CHAPTER TWELVE.

1310 Words
SOPHIA'S POV. Ever since the engagement party, Lucas and I have had some sort of rocky relationship. He yelled at me that night for always putting him in a situation where he would get insulted by another man. Not just any man, a worthless excuse of a man. I didn't agree with those words he used to describe Max, but I just went along with it so he would calm down. But Lucas was furious. He wouldn't talk to me or forgive me. He gave me the silent treatment for days, and that only added to my guilt. Nevertheless, he still went on with the wedding preparations all on his own. He doesn't involve me in anything, and he doesn't even bother to ask me my opinion on anything about it. It all left me sad and distressed. I could feel things already falling apart, but I was too blinded by my love for him to see it. The date of the wedding was set, which only increased my agitation. But three days to the wedding, Lucas apologized for his silent treatment and asked me to forgive him. He explained that he was overcame with jealousy and that was why he snapped. Of course I forgave him. What choice do I have? He is going to become my husband anyway. Mrs Sullivan didn't confront me anymore ever since, and although it was relieving, I still feared for the worst. The day of the wedding finally came, and it was a busy day for both Lucas and I. Lucas hired make-up artist to fix my hair and make up, also to help me get dressed into my wedding gown. A gown that was picked out without my opinion, without me even trying it on. But I never complained. Just like the engagement party, I didn't feel happy at all, but I kept a fake smile on my face and said yes to everything the priest ask, for the sake of Lucas and his reputation. Lucas was very happy about our wedding, and I don't want to ruin that for him. After the wedding, we left for the party which was done at the same place Lucas booked for the engagement party. Everyone was present, congratulating us and wishing us good luck in our marriage. Amelia and Max also came together to congratulate us. Max was wearing a gray suit this time, and Amelia had on a silver dress to match. Max earrings were still missing from his ears. Mrs Sullivan did not look like she approve of Max, but she didn't say anything and just kept smiling at Emma. "Congratulations Mr and Mrs Sullivan," Max said pleasantly while his girlfriend glared at me to which I ignored. Lucas jaw clenched. "Lia, I told you not to being this man here." "This man has a name brother and it's Max," Amelia retorted. "If you can be allowed to marry trash, why can't I bring my own trash to the party?" I flinched at the words, and Max didn't look happy about being referred to as trash. "This is suppose to be a happy day guys. Please don't start a fight," Emma pleaded. Mrs Sullivan scoffed, "there is nothing happy about my son bringing home a golddigger and my daughter dating a criminal." "Mom please don't start!" Lucas snapped in annoyance. Mrs Sullivan rolled her eyes and faced Max, "no offense to you Matthew, clothes doesn't change a person's nature." Max nodded thoughtfully, "Is that so?" He let out the words freely. "There are a lot of rumors about you Mrs Sullivan," he began, facing Lucas Mon squarely. There was no fear in his eyes as he continued, "you also came from a poor family before the late Mr Sullivan married you. Doesn't that make you a golddigger too?" Everyone gasped at his guts, but Max remained fearless and unfazed. It was kind of hot. "You are right with what you said just now. The expensive clothes you put on doesn't change the fact that you also came from the slumps." The sound of palm against skin resounded through the entire hall, and more people were starting to notice the drama. "How dare you?!" Mrs Sullivan growled. Lucas also pushed Max aside. "You have a lot of nerve to talk to my mother like that you sick bastard!" "That was so wrong of you Max. What were you thinking?!" Amelia added. "I only spoke the truth. What's with all your reactions? You were all standing here listening to her insult me and Sophia, but you do nothing about it." "That doesn't give you the right to insult my mother Max!!!" Amelia screamed at him, "I've been doing all I can to make my mom like you, but you keep ruining things. You keep showing everyone that you came from the gutters with your bad manners and terrible upbringing. That's why your parent left you!" Max's expression looks like Amelia had just stabbed him through the heart with a knife, and I felt his pain in my heart too. I was almost moved to tears at the shattered look on his face. Max nodded his head slowly as if realizing something. "You know what Lia, this is a mistake." Amelia's eyes widen, and she looks scared. "Max, babe, I'm sorry. I didn't mean..." "Coming here is a mistake, meeting your family is a big mistake, this stupid suit," he pulled it off in anger and threw it to the ground, "is a f*****g big mistake. Our relationship is the biggest mistake we've ever made. It's better we just end it, because I can't take this s**t from you and your family anymore." "Max, you don't mean that." "It's for the best Amelia." Mrs Sullivan pulled her back as she tried to go to Max. "Listen to your mom Lia. It's for the best," he sneered. "While we are at it, here is your watch. I don't need it!" He took off the Rolex watch around his wrist and flung it to the ground. Everyone was murmuring now. They were all watching the show. "And your f*****g shirt." My eyes widen as he uncuffed the cufflings of his button up shirt and began to unbutton it. Everyone was watching and whispering in shock Max took off the shirt and flunged it aside. My face turned scarlet at the sight of his toned body, and extremely broad chest. There was a well define six pack and a prominent v line. Girls cooed at him, they were literally drooling and I wouldn't blame them, Max has the body of a Greek god. "Let me not forget the belt and pants too." He starts to unbuckle his belt. "Someone take this lunatic out of here!" Mrs Sullivan screamed in horror. "Max what do you think you're doing?!" Amelia screamed, but Max paid no attention to her. He drew out the belt through the loops, flunged it aside and unzip his pants. "The shoes has to go first." He bent down and took off his shoes and socks then finally his pants until he was only in his boxers. I heard someone sigh dreamily behind me, "best wedding party ever. This is better than a strip show." Max glared at Amelia and said, "now I owe you nothing. See you never!" He turned around and walked out of the party with only his boxers on. The muscles in his back flexed as he walked, and it left a dryness in my throat. How is he so cool? "Show off," Lucas muttered underneath his breath. "Everyone, let's continue with the party. The show is over," he said loudly to the guest. "Someone should please help clear out this clothes." With that, everyone returned to partying, although the excitement was still heavy in the air. Maxuel Williams, just won my respect.
