Chapter 1 : Rejected by My Alpha
“ Luna Selena Blackwood, I, Alpha Damien Nightshade, rejects you as my Mate and Luna”.
The words struck me harder than any blade.
The pack has fell silent.
Hundreds of eyes stared at me as if I was nothing modern a spectacle.
My knees trembled.
“No…” I whispered. “Damien, please.”
The man I had loved since childhood stood before me, emotionless eyes. The same eyes that once looked at me as though I were his entire world.
Tonight, they held only contempt.
Beside him stood Vanessa.
The daughter of a powerful Alpha.
The woman who had spent years reminding me I wasn’t worthy of Damien.
A cruel smile tugged at her lips as she wrapped her arm around his.
My wolf howled in agony.
“Why?” I asked, tears blurring my vision.
“What did I do wrong?”.
Damien’s jaws tightened.
“You are weak”.
The words shattered what remained of my heart.
“ The Nightshade Pack needs a strong Luna. Not a broken Omega who hides behind
titles”.
Gasps echoed throughout the hall.
Every person there knew I wasn’t an Omega.
I was born an Alpha’s daughter.
But after my father’s death, my family lost everything.
Now Damien was using my tragedy against me.
Vanessa stepped forward.
“Maybe if you weren’t so pathetic, Damien wouldn’t have found someone better”.
Laughter spread through the crowd.
Each sound felt another knife twisting inside my chest.
I searched the faces.
Friends.
Pack members.
People I had protected.
Not one stood beside me.
Not one defended me.
Damien raised his voice.
“ From this moment forward, Selena Blackwood is stripped of her position as future Luna”.
The bond between snapped.
Pain exploded through my body.
I collapsed on the floor as my wolf screamed inside my mind.
The mate bond was gone.
The future I had dreamed of was gone.
Vanessa learned down so only I could hear.
“You should thank me. When Damien becomes Alpha King, he’ll need a real Queen.”
I clenched my fists.
For years I had endured her cruelty.
For years I had remained silent.
Not anymore.
Slowly, I pushed myself to the feet.
Blood trickled from my lip were I had been bitten it.
The entire hall watched.
Waiting for me to cry.
Waiting for me to beg.
Waiting for me to break.
Instead, I smile.
A small smile.
A dangerous smile.
“You’re right, Damien”.
Confusion flickered across his face.
I wiped away my tears.
“ You rejected me because you think I’m weak.”
The Moon Goddess was my witness.
One day, he would regret those words.
One day every person in this room would.
I lifted my chin.
“Enjoy your victory while you can”.
Then I turned and walked away.
Neither Damien nor Vanessa noticed the silver mark beginning to glow beneath my wrist.
The mark that means the moon Goddess had plans far greater than becoming Damien’s Nightshade Luna.
The mark that only appeared on the destiny heir of the Alpha King.
And sooner the entire werewolf world would know my name.
