Fenrir remarked, "If you like, you can take Chloe with you," because he was afraid Derek would reject me. He pointed to my younger sister. I looked at Chloe first, then at Alpha Fenrir, and for some reason, she seemed willing but shocked. Strange. A slight flush crept to Chloe's cheeks as she shuffled on her toes beneath Derek's waiting gaze. Derek shot a quick peek in her direction before turning back to face me. He hissed, disregarding Alpha Fenrir's remarks, "Just get the documents ready. When I return, I will sign them, and the funds will then be transferred. Fenrir Alpha winced. Of course! Please don't be alarmed. Cash? Was this the place where I was being sold? Thus, the Lycan king would be giving money to Alpha Fenrir. Here I was, believing my father would get the money for having abandoned Zack. I was therefore, in a sense, sold under an offer. My mind spun so quickly that my knees buckled as I began to feel lightheaded. I was about to topple over onto the ground when sturdy arms enveloped me in a shielding embrace and steadied me. I was overcome by the aroma of his cedar and mist and found myself unable or without the ability to move. His head leaned down, and my head tilted upward. We both had our eyes locked, mine blazing blue, his green. My cheeks turned red. I thought I was melting in his eyes. I was startled out of my thoughts by a deep growl coming from somewhere behind. I stood up straight and stepped back from his personal area. Derek was getting irritated, so I looked away right away. Derek gave a loud gasp. He let out a harsh breath and muttered, "I'll take my leave. Ensure she has gotten enough sleep. She is worn out." Derek hurriedly departed. For my part, my anxiety increased tenfold. The Lycan king, who was considered to be brutal, was buying me off from my Alpha and using me purely for breeding. I had no idea which of the two evils was worse. If I didn't accompany Alpha Fenrir, he would, on the one hand, cast me into dungeons. My life would become a living in the dungeons. Derek, on the other hand, would likewise cast me into the dungeons, but only after I had puppies. My only hope of surviving this ordeal was to find a way out. I had to get away and summon Maya over here. The wolves were staring or glaring at me, and I felt like a trapped rabbit among them. With clammy palms, I gripped the sides of my bridal gown, unsure of what to do next. Fantastic! announced is Alpha Fenrir. "At this point, the sacrifice—" he examined himself. "The offer is accepted, so feel free to return her home! Bring her over here by 5:00 p.m. Zack remarked, "I don't think we should let her go from here," as he fixed his gaze on me. He had his hands clenched into fists. "It would get chaotic if Alpha Derek arrived before 5 p.m. and she wasn't here." Despite her amazement, Layla remained silent about Zack. If appearances were weapons, she was hurling them towards me. Fenrir pondered over Zack's words. "All right, she can remain here!" he shrugged. "But Chloe will have to stay here with her as well, and she has to stay in the guest room." He glanced at Natalie and Tyler. "You two are free to go. After Derek transfers your money to me, I will wire it to you. I watched as my stepmother and father celebrated, and my *** dropped to the ground. I had been duped. Instead, this arrangement had only benefited them. My folks departed without saying goodbye. Though it was all wishful thinking, I hoped that my father would give me a quick look now that he would never see me again. As though relieved to be free of their burden, they hurried out. Zack came to me as soon as they were gone. Grabbing my upper arm, he yelled, "Come on!" He tugged me in the direction of the guest rooms, Layla and Chloe trailing after. What on earth are you doing? Shocked, I asked.
